Does anyone still support this Labour government?

PutTheCakeDOWN · 28/12/2025 12:24

I know NO ONE in real life who still sticks up for them (apart from my mother, and she would support Labour even if KS owned up to creating Covid). Apart from that, all quiet on the western front.

I haven’t seen any support on here, or SM for weeks now.

Is it my algorithm bubble, or are people genuinely disappointed with them? I don’t think it can be the algorithms though, as until a few weeks ago there were still words of support popping up.

For full disclosure I think this government is a total shitshow intent on dismantling British culture, and taxing the private sector to death in order to pay for the public sector. With no long term plan once the private sector is squeezed totally dry. I am BEYOND disappointed with them.

I’m disappointed yes but still broadly support and think they are more trustworthy than tories or reform the latter of which are actual nut jobs

I don’t often vote labour though I live in a strongly un-Labour area so tend to vote lib dem

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 28/12/2025 12:29

I’ll take them over Faragw and Reform every day although I wish the government had implemented more left wing policies.

plinkyplonk123 · 28/12/2025 12:30

I mean they’re better than the Tories although it seems that every piece of media would show Keir Starmer as being worse than Truss the Lettuce

How do you think they have dismantled British culture, OP.

Katypp · 28/12/2025 12:31

Has anyone got a better reason to support them than 'They are better than the Tories'?

itsgettingweird · 28/12/2025 12:34

I support them. More than I thought I would as I’m not a natural left winger and a swing voter.

There done lots of things I agree with but the issue is that SM and MSM don’t show these they’d rather show any negative.

O find the are more centric than Labour usually is and i like this.

I wouldn’t ever vote reform and wouldn’t vote Tory again after the past 14 years of Tory shit show.

So dependent on how they continue I’ll vote Labour or Lib Dem next time around.

What EXACTLY do you support that they have done?

Clockyclockz · 28/12/2025 12:35

Disappointed but prefer them to previous gov & Reform. Confused why they are quite so reviled tbh.

What’s wrong with that reason?

Clockyclockz · 28/12/2025 12:37

Tbh I’m more disappointed with the state of politics in general & the realisation nothing is going to change.

CandiedPrincess · 28/12/2025 12:38

Nope. I voted for them, and was a card-carrying member but I have cancelled my membership to the Labour Party. Quite where that leaves me now is anyone's guess.

How do you think they have dismantled British culture, OP.

Constantly welcoming extremist anti-British extremists.

Doing nothing to stop the channel crossings.

Doing nothing to promote British culture (they are ashamed of it, rather).

Sowing division and creating class wars.

And not least, their all-out war on rural Britain.

What wrong with it is that it’s about not wanting to support the tories. It’s not a reason TO support Labour.

Sadly, this. I’m hugely fucking disappointed in Labour. I often say to DH that this is the most “Tory” Labour government we’ve ever seen. The things they are doing to try to appease the right-wing of their party and somehow woo voters away from Reform just seem like garden-variety Tory performative cruelty. I had hoped that would leave with the Tories. Your entire PR plan cannot be “love us because we’re not Tories” when you act like them! But of course, the problem is that nobody wants Prime Minister Farage. In my neighborhood, polls have shown Labour has no chance of winning against SNP now, so DH and I are both voting Lib Dem. Lib Dems have been punished for the university fees thing for long enough (and it wasn’t even their bloody fault! They were a minority in a coalition government).

gamerchick · 28/12/2025 12:44

I don't think any party could have fixed the mess the country is in. Especially it immediately which is what people were expecting.

Problem is, people are thick. They can't link events to why shit life is now.

It's always "done nothing ' with the small boat crossings. What exactly do people want to see happen? Blow them up like the US?

BlossomLeaves · 28/12/2025 12:45

I still stand by my decision to vote for them and they are by far my preferred option of the parties that could be in power. I support some of what they have done so far, dislike some, but am broadly in favour of the direction of travel - albeit it is slower than I’d like and I wish they were braver (primarily more ‘left’ ) in the changes they are trying to make and that they were stronger on the environment and our relationship with Europe in particular.
I also wish we as a country had woken up sooner to the capture of our media and the influence it has on the vast majority of the population’s understanding of the truth/reality.

worstnotholiday · 28/12/2025 12:45

Ah. I was going to agree with you op but your reasons / evidence of their failure is so fuelled by reform / tabloid racist scaremongering that I’ll distance myself.

I no longer trust Labour, because of their shocking lack of commitment to their own policies, their near constant u turning, and their failure to show any backbone in regard to any controversial issue. They flip flop and try to please everyone, which has the impact of pleasing no one and getting nothing done.

Disagree, I can think labour are shit but think Tories are shitter.

Yes, that’s what I am annoyed about.

Yep it’s baffling. No growth for nearly 2 decades, no investment, declining public services and now an ageing population but one party can turn it around in a few years? Nope, it’s never changing now, too late.

Clockyclockz · 28/12/2025 12:49

We need long term solutions & cross party consensus but too many voters don’t want that.

All of which sounds like it would fit nicely on the sort of Reform pamphlet, that shits it's way through my letterbox.

HelpMeGetThrough · 28/12/2025 12:52

Having seen my brother over Christmas, I don’t think there could be anyone more red than him.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he had Starmer and Reeves printed on his underpants.

Datchydoo · 28/12/2025 12:52

Nope. Hate this government more than I have ever hated a government in my life. Seriously concerned about the way this country is heading into a socialist dystopia.

PutTheCakeDOWN · 28/12/2025 12:53

It's always "done nothing ' with the small boat crossings. What exactly do people want to see happen?

The Rwanda plan would have deterred all criminals and chancers, and seen boats stopped overnight.

And no, im not a Tory. I’m also now party less.
