A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Yes, I'm getting the same feeling. 🤞

Perhaps admins reading round robin messages instructions to report X posts. You can only do that for so long before a pattern emerges

I just read a new name for Starmer, which made me chuckle.

The human ring-binder….

Apt 😁

So, there has to be two parents both working full time hours (or, presumably a single parent working full time hours?) earning less than the benefit threshold, with three or more children and be born in the UK?

That's some threshold.

I can't find anything on how many of those 3700 who both work ft, are also foreign born.
Very tight threshold.

I don't see what was wrong with the 2 child cap that we had in place. 🤷‍♂️

The MN left’s reactions to these u-turns does make me laugh. They’re argued as being responsible, thoughtful policy change after listening to responses and conducting careful analysis (which would mean it was never done in the first place).

Utter bollocks. They’re all panicky climb downs after Labour backbenchers start making threats. Starmer’s not in control, he’s blowing in the wind.

It must be soul destroying for loyal ministers and MPs.

They are funny.
Is a u-turn not a u-turn when Labour do it? 🤔😂

It’s the same hardcore reporters - we all know who they are….

Yeah, could be. Although that should have been obvious for a few years. Perhaps the polling has confirmed it.

There is now an attempt by some to cast doubt on the veracity of the polling conducted by MN.

It’s strange. What difference could it make if the polling of MN is skewed? You’d have to be a bit thick to think that MN represents the country.

If MN posters’ views and experiences were representative of the nation there’d be few people still married, three quarters of the population would be on weight loss jabs and there’d be constant riots in the streets about selfish parking.

EmeraldRoulette · 08/01/2026 17:26

I've been looking at various things online

Someone here mentioned going to a Spectator event post budget. I was looking at that and wondering if there's any social element. Quite expensive. Then I stumbled on the Unherd club. Never heard of it before - pardon the pun.

Then I think to myself, yet again, I live in an area where I should meet loads of not-left-wing people. Why do I never meet them?!

I can go into London for stuff, but I'd really rather not.

I am quite antsy on account of the weather - hence why I was looking to see what was on.

The owner of one of Darren Jones’s favourite pubs has threatened to charge the senior Labour figure double prices if taxes go up.

James Savage, who owns The Eastfield pub in Bristol, told The Telegraph that an increase to business rates would “literally be the end for a huge number of pubs” and that he planned to pass on the cost of higher taxes personally to Mr Jones.

The Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister is understood to be a regular at The Eastfield and has used it to hold meetings with his constituents in the past.

Tee hee….

The mn poll is 20% which is still under general polling anyway.

Doubling prices for people you don't like? Who would do such a thing?

Oh wait... High Value Council Tax Surcharge (Mansion tax).

What's good for the goose...

Exactly. The story is about whether MN has moved towards Reform, not whether the country has. We have pollsters for that.

I would expect MN to be less Reformy than the country, just because of the sex bias and the social bias inherent in using a site like this. So the interesting point is that even MN is, on a historical basis, surprisingly showing some greater Reform support. Which you don’t need statistically rigorous surveys for. You can just read the threads!

Edited to add:

I suppose the Labour posters are just trying to persuade themselves that this government isn’t really hated for being dishonest, hypocritical and incompetent. Especially after they spent years accusing their opponents of the same! It’s just fascist propaganda to suggest discontent with Starmer and his fellow failures.

TheNuthatch · 08/01/2026 18:24

This week's FON poll. Not much change.

When you look at current polling intention by sex, then 20% is pretty close to the voting intention of women more generally.

I think that media request thread was a good place for mnhq to see the types of posts. I’m pretty sure we’ve all experienced it and now mnhq have too.

100%.

On one of the earlier threads, as soon as just the usual hardcore remained, it became a pile on, so I left.

Simple.

Just stepping away from the UK for a second

Someone I rate highly said that the leader of Iran would be gone by Friday. I think he said that on Sunday. Anyway, looks like tonight there might be a lot of trouble. So he may be right. Iran may be free by the weekend. But it's going to be dreadful getting there.

Trying to get information is not helped by MSM completely ignoring it though I suppose they're not reliable anyway

The other thing that concerns me - any extremists who need to escape the regime, Starmer will be falling over himself to have them here. It's ridiculous to be thinking that as a time like this, but here we are. As with AAEF he will think it's a high priority to have a bunch of crazy people here.

Hyperobject · 08/01/2026 19:53

Thanks for the heads up. One to watch.
Have to admit, I haven't been paying attention to anything international because I can't take any more Trump news. Will keep an eye open for any news from Iran.
Agree with your last paragraph too.

Here, is an interesting Poll from NEU The National Education Union which explains their extremely Militant Positions

Delta Poll 12-15 December 2025
Green 37% +25%
Labour 29% - 40%
LibDem 11% +1%
Reform 10% +6%
Cons 6% +2%
Your/Par 5%

I think this explains how 'Left Wing' the Teaching Profession is in general over 71% of members openly supporting Left of Centre/ Far Left and 'Fruit and Nut'. I know the NEU is the most militant of all Teaching Unions, but such Poll Numbers are 'diabolical' and frightening. This, because we have huge numbers of Teachers who are not 'aligned' to mainstream and the Average Joe's beliefs . Thus, children are indoctrinated with political ideologies views that most be 'extreme' in nature.
