Too beautiful

Does everyone else fine their children just too beautiful for words? I’m not so idiotic that I think my kids are actually genuinely extraordinarily beautiful… so I assume other people feel this way… do you? Mine are 2 and 4 if that matters.

Yes. My boy is just perfection.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic? Of course every mother thinks their child is precious and beautiful but I know realistically that there are kids out there more subjectively beautiful and less so..

SimplyBudgie · 19/12/2025 16:36

Your post contradicts itself and makes zero sense op.

toobeautifulforwords · 19/12/2025 16:36

The weird thing is, when I look at old photos of them I find them less beautiful. It’s like their present state is just overwhelmingly beautiful to me (which I guess is evolutionarily advantageous so not odd really)

It's evolutionary.

It confers a survival advantage so is passed on to the next generation.

teaandtoastwouldbenice · 19/12/2025 16:37

Ahhh when my boy is poorly or sad he’ll sleep in my bed - even though he’s nearly 12. When I wake up and see him sleeping, I genuinely think he is beautiful

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 19/12/2025 16:38

I have this when I look back at pictures of them as new borns. They really were little gremlins and to me they were the most beautiful things in the entire world.

TheChosenTwo · 19/12/2025 16:38

No!
I think one of my dc is quite pretty, one might grow into their looks (awkward teenage growing phase) and the other poor sod looks quite like me 😂
but they’re all absolutely gorgeous to me inside and out.
Too beautiful for words though? No.

exhaustedbeinghappy · 19/12/2025 16:39

Yes, I don’t think it ever changes - DD is a young adult now and although I know she’s definitely not in the category of effortlessly/properly beautiful, I do look at her sometimes and think blimey she’s so gorgeous!

No, it’s not sarcastic. I’m genuinely interested whether people always find their own kids overwhelmingly beautiful (that’s why I included their ages). As I say, I’m not supposing my kids are any more beautiful that other kids but I was just interested to know whether it’s a ubiquitous feeling for parents of kids of any age.

That’s so nice ❤️

Yes, I think mine are utterly beautiful. Their skin glows (not in a weird extraterrestrial way, in an ‘eats vegetables and plays outside’ way) and their eyes sparkle (not in an Edward from Twilight way).

Ah / that’s interesting! FWIW i consider myself a pretty ‘logical‘ parent which is why I’m interested in how I feel when I look at them.

It’s not just evolutionary as one of my children is not biologically mine or my partners and I think her beauty shines out of her.

its like her soul shines out to me (we fostered her and she stayed)

Our brains have an inbuilt bias to think our own offspring are beautiful. It’s a bewitchment. That’s why you see new mothers cooing about having the most gorgeous baby and yet it’s usually some snot covered red faced thing with sticking out ears that would never win a Next baby modelling contract.

hmmmm - is it? Surely I can both think they are incredibly beautiful but acknowledge I am probably very biased?
