What Christmas food have you bought, eaten and replaced so far?

Despite promising ourselves we’d wait until Christmas Eve we have eaten:

1 pack of Lidl shortbread
1 pack of Lidl shortbread bought to replace the first one. Now need to buy another but not until the weekend.
DH polished off the almond and rosemary crackers plus a bag of taralli.
1 pack of Lidl spiced biscuits.
2 x caramelised onion cheese wheels.
1 x black garlic cheese wheel.
I’ve opened the pickled onions (see above).

We need an intervention!

Ah, reminds me of the Derry Girls. 'They've had the very Tunnocks, Mary'.
😂

Tub of Heroes
Red onion chutney
Wensleydale with Cranberries
After Eights
Whoops!

Nothing yet. Mainly because it's all locked in my dh office and he won't let anyone in there.

Even the dogs are barred, after one nicked a massive panettone off the bookcase and made off with it, pursued by all the other dogs and my dh thundering after them:)

Are you searching any rubbish he takes out? And checking he's not smuggling replacements in?

I have only had two mince pies so far. But this has inspired me to crack open the ginger wine I think. Normally the kids eat the tubs of chocolates without breaking the security seal some how. Ds13 ate his entire advent calendar on day 1. He has got quite significant SEN so not sure if I should have reminded him it's only one window a day ( but is also guilty of the eating chocolates without breaking the security seal so I suspect he knew this). Normally we eat the pringles. To the extent its pointless kidding myself we have any for Christmas eve. I have bought the frozen Christmas food for this reason so far.

A packet of Marmite cashew nuts! 🤣

@EchoedSilence

please please tell me where you got the QS orange and strawberry creams?
They are my absolute favourite of any boxed chocolates!

I bought them in B & M.

Since they came on sale in November, we’ve had 4 panettoni (classic recipe from Italian Co-op).
They were voted best own brand variety by an online consumer poll, so that’s alright…

6 Pack Walnut Whips (well I had 3).

Other half & I got a bit too excited about discovering walnut whips had the walnut back (yes, we need to get a life!) and ate a full packet at the weekend. To save others, they tasted better nostalgically rather in reality.

The M&S walnut whips are vastly superior to the original branded version.

One and a half full sized Christmas cakes ( not just me) and they can't be replaced - took 2 months to make!

Just baileys and hotel chocolat espresso martini. Food shop is delivered 8pm Christmas eve so no chance of early pickings

The viral M&S gingerbread cookies barely last a day here. There’s a reason people wait around the bakery aisle for them to be put out…

NowThatsWhatICallRecent · 16/12/2025 08:21

The only things I'm buying are frozen and they're staying in the freezer Xmas Grin

Eeesh You cut it fine! I could NEVER take such a risk on a delivery like that. Very Brave.

PegDope · 16/12/2025 08:39

@Hollyhobbi Omg my DH was looking for panforte. If you don’t mind telling me which Dunnes, that would help 😁

We get our delivery from Walkinstown.

PegDope · 16/12/2025 12:19

@Hollyhobbi thank you!

I’m closer to Blanch so I I’ll try there first.

Things I would not have eaten if M&S didn't have such stupidly short sell by dates. Things I've taken to the office party that were meant for this route.

Waitrose cinnamon knots. One box eaten.....three more boxes will be purchased next time I go because otherwise they'll never make it to Christmas Day.

Aldi also have delicious cinnamon knots, probably less expensive than Waitrose. I know this because I have eaten two boxes of the to make sure they are consistent.

hby9628 · 16/12/2025 12:43

Aldi sour cream pretzels. I’m on pack no 3 and I’m being restrained. They are delicious

PegDope · 16/12/2025 14:42

I went to Dunnes and found the panforte. I am giving it to DH in his stocking so no danger of it being eaten.

I also popped into Tesco to try to find the famous Penicorn (from the ugly Christmas tree decoration thread) and failing to find one I got a mini panettone for DD for breakfast Christmas Day and got myself a mini pandoro. They are going into the Christmas booty press and I will not be touching them!

Two packs of chocolate orange shortbread biscuits 🤪, a chocolate orange (not replacing as they don't taste the same) and some pringles....but they did 3 of us lol

Ooooo where are the biscuits from??

blankcanvas3 · 16/12/2025 15:07

I am on my fourth replacement of Bailey’s.
My second box of heroes (though I blame DS for this)
I will have to go back to M&S for crisps at some point.
My Christmas Eve picky bits have been completely depleted.

shellyleppard · 16/12/2025 15:08

@Hmmmmwineandchocs i got the proper Scottish shortbread from walkers.... chocolate orange and warm spice ❤️
