What Christmas food have you bought, eaten and replaced so far?

Despite promising ourselves we’d wait until Christmas Eve we have eaten:

1 pack of Lidl shortbread
1 pack of Lidl shortbread bought to replace the first one. Now need to buy another but not until the weekend.
DH polished off the almond and rosemary crackers plus a bag of taralli.
1 pack of Lidl spiced biscuits.
2 x caramelised onion cheese wheels.
1 x black garlic cheese wheel.
I’ve opened the pickled onions (see above).

We need an intervention!

2 large boxes Monty Bojangles
And the boxes purchased to replace them.

Dd was really shocked at first but she came round when l told her we always used to scoff dc’s selection boxes… and the replacements.

A pack of mince pies. Crosta Mollica fennel biscuits.

FridayNighFeeling · 15/12/2025 21:34

Baileys - replacement coming tomorrow and if DH wants more before Christmas eve, he'll need to buy his own.

EmeraldDreams73 · 15/12/2025 21:40

Two of the very long boxes of Jaffa cakes (third now wrapped so hopefully safe...), several stocking filler tubes of chocs, alllllll the mince pies...

....and two Tunis cakes. Was so excited to find them (grew up in the 70s) I forgot to check the dates. They went out at the end of Nov. I found a long-dated one the other day which will survive the journey to my parents'. We've eaten the others, but between us - and they're tiny compared to back in the day.

BartholemewTheCat · 15/12/2025 21:40

Several boxes of mine pies and we’re on the third tub of Celebrations/Quality Streets despite it only being me and DC7 at home. For shame.

Pray tell me where did you get your Tunis Cake from . I am eyeing them up in Tesco but the reviews were not good .

Beesandhoney123 · 15/12/2025 21:44

Nothing yet. Mainly because it's all locked in my dh office and he won't let anyone in there.

Even the dogs are barred, after one nicked a massive panettone off the bookcase and made off with it, pursued by all the other dogs and my dh thundering after them:)

awakeandasleep · 15/12/2025 21:55

Large Toblerone, chocolate orange, 2x Quality Street, Lindt Celebration box, Cheeseletsx2, crinklesx2(sp), cracked open the Baileys and Port tooGrin

Christmas starts December 1st!

Anotherdayanotherpound · 15/12/2025 21:56

I love reading about everyone’s festive food habits. For me, December is all about mince pies and stollen and other Christmassy baked goods. Except the cake! That’s only allowed on Christmas Day (completely arbitrary, it’s just how it was growing up). Chocolates etc are for Christmas Day and afterwards

BringBackCatsEyes · 15/12/2025 22:01

About 45 bags of chocolate coins and 3 bags of chocolate sprouts.

Apart from this I am very restrained.

Wrapping never acted as a deterrent in our house.

But mince pies are meant to be eaten throughout the festive period, no?

mumofoneAloneandwell · 15/12/2025 22:02

Box of biscuits
Box of roses
Posh sausages

😄😄

Thecatspjymas · 15/12/2025 22:03

Chocolates. Very many chocolates

Glitchymn1 · 15/12/2025 22:04

None- 🙈last year it was pretty much everything. We were then still eating it in January.

Tesco! I never normally see them (my mum gets one at 6am occasionally) but this year they've had a lot more. They weren't as awesome as the 70s originals but they were SO much better than the version they did a few years ago. They do at least have the proper pink and yellow icing!

By the way, we froze one as a backup plan on the basis that it wouldn't go mouldy at least. Then when I found one with a long date, we defrosted the backup and ate that! Scientific findings: nothing was badly compromised, the cake was perhaps a bit drier but would definitely do it again. You're welcome 😇

AwfullyGood · 15/12/2025 22:12

6 Pack Walnut Whips (well I had 3).

Other half & I got a bit too excited about discovering walnut whips had the walnut back (yes, we need to get a life!) and ate a full packet at the weekend. To save others, they tasted better nostalgically rather in reality.

Biffsboys · 15/12/2025 22:27

Numerous bottles of wine and some of the nice cheese

AlexaBeQuiet · 15/12/2025 22:32

Terrys Chocolate Orange x 2
Tub of Hero’s
Tub of Celebrations
Made sausage rolls, ate them, so had to buy more puff pastry and sausages today,

TTCbabynumber22025 · 15/12/2025 22:36

I’m pregnant and been sick with it so I’ve not done too badly this year. Just a tub of miniature heroes and I’m halfway through the M&S mince pies and some Christmas biscuits from Lidl.

One year though I ate all the Christmas chocolates from the tub and didn’t tell DH, so I just kept replacing the tub but then… they sold out! So I had to fill up the last tub I bought with the smaller boxes 🙈

AHH thank you so much l am going to get one from Tesco 😋

shellyleppard · 15/12/2025 22:40

Two packs of chocolate orange shortbread biscuits 🤪, a chocolate orange (not replacing as they don't taste the same) and some pringles....but they did 3 of us lol

MYOB12 · 15/12/2025 22:41

Mince pies. Eaten and replaced.

Walnut whip. Buy one box of 6 every year, usually September time….they don’t last 24 hours. I’m the only one that likes them. I won’t replace them though!

My Christmas wine!! Bought it when it was on offer several weeks ago. Drank it. Replaced it. Drank the replacements. Have replaced the replacements…. So far so good….. 🫣
