Just horrendous. There was a big Jewish gathering on the beach. Jewish festival goers targeted by two gunmen. At least ten people dead according to police.

If anyone in London would like to show support for the Jewish community here and around the world you will be welcomed at the Menorah lighting in Trafalgar Square tomorrow…

Disgusting.
And yes obviously it was an anti semitic attack. Two men of middle Eastern appearance - who according to eye witnesses, put a black flag with an emblem on it over their car - before shooting people celebrating Hanukkah.

Whenlifegiveslemons · 14/12/2025 10:31

Its horrendous, absolutely awful. A terrorist attack in this day & age, on a peaceful beach should never happen. Ive seen no reports its linked to the Jewish community being targeted - so to suggest that in this thread is incorrect.

It was a well publicised event that involved celebrating Hanukkah on the beach. Do you really think it’s a coincidence that they chose a celebration of Hanukkah of all public events taking place in Sydney that day?

Your post was one of the worst things I’ve seen on MN. Maybe you didn’t intend it but go back and think about history linking Jews and badges.

My god, that was absolutely not my intention!!! How dare you even insinuate that. My meaning was there wasn't anything suggesting in the reporting that the Jewish community is targeted. You (and im sure many many others - gross!!) really have taken my comment way out of what I meant - id never insinuate anything so awful.

haven’t you been reading the numerous news reports stating that a jewish festival was being specifically targeted?

Australia has strict gun laws. How did they get the guns?

sciaticafanatica · 14/12/2025 10:38

@Whenlifegiveslemons don’t talk utter shit!
it is obvious to the whole world that this is/was a terror attack on the Jewish community.
have you tried opening your eyes?

That is the bravest thing I've ever seen. Total hero, must have saved many lives doing that.

GentleSheep · 14/12/2025 10:39

There'll be a live press conference soon.

Actually, No! I saw a friend had marked themselves save & googled bondi & most headlines said beach shooting - with little more context.

We are gross for reading what you wrote?

Really?

MuyPuy · 14/12/2025 10:42

You knew exactly what you were posting @Whenlifegiveslemons
Dismissing and diminishing that jews had been targeted. Do you know anything about 20th century history? Doesn’t this behaviour from a certain sector of society ring any historical bells?

If you make posts that are only a little bit antisemitic (just a bit of light denial) you’re going to have to accept that sometimes people will think you meant something even more antisemitic. Them’s the breaks.

Alternatively you could think a bit harder before you type and avoid antisemitism altogether.

Please don't click this video, it's a link to a Raise the Colours IG page.

I haven't got a clue what Raise the Colours is. Does it change the bravery of the man wrestling the gun away in the middle of a terrorist shooting in any way?

Utterly ridiculous to take issue with the link and not the event it is portraying.

People who want to get their hands on a gun will find a way. Just like anything else illegal they want to acquire. The IRA managed to get flamethrowers and rocket launchers here in NI.

Terrible terrible tragedy. Those poor people. How can anyone not see this as antisemitic?

Don’t try and deflect please. This is about a horrific terrorist attack on the Jewish community. Nothing else.

Agree.

LadyMary50 · 14/12/2025 10:50

I woke up to this news this morning and am horrified at this appalling barbatric violence perpetrated on innocent people.I hope this is a wake up call to our government to stop the offensive pro palestine marches calling for intifada. But i wont hold my breath..

xmasstress12 · 14/12/2025 10:50

What a horrible attack although as pp said not unsurprising at all. Look at the anti semitism on the thread, why does MNs let so much of it stand?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 14/12/2025 10:51

not shocking- we as a community know this is going to continue to happen as long as the west recognises Palestine, exits the Eurovision- and generally continues to send a message of poor Islam bad Judaism.

littleburn · 14/12/2025 10:51

It is absolutely appalling. Globalise the intifada in action. And shame on the posters whose first reaction to this horror is ‘don’t click on the wrong link’ and who apparently lack the basic reading comprehension to understand a Hanukkah celebration was the target.
