I think I’m with the rudest family in the world

Not only have they made a family meal and all sat down round the table to eat it whilst ignoring me completely, they are all farting and burping away.

I’ve done the only thing I can and retreated to the sofa that is farthest away from the table. I have not been invited to sit down anywhere or offered a drink.

How do I fucking leave politely???

It was 7ish????

You said your friend picked you up at 8 ?

collectkdsasmed · 14/12/2025 09:26

I’m mostly curious as to what condiments you’d have with shepherds pie?

HappyFace2025 · 14/12/2025 09:42

P0loGirl · 13/12/2025 23:17

Uber is on its way

Why do you need a Uber if you only live down the road?

Cat makes sense. Apparently starving all the time, doesn't want to drink, abd goes into people's houses uninvited.

I'm gussing an older cat as it'd expliain why she's bot at the table demading food and the smell of wee.

Cats also can't tell the time. I think.

Best post on the thread!😹

Alfgingeorgie · 14/12/2025 10:27

You haven’t explained enough about how you came to be there. Unless the person who is cooking has invited you to stay for dinner, it is polite to leave when they eat.
If they didn’t even offer you a drink when you arrived, then cue was that it should be a brief visit.

Alfgingeorgie · 14/12/2025 10:32

You were there hours? They were making it clear by not offering you even a drink that you weren’t welcome to stay. They probably prolonged serving up dinner as they wanted you to go. Maybe your friend’s family were annoyed that your friend had invited you without agreeing it with them first. You need to read the room. So you should have left.

CypressGrove · 14/12/2025 10:40

OK, the OP said the friend offered to pick her up at 8pm for the visit so probably planned to eat dinner first. But then the OP showed up around 7pm so they figured they'd have dinner after she left. But she didn't.

Tdcp · 14/12/2025 10:42

So the op was picked up at 8 but arrived at 7ish. She lives down the road but needs an uber. She's been there ages but has barely arrived there. She didn't eat beforehand but wasn't expecting to eat there and was shocked when the family ate their dinner at what 9:30ish?!

Not buying this whole thread tbh

My cat can tell the time. How else can she demand dinner at the precise time she normally gets it?

Don’t forget she mentioned condiments with shepherd’s pie, the weirdest comment.

Alfgingeorgie · 14/12/2025 10:53

was the OP expecting to stay for dinner? If so did OP take a bottle of wine/flowers/other gift which is the polite thing if you’re invited for dinner.
if was not expecting dinner then should only have stayed an hour max.

Bodypumpmum · 14/12/2025 10:58

Op sounds abit weird

myhaggisblewup · 14/12/2025 11:10

With the OP's posts this has to be the daftest thing I've read today on here🙄
Why stay so long somewhere you are are being ignored and a house stinking of cat's pee.
I would have left within half an hour because I'm not a total mug who puts up with being ignored.

scotchpotch · 14/12/2025 11:17

Oh come on, I don’t think I’ve ever read so much drivel. Clearly either a piss/fart/burp troll or a windup. OP’s friend came and picked her up at 8 and yet she arrived at 7? She lives just down the street and yet got an Uber? Chinny reckon.

AnnieLummox · 14/12/2025 12:09

collectkdsasmed · 14/12/2025 10:43

Salt and pepper are condiments. Not weird at all.

The rest of the thread is batshit, yet this is what you pick up as weird?!

vanillalattes · 14/12/2025 12:15

Sounds like OP turned up pissed as a fart and wouldn't leave.

FOJN · 14/12/2025 12:17

Well this is all very strange. OP was picked up at 8 but arrived about 7ish. She started a thread at 21.48 complaining they were sitting down to eat and she hadn't been offered anything to eat or drink. She's decided to leave but is still waiting for an Uber at 23.17. At 23.23 she assures us she's had enough to drink!

OP was invited to friends house for a few hours, got shit faced and her friend decided not to encourage her to stay by offering her dinner hoping she'd get hungry and go home. Hope the hangover wasn't to rough this morning.

P0loGirl · 13/12/2025 23:15

I’d barely walked in the door!!

Earlier in the thread you said you'd been there ages. So which is it?

On what basis did the friend invite you? For dinner or just for post-dinner drinks? If the latter, why didn't you eat first?

StephensLass1977 · 14/12/2025 12:24

Everything you've said is contradictory. You've made this story up. All your replies are single sentences. On the off chance it's real, well then isn't it obvious that you weren't welcome and they wanted you to piss off? Weird way to relay it to you, but you'd have to be blind not to see it.

Eyeshadow · 14/12/2025 12:56

notatinydancer · 14/12/2025 09:17

You said your friend picked you up at 8 ?

She also says she’d been there hours.

It’s either completely made up or she’s trying to make it look better for herself by claiming she didn’t massively outstay her welcome.

It was 7ish????

Two posts previously you wrote "My friend came to pick me up at about 8pm". You've also posted that you live "just up the road" from your friend, so why did she need to pick you up and why are you getting an Uber home? Surely the distance is easily walkable if it's just up the road?
I smell BS. What is it about some people that they feel the need to fabricate a story and post it on MN? Just desperate attention-seekers I suppose. 🙄

They think it’s really funny apparently.

If the house was disgusting & stinks of cat pee would you even want to eat there

It's like a time travel experiment.
