I think I’m with the rudest family in the world

P0loGirl · 13/12/2025 21:48

Not only have they made a family meal and all sat down round the table to eat it whilst ignoring me completely, they are all farting and burping away.

I’ve done the only thing I can and retreated to the sofa that is farthest away from the table. I have not been invited to sit down anywhere or offered a drink.

How do I fucking leave politely???

I’d barely walked in the door!!

You said you had been there ages. Which is it?

CypressGrove · 13/12/2025 23:33

Everyone is strange here. Inviting someone over at 7 or 8 pm would generally include dinner?

User28425 · 13/12/2025 23:34

I think the OP wants people to search her name and find her last post, where she asked Mumsnet users to check her blog site, made because she had a book being published soon. It worked for me, and it said there were lots of others looking. There is a ticker on the website showing how many visitors the blog has had. Good way to look like you have a lot of fans If your writing.

Uber is on its way

You said you lived just down the road. Which is it?

Franjipanl8r · 13/12/2025 23:34

How long had you been there? Was she expecting you for a quick cuppa or wine and you just overstayed?

cardibach · 13/12/2025 23:36

P0loGirl · 13/12/2025 23:23

It was 7ish????

You said she picked you up at 8. And that you lived just down the road. And that you had been there ages. Keep your story straight.

vodkaredbullgirl · 13/12/2025 23:36

🤔

CandyCaneKisses · 13/12/2025 23:37

Op could live down the road and still need a taxi home at this time of night. That’s not suspicious.

Based on this piss poor showing, I can't imagine anyone would buy a book by the OP

Not for me, it'd include drinks and maybe a few nibbles.

But generally speaking we eat dinner at 6pm and most of my mates know that.

Really? I guess if she’s in one of the places where ‘just down the road’ can mean anything up to an hour’s drive. I’ve lived in places like that. Generally people mean just a short walk though. I wouldn’t get a taxi for a short walk at whatever time.

You probably would if you lived in my area to be fair.

I disagree murasaki, I have found this thread quite entertaining now that Strictly is over for this evening, and the coming out party for IACGMOOH is over for another year - well the Australian one anyway!

User28425 · 13/12/2025 23:48

You've alluded in your blog you like to go out for impromptu late nights with friends. You've said you had barely walked in the door before they started eating, and also that you had been there for hours. You have said you definitely don't need anything to drink. You have said you were picked up at 8, and got there about 7 ISH. You said you need to figure out how to leave politely, and you apparently called an Uber over an hour later despite living down the road. So if this post is genuine, you sound like an alcoholic.

Oh it's been entertaining in a 'surely people aren't that mad' kind of way, but hardly well written enough to justify a book purchase! Poorly timed, bad structure, timings are off, plot holes, it's abysmal!

2 out of 10, see me after class kind of stuff

Cornishclio · 14/12/2025 00:01

What a strange thread. First of all if you arrived at 7 or 8? Why did you not eat beforehand? If they all sat down to eat and did not offer you any why did you not immediately leave? I certainly would not sit there starving hungry while they just sat at the table and ate their evening meal. I would imagine you outstayed your welcome and really wanted you to leave when they sat down to eat but it is bizarre they picked you up just before their evening meal. So yes they may be rude or you may not have picked up the subtle clue they wanted you to leave.

P0loGirl · 13/12/2025 23:03

There were five people all having their dinner. All very normal as they moved around me sorting dinner, condiments, etc.

And then just me on my own. Starving. 😂

That doesn’t really address my point, though.

What time were you invited over?

How long had you been there when they started eating?

Except previously you said you were picked up at 8.

Starting to wonder if you’re the same poster who wrote that massively contradictory thread about being ghosted by a man she had a ‘great first date’ with. Just making stuff up as you go along.

Oh that was batshit crazy.

Arlanymor · 14/12/2025 00:21

So you were picked up at 8pm, but you've been there since 7pm.

You leave down the road, except it's not walkable.

And you didn't eat before you left or had a conversation about your friend about food - despite the meeting time being around dinner time (so not clarifying whether to eat beforehand or not).

Nope, I give up. I give up.

Her answers aren't a great advertisement for any book...
