I think I’m with the rudest family in the world

P0loGirl · 13/12/2025 21:48

Not only have they made a family meal and all sat down round the table to eat it whilst ignoring me completely, they are all farting and burping away.

I’ve done the only thing I can and retreated to the sofa that is farthest away from the table. I have not been invited to sit down anywhere or offered a drink.

How do I fucking leave politely???

It was 7ish????

Thought she picked you up at eight?

Betterbeanon · 14/12/2025 03:25

Christ, it is like been drip fed a story as we are all trying to keep up with your latest one line updates.

Ah, away with you. Your posts are cryptic and irritating.

P0loGirl · 13/12/2025 23:14

Also, the house is disgusting. Stinks of cat wee.

Now who's being rude?🤨

Muffinmam · 14/12/2025 04:24

P0loGirl · 13/12/2025 23:23

I do and she did!

No. You said you arrived at your friend’s house at “7 ish” but also said you r friend picked you up at 8pm. So which is it? They can’t both be true.

Also why are you “starving”? And how is the shepherds pie a surprise?

And why do you need to catch an uber if you only live down the road? Why can’t you just walk home?

This whole thread is weird.

She sounds like she’s on some type of medication. Completely contradictory and weird.

Weirdo

People who gave up on waiting for the visitor to leave?

This! Sounds like you overstayed your welcome substantially.

springintoaction2 · 14/12/2025 05:09

P0loGirl · 13/12/2025 23:08

Maybe I should have left hours ago. But I kept being told it was fine

Being told it was fine? Well it wasn't.

And you were very much hellbent on Not Taking The Hint.

Yeah - you should have left at 9pm...And extremely weird of you to wait while they had their dinner Confused

Mycatsasuperstar · 14/12/2025 05:54

Reading this 5.53am, can't sleep and feel like I have over stayed my welcome on this thread!

AnnieLummox · 14/12/2025 07:03

So much is confused in or missing from this story. Was it 7 or 8 that you arrived, as you claim both? Why did your friend invite you - as in did she ask if you wanted to pop in for a drink or a coffee, or if you were free to pop by for your Christmas present? Was it really just an open-ended “Do you want to come over?”?

When they started dishing up a meal that clearly didn’t include you, why didn’t you just say “Oh, I didn’t realise you’d be eating; I’ll be off” and go? You keep saying your friend said it was “fine”, but when it clearly wasn’t (for you as well as for them), why wouldn’t you just say “No, it’s okay, I can’t stop anyway”? You weren’t trapped hours from home on a day with no transport options - you live down the road!

And all this “Preparing to leave”, “saying my goodbyes” business, how prepared did you need to be? You make it sound like you’re relocating. And why do we need to know the house smells? What does that have to do with them serving up dinner while you’re there?

Either there’s way more to this than we’re getting, or it’s a massive wind-up.

I'm pretty sure that @P0loGirl is a cat now, and not a dog as I originally thought. I think she said that she would leave delicately, and as much as I love dogs, I have never known one to leave anywhere delicately!

However, I then see the OP's user name, and think that maybe she is a horse, and the other ones eating are either other horses in the stables, or maybe a family of mice and rats. I have seen horses move quite delicately in dressage completions...

Cat makes sense. Apparently starving all the time, doesn't want to drink, abd goes into people's houses uninvited.

I'm gussing an older cat as it'd expliain why she's bot at the table demading food and the smell of wee.

Cats also can't tell the time. I think.

I think I would have made my excuses and left as soon as they started eating saying ‘ I’ll leave you to your dinner’ .
id also be asking a few more questions of my friend if I got invited there again.

Oh it's been entertaining in a 'surely people aren't that mad' kind of way, but hardly well written enough to justify a book purchase! Poorly timed, bad structure, timings are off, plot holes, it's abysmal!

2 out of 10, see me after class kind of stuff

Oh, ok, you may well br right. So I will have one further go at defending the OP - although I'm not sure why as I don't know her, maybe it is my username coming into it's own! If @P0loGirl is writing a novel, and either wants, or needs, more clicks, might she not be using her game playing, tongue-in-cheek, method of communicating with us here, rather than the more thoughtful, grammatically correct, and eloquent language, that she would use whilst writing a book?

As many others do, I miss the laugh button 😂

JLou08 · 14/12/2025 08:13

I'd guess they dropped lots of little hints for you to go and then they dropped a really big one. If someone starts cooking a meal I've not been invited to I take it as a clear cue to leave.
I've had guests outstay their welcome when I haven't had enough food for them. I plan meals to avoid any waste so it's rare there is some left to feed someone dropping in.
You should have left as soon as they sat down to eat if not sooner. Why wouldn't you?

Alpacajigsaw · 14/12/2025 08:13

This is so bizarre

EmeraldShamrock000 · 14/12/2025 08:15

They were very rude, you should have left hours earlier, it's easy to sense when you're not welcome.
I wouldn't visit the stinky home again.

ChristmasinBrighton · 14/12/2025 08:28

Well this is clear as mud.

I think, maybe, OP was invited to see her friend who lives down the road, but OP possibly has mobility issues and had to get an uber.

After two or three hours of socialising, OP had missed cues that it was TIME TO LEAVE and the host family have resorted to a family meal to make it clear to her.

They will all put their pyjamas on in a bit and OP will still be mystified.

ThisMellowCat · 14/12/2025 08:33

Not sure what was going on here you say your friend picked you up at 8, then said you arrived at 7.
if they’re getting ready to eat you should have just said I’ll book an uber now and done it. It was clear you were in the way for you to say it in the first place, and she was just being nice saying it’s ok don’t worry.
her partner clearly felt different. Read the room and not what someone is saying. You overstayed your welcome.

Zoec1975 · 14/12/2025 08:59

Just wasted 10 minutes of my life reading this :/

MyDeftDuck · 14/12/2025 09:09

The invited you to wash up……..the kitchen is probably cluttered with washing up from prepping the meal and the hob will need a thorough wipe over. They clearly invited you over to occupy yourself doing that while they stuff their faces before expecting you to clear the table and wash the plate and cutlery. Wrong way round I know and obviously it is always best practice to wash up as you go along when meal prepping.
Did you not make an effort in conversation when you first arrived???? If not, they clearly think you’re the hired help.
