I think I’m with the rudest family in the world

Not only have they made a family meal and all sat down round the table to eat it whilst ignoring me completely, they are all farting and burping away.

I’ve done the only thing I can and retreated to the sofa that is farthest away from the table. I have not been invited to sit down anywhere or offered a drink.

How do I fucking leave politely???

Well go then. You don't want to be there and they don't want you there.

Uber is on its way

Tbf it's graceless of them not to feed you even if you've overstayed.
I remember my parents always stretching things for unexpected guests.

And encouraging them to stay even longer when we're approaching midnight? No... during the day is one thing, but not at this time. It's bizarre.

RasiedByOwls · 13/12/2025 23:18

If I called someone around to fix a boiler and they just sat on the sofa and then joined us around the dinner table, I’d be rude too.

MoveOnTheCards · 13/12/2025 23:18

Uber? Thought you just lived down the road?

P0loGirl · 13/12/2025 23:19

Frannieisnthappy · 13/12/2025 23:16

What time were you asked to arrive?

My friend came to pick me up at about 8pm

I do but I’m not driving

I'm pretty sure that @P0loGirl is a cat now, and not a dog as I originally thought. I think she said that she would leave delicately, and as much as I love dogs, I have never known one to leave anywhere delicately!

However, I then see the OP's user name, and think that maybe she is a horse, and the other ones eating are either other horses in the stables, or maybe a family of mice and rats. I have seen horses move quite delicately in dressage completions...

CandyCaneKisses · 13/12/2025 23:20

You’ve overstayed and should have left before their food was finished since you weren’t offered to stay for dinner.

GeorgeEdwardsMum · 13/12/2025 23:20

It does sound like you were invited casually to pop in and majorly outstayed your welcome. The eating without inviting you is the biggest hint (you probably missed the rest) that it was time to bugger off.
Even my best ftiends that live fairly close by don't stay for several hours when the rest of my family are home.
Did you forget you only lived down the road...

Walking is an option. In fact it was a couple of hours ago.

JetFlight · 13/12/2025 23:20

This is weird. What time was your friend expecting you? Have you been there before?

Tigerbalmshark · 13/12/2025 23:21

OP, what time did you arrive, given you hadn’t eaten dinner yourself so obviously earlier than 6?

I’m betting 4pm myself.

P0loGirl · 13/12/2025 23:22

I have 100% had enough to drink!!

I’m betting 4pm myself.

She's claiming she was ferried their by the hostess who was desperate to see her, so drove her there at 8. But then she also claimed she lived just down the road.

Haha, you said 8. Not 7.

FableLies · 13/12/2025 23:24

You're contradicting yourself. Are you drunk? Are you artifical?

JetFlight · 13/12/2025 23:24

Did your friend invite you for 7? How was the invitation worded? Pop over on Saturday? Come over at 7pm on Saturday?

PlayingDevilsAdvocateisinteresting · 13/12/2025 23:25

Ok, so I am reverting to a cat ot dog, having seen the OP's latest offering, but then it could still be a horse if her friend picked her up using a horse box.

Right. I have decided that she is a horse after all, and so I am putting my hand down on the table for the last time, or at least until we get the answer!

Are you in the UK?

Because it’s 11:30pm here. Have you been there for 3 hours being ignored?

snugasabug75 · 13/12/2025 23:28

😂

TinselTitts · 13/12/2025 23:28

It makes even less sense that you'd call an Uber an hour and 15 minutes after they sat down to dinner 🤣

Why didn't you call it at 10pm when they started tucking into their freakishly late family shepherds pie?

PlayingDevilsAdvocateisinteresting · 13/12/2025 23:30

I had missed the 'uber' update, but I put my final hand down, so I can't change my mind now - but I still think she is something sort of pet!

cinnamongirl123 · 13/12/2025 23:31

OP none of this makes any sense
