This is the bumper Christmas issue with the added challenge of all the work Xmas brings and feelings it might bring up...but we're here. Highs and lows. 🌲🌲😴🤕🤗

Boxing Day is better 😊

DS didn't want the breakfast options so I have told him to eat his selection box in time honoured tradition. I'm sat with coffee 2 and my new books. Thanks all for your kindness yesterday. I'm a bit less maudlin.

Rest rest rest is what I need to do today though I think more mental rest too....I need to not think about anything much. Might get a breath of air in the field. It's a beautiful day here.

We had lovely day yesterday, had dinner out with my step son and husband. I'm puggled today, the pain is high so I am still in bed watching The Gruffalo haha.

It's beautifully frosty here, I won't manage the dog walk today so the spare pawrent is in charge. All the supermarkets are open today, I do think it's awful they cannot close for one more day!

My youngest dog enjoying his new toy on yesterdays walk. Xx

Morning!

im pretty sore and stiff today, we are going to attempt a brief walk. My tummy isn’t the happiest, I’ve gained 3lbs over the last week and I’m sure it is all bloat!

MewithME · 25/12/2025 22:02

Hope you had a good day @Tiredandwired2 😊

Thank you, it was ok. Better than last year but Christmas still took more from me than I had to give despite cutting things right back.

I feel the next week will be nicer and much more chilled. Hope it's the same for others 😊

MewithME · 26/12/2025 11:09

@NippyNinjaCrab he is adorable 🥰

I treasure my memories of my dear old boy opening his presents. He used to drive us mad with his squeaky toy and was semi delirious eating schmackos 😊

In bed watching Gruffalo sounds good to me. Take it easy.

Lovely doggie @NippyNinjaCrab !

Nice to see all the Christmas survivors!

I have had another night of racing heart so time to slow down. Travelling to DD’s and an hour or so chatting obviously a bit much. My IBS was really painful so I took a hot water bottle with me! Too much adrenaline. Now facing a repeat trip/chat on Monday but since it’s not Christmas any more my busy brain can stop for a bit.

We still have no landline or broadband so relying on my smartphone but needs must. Dug around behind behind our TV and found a cable for an aerial so we can get all the Freeview channels now but they are so awful! I hate game shows and people being loud. We’ve got our old dvd player out but all our DVDs are in storage, so I have ordered The Barsetshire Chronicles and Dinner Ladies in case we still need entertainment next week. Otherwise it’s books non stop!

Barchester… knew it looked wrong. I’ll watch Alan Rickmansworth all day long.

I hope you’re all ok.

I used to swim a lot when younger, regularly swam early morning before work and kids, when I lived near a pool. Loved it. Mentioned this to one of my adult daughters a couple of weeks ago, and yesterday got the best present from her: a lovely gym bag, towel, sliders, etc, and a day pass to local country club that has a warm pool and spa. So, my early New Year’s resolution is to start swimming again. I’m looking forward to it, just ordered a swimsuit online and a lovely wrap. Then I’m going to join the spa if my day goes well. I really think it will benefit my MH and help with fibromyalgia symptoms.

I hope you all have a good day, I feel relieved that the big day is over, pressure is off, and I’ve deliberately arranged a couple of quiet rest days, so I don’t crash. Look after yourselves x

I think there’s actual research about swearing and the health and pain relieving benefits.

TeaAndStrumpets · 26/12/2025 11:53

Yep ! I have a book (haven't finished yet) called Swearing is Good for You! 😁

One of my SIL’s presents was a book called ‘How to swear in 93 languages’ or something similar. He had us in fits yesterday, looking up phrases, saying them in daft exaggerated accents, some sounded so romantic. Then he’d give us the English version! Said to my DD, ‘I’ve just told my MIL to get to Fck, come back, then get to Fck again in Italian, and she said, aw that sounds so lush”. Ha ha, then he got a clip round the ear! I say ‘lush’ a lot btw, part Welsh, so I’m allowed!😂

Having a quiet day today, DH was at work this morning.

Pain levels are pretty high today and Costochonderitis is back with a vengance. I often get it after being in the car for a long time and we went to DS yesterday whuch is 2 hours away so 4 hours in the car all told.

Still it was a lovely day DDIL cooked a great dinner. DH had made a white chocolate cheesecake to take with us so I indulged which as I am on WLI and have stuck to a really healty diet for 7 months ( lost 5 stone) was a real treat.

DGD was pleased with her presents and sent us photos this moring if her and her Dad starting her BookNook this morning.

DH and I only bought each other a small gift to unwrap, but then when we got home sat for 2 hours looking a holidays for our main present to each other. Its for our 25th wedding anniversary and we havnt been away abroad in 8 years.
We finally found and chose one in Cyprus in a 5* hotel for 10 days in September. Cant wait.
