This is the bumper Christmas issue with the added challenge of all the work Xmas brings and feelings it might bring up...but we're here. Highs and lows. 🌲🌲😴🤕🤗

@Tryonemoretime my first allergy was wine, then I used to have chocolate as a treat instead, then I became allergic to chocolate....and so on and so forth!

Songlines · 18/12/2025 19:29

@TeaAndStrumpets Thank you 😀

FFSToEverythingSince2020 · 18/12/2025 19:40

@ForLoveNotMoney That’s wonderful that you’re starting to feel better after your hospitalization! A bit annoying about the schedule for the influximab injection, but hopefully you’ll be able to reach them tomorrow, fingers crossed. Is the clinic actually open on Christmas Day?

@Songlines Good luck with your MRI! I know they always seem to be scheduled first thing in the morning and I really don’t enjoy them; CT scans are about 98% easier for me. But my grandfather used to not even notice really that he was in one, really! He said it was a good opportunity for a nap. So! I hope it’s a good opportunity for a nap for you 😂

@Tryonemoretime They can take our health. They can take our freedom. But they shall never take OUR WINE! Wine

@TeaAndStrumpets Allergic to chocolate?! What a cruel, cruel world this is.

😬😬😬 That's terrible! Wonder if palm oil is the chocolate problem. And some people are fine with wine that contains no sulphates. I'm clutching at straws for you!

FurForksSake · 18/12/2025 19:43

Evening all!

Super, super tired. Made it to hydro but only just.

Tomorrow I have a catch up with my boss (sick leave still) and I’m hoping he’ll be a good quick chat. I can feel the stress of this and meeting up with my mum really, really building. I’ve not seen my mum in months, I’m sure it’ll be fine, but I’m sort of dreading it. Well take the gifts and the kids will be a good distraction and hope the garden centre has somewhere for us to sit at 12 on a Sunday before Christmas. I’m glad it’ll be out the way before Christmas and hopefully we can have a reset and manage a monthly visit to stave off my daughter guilt.

katystar · 18/12/2025 20:01

New to this thread but could do with the support. I’ve managed to a gp appointment but ignoring the advice to go to a&e tonight but will go first thing. Genetic blood condition so severely anemic and a bowl condition. Managed to pick up a virus at my transfusion last week, the only time I’ve left the house in 3 weeks so I wasn’t ill for Xmas day and not been able to keep food or drinks down so blood pressure is low and I need fluids. Hoping if I go at 5am it should be quieter.

FurForksSake · 18/12/2025 20:21

@katystar I’m sorry to hear that. Do you have any hard stops for when you will seek emergency care if things worsen before 5am?

At least you can pack a bag and a pillow and blanket and present calmly. Might 111 be of any help with making ED aware you are coming and guidance on wait times?

Have sprouts and kale...hopefully they'll be your next allergy!

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/12/2025 20:55

@Tryonemoretime sadly when I had allergy testing done it came back as allergy to cocoa beans! Also milk, which I was unaware of. I went dairy free for a while just out of interest and found I couldn't re introduce it! Such a pain.

FuzzyPuffling · 18/12/2025 20:57

I've been clock watching since about 7pm to see if it's bedtime. It is now.

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/12/2025 20:59

@FuzzyPuffling i can't eat those or any green veg! Weirdly I am fine with watercress so I buy bags and bags and make a sort of slurry I mean pesto which I can chuck in with rice. Rich in vitamin K I believe.

Are you counting sleeps until Christmas fuzzy?

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/12/2025 21:03

@FurForksSake garden centre sounds ideal, always a quick turnover of tables.

@katystar hope you get seen quickly. How miserable for you.

katystar · 18/12/2025 21:05

@FurForksSake if I get anymore dizzy or my blood pressure drops below 75 I have an at home machine. I’ve spoken to a friend who works in a&e and she said it’s about 12 hr wait currently and will text me at 4:30 to let me know what it’s like. Much easier to go prepared bag is packed by the door and ready for the morning. Also can charge devices and power banks up. Trying to keep positive that it will just be fluids and home hopefully.

FurForksSake · 18/12/2025 21:05

@TeaAndStrumpets that’s a good point, usually indeed they do turn over quickly. We’d ideally get there for opening for a bacon sandwich and a coffee, but I did not want to rock the boat.

FuzzyPuffling · 18/12/2025 21:07

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/12/2025 21:00

Are you counting sleeps until Christmas fuzzy?

No, I'm just plain knackered!

FurForksSake · 18/12/2025 21:07

@katystar fingers crossed for you, sounds like you’ve made sensible, grown up plans. I hope you can nestle down and occupy yourself, podcasts or shit telly to make the time go.

FuzzyPuffling · 18/12/2025 21:10

katystar I do hope you can be seen speedily and that everything is ok.

katystar · 18/12/2025 21:15

Far too many nights in a&e whilst trying to get diagnosed and a treatment plan sorted out. Trying to sip water every few mins to hopefully get my hydration up and blood pressure should come up as well.

Stressybetty · 19/12/2025 00:01

@katystar wishing you the best for the next few hours.
Strange day, had an unexpected present in the post with no sender. Turned out to be my exDH who's going through a divorce 😵‍💫
Had a horrible hot flush at the start of the week and felt v tired and ropey since. Am on HRT and don't usually get them.
3 more working days then 9 days off. Looking forward to sleeping and bit of sorting out and cleaning.

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/12/2025 00:06

@Stressybetty that is so weird that he would send you a present!

Orangesandlemons77 · 19/12/2025 05:24

Up strangely early, couldn't sleep. Just catching up. Katystar hope all goes Ok at the hospital, I have found in the past early morning is a good plan, you could have been waiting through the night otherwise and they don't seem to do much at night. Hope you are seen quickly and get sorted out x

VikingNorthUtsire · 19/12/2025 07:19

Good luck at the hospital @katystar . Sounds like you are well prepared for a long wait.

Catching up on the thread, it's noticeable how exhausted everyone sounds. This is definitely a tough time of year. But Sunday is the shortest day, then the year will turn towards daylight and warmth and spring.

Not much change here. Adult DS is home and hopefully able to help out with cooking and the house. FIL still very unwell. Christmas plans all on hold because of that but it's ok - obviously that's the least important thing right now.

Selfishly, I'm really hoping I still get to see my own family as I have barely seen them this year due to distance and illness

FuzzyPuffling · 19/12/2025 08:06

I have a rogue crocus coming into flower outside my front door. What a promise!

MewithME · 19/12/2025 08:17

Morning all. Haven't quite caught up with you all. It's been a real grind at work getting 'done' before my annual leave. Today will be a long one.

I have DS home at lunchtime then a couple of hours before he goes to his Dad's. We're getting lunch from the chippy as a treat as per our Xmas tradition. I'll be back at my desk after he goes. Tons to do still.

@FuzzyPuffling I've seen blossom. It's freaking me out!

Hope you get sorted @katystar . Sounds rough. Flowers
