I know we like a nose around other peoples houses. Might need sunglasses for this one.

Awful. And way over priced for Devon.

But nowhere near as lovely. Or as well done.

My firstly thought was Charleston too! But Emily Powell's version is definitely not in the same league.

I like colour/pattern and am definitely a maximalist when it comes to interiors, but that's way to much colour and pattern for one house! And not worth £2m imo.

I'd not want her turning up on my doorstep to maintain it either!

mumofoneAloneandwell · 04/12/2025 15:47

2million for a terraced house, not even in zone 2, london?

Insane price but I do think the decor is cool, and great of her to offer to carry on painting it

But tbh, you wouldnt want her in your house every few years with a paintbrush 😄

I think she should lower the ask to 1million and accept offers close to it

I see there is at least one child's bedroom and it occurs to me that the house is so very full of an extremely vivid personalty, shall we say. I wonder how much personal space is it leaving for the child?

There was one room that looked pretty bland, maybe even disappointingly bland. Maybe that is the child's room

Charlize43 · 04/12/2025 15:53

Good Lord! Hope she manages to find a buyer who loves the Vanessa Bell on crack look! Not as subtle or as well done as Charleston.

Is it art or an act of vandalism? Given that the person who buys it the moment they overpaint any of the rooms will be depreciating the vastly overinflated value of the house, so could be a big liability. Also this Curate's Egg could be a real bother when it comes to resale.

I love to know how this is going to play out: If it sells, or whether in 12 months she'll be pulling out the Magnolia & White Satin on the advice of her Estate Agents?

Years ago, I remember reading about a man who'd painted the inside of his council house in the style of the Sistine Chapel.

I see the garden bench has been left unscathed thankfully

5128gap · 04/12/2025 15:55

I think if it was better executed it would actually look rather lovely. As it is, it looks like an over indulgent parent has given their child free rein to express themselves in the hopes they follow in their own artistic footsteps.

onetrickponee · 04/12/2025 15:57

I could buy at least three houses on that road for £2million so it's a no from me

WallaceinAnderland · 04/12/2025 15:58

Even if it did appreciate in value, who the hell is going to pay more than £2m for it? You'd never sell the place.

I'd live in the garden tbh

It’s got strong Charleston vibes. (As in the house)

I thought exactly the same!

Busier than Charleston though, a fair few of the rooms at Charleston are mostly handpainted patterns rather than a full-on mural.

I love this one. Although I'm horrified that I'm in the same council tax band as them and their house is worth 5x what mine is.

Council tax is really outdated but no government wants to touch it.

Daisy12Maisie · 04/12/2025 16:01

I don’t like it. Each to their own but it’s not for me. She may well be a famous artist selling paintings for thousands of pounds but to me it looks like a big, chaotic mess.

Frequency · 04/12/2025 16:02

I love it, but I don't want it if I have to pay the £2 million myself. That money would get you three times the house in these parts.

OvernightBloats · 04/12/2025 16:03

As another PP said, she has HUGE self-belief and this must be one of the reasons why she has had some success. She has been very busy with exhibitions so obviously is very canny about PR and putting herself out there.

Look at this thread - her house is now being discussed - she has got more attention. Very good marketing.

Gawd. They're not very good at it are they? Despite all the practice.

I was just about to say the same !

hobbledyhoy · 04/12/2025 16:06

ThatCyanCat · 04/12/2025 13:46

It's obviously godawful, and yet I'm drawn to the creativity, individuality and total lack of fucks.

Same. Well put.

SapphireSeptember · 04/12/2025 16:07

Why's it £2 million? And why is there only one bathroom to five bedrooms? Enquiring minds wish to know!

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 04/12/2025 16:07

It's a TERRACE, FFS !

MissPobjoysPonies · 04/12/2025 16:08

Lot of self promoting or going on there. Admire the brass balls but not for me :)

It's like someone had a bad acid trip and decided to paint it. NFW will they get £2m for it. And Brixham isn't very nice, neither is the house.

You read my mind..
Ingest LSD
Decorate the house
Wallah here you go🫨😵‍💫

Oddly , I think that's a studio.Maybe she doesn't like the distraction.

WallaceinAnderland · 04/12/2025 16:12

Wallah?

BillieWiper · 04/12/2025 13:23

Yeah I don't even hate it. But to my eye the painting looks amateurish. I certainly couldn't do any better! But it's totally fair for me to say I don't think it's good. Art is in the eye of the beholder.

I guess if she's some famous artist then one of her fans would love it.

I don't think they're very good either. I agree they look amateurish. Nice colours though. Funnily enough I think her abstracts are better than her figurative.

What's the animal above the fireplace? A teddy bear?

Voila?
