I know we like a nose around other peoples houses. Might need sunglasses for this one.

PermanentTemporary · 04/12/2025 13:07

Love it! Would offer under that price though.

WinterBerry40 · 04/12/2025 13:07

Wow , someone liked painting !

BobbyShaftoWentToSeeSilverBucklesOnHisKnee · 04/12/2025 13:07

I love it, my house is very bright and colourful too.

ChristmasMantleStatue · 04/12/2025 13:08

And there is a so-called 'mansion' according to the Government. And its not even in London.

I quite like the rooms- but the hallway and staircase are a bit much IMO.

Bookpage · 04/12/2025 13:09

Interesting. Does all that art increase or decrease the value?

Is the artist anyone of note?

Is it priced as something special for the area or as something where the buyer will need to do a lot of work? I know Devon has become expensive, but £2m?

GreatUserName · 04/12/2025 13:09

Love it!
Certainly has personality.
Bet it made the agents smile, taking the photos.

BillieWiper · 04/12/2025 13:09

Gawd. They're not very good at it are they? Despite all the practice.

The artist sells paintings for £5k+

"Emily Powell has also committed to maintaining the work after the sale, refreshing and hand painting every five years for the rest of her life for the future owner - something uniquely additional to the sale of the house."

It’s like an explosion in a paint factory 😱

fluffiphlox · 04/12/2025 13:15

It’s got strong Charleston vibes. (As in the house)

It’s Emily Powell’s. Just because someone doesn’t paint like Constable doesn’t mean they’re not good at it. Similarly, you not liking it doesn’t mean they’re not good at it, just that you specifically don’t like it, which is obviously fine.

Better this than the crushed grey velvet and mirrored surface new builds everywhere 🤷‍♀️

TeeBee · 04/12/2025 13:19

Oh Jesus, that's hideous.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 04/12/2025 13:19

Does that mean if you buy it you are never allowed to redecorate, you have to keep it as is? How can that be enforced? What if you bought it and painted the whole thing white?

Irememberwhenitwasallfieldsroundhere · 04/12/2025 13:22

It's like someone had a bad acid trip and decided to paint it. NFW will they get £2m for it. And Brixham isn't very nice, neither is the house.

Yeah I don't even hate it. But to my eye the painting looks amateurish. I certainly couldn't do any better! But it's totally fair for me to say I don't think it's good. Art is in the eye of the beholder.

I guess if she's some famous artist then one of her fans would love it.

Do you have to pay extra if you just want to whitewash the lot.

TeaRoseTallulah · 04/12/2025 13:24

I really don't like her work at all.

Doggymummar · 04/12/2025 13:24

Beautiful

GovernmentFundedSteak · 04/12/2025 13:24

I love it! Dont have 2million though. Sadly.

Climbinghigher · 04/12/2025 13:24

Blimey - that’s a lot for Brixham. Surely living in it would devalue it as the price reflects the artist rather than the house. Even with the top ups it will eventually lose a lot of value.

Notexactlyasplanned · 04/12/2025 13:25

Wow! I love it as an art installation but I’m not sure I could live there - fascinating idea though to live in an art piece, and an interesting choice from the artist to commit to the maintenance.

MidnightPatrol · 04/12/2025 13:25

How much would it sell for otherwise?

Assuming this isn’t aimed at someone living in it - rather a ‘piece’ for an art collection…?
