A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

We are bracing for the budget. 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

So- when do you think the massive class action for damages will kick off? It will be coming. And a number of lives destroyed in the meantime. Do none of these people think?

Dozens of children will be given puberty blockers on the NHS from early next year after a trial was granted ethical approval.
The study by King’s College London will recruit about 250 girls and boys aged 10 to 15 who identify as transgender, and who have parental consent.
More than half will be injected with a hormone-suppressing drug that pauses the physical changes of puberty, such as breasts, periods or facial hair.
The trial is meant to fill an evidence gap about how best to treat gender dysphoria in children, but critics have threatened a High Court challenge to stop it, saying recruiting to the study is like putting “lambs to the slaughter”.

The trial was given the green light on Friday after UK regulators provided ethical and regulatory approval

this is just absolutely sick. literally every aspect of this country is fucked. They are experimenting on children.

No no no no no. What th is going on? In England. They’re going to experiment on children??

‘The young person will also have to show they have a good enough understanding of the potential impact of taking puberty blockers to give their consent’

?!! They’re suggesting child is able enough to understand the implications of what they’re doing?? JFC 🤬🤬

“This won't be puberty because their reproductive system won't be awakened, it will be a chemical insurgents into their body…and so they will go into a childlike adulthood that nobody has really conceptualized.”

What the HELL??!! I thought we'd got past that nonsense in the UK. That is grotesque, ten??

Ive said it before on MN. Growing up as a tomboy teen with a love for horses and the outdoors I would have taken anything that helped me get out of puberty in a heartbeat. Puberty meant my body changed in ways I did not understand or enjoy. Bouncing and growing breasts made riding uncomfortable. Periods the same. Body changes suddenly meant that I was the object of leering from grown men and suffered repeated sexual assault from the creepy uncle in the family. I hated my breasts, I hated periods. If i could have identified out of that I would have. If I could have taken any medication that would have kept my body in a pre-pubescent stasis I would have begged for it.

I just do NOT think that is unusual for many many girls. But you grow, you develop. I have children. I have a normal life.

The thought of anyone thinking I could give informed consent to puberty blockers and understanding the lifelong consequences- it's a nonsense. This 'study' would be a travesty and a tragedy.

This is plain wrong and wholly unethical.

There should be a separate thread just for this.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/11/2025 07:31

I fail to see how they can prove Gillick competence in 10-15 year olds about the long term effects of puberty blockers.

Don't they need to do so proper research / follow up on people who've had puberty blockers first, to be able to give an informed explanation as to what they're going to do to them, and what the future means.

This is disgusting.

Clearly they should first follow up on those children who were treated previously (c2000 iirc), but the clinics would not co-operate and share the data.

This will be a bigger scandal than thalidomide, infected blood, you name it. And all because so-called doctors believe in something called 'gender identity'.

ProfessorIDareSay · 22/11/2025 09:54

"To take part in the puberty blockers Pathways Trial, children must be under 16 years old, must have a diagnosis of “gender incongruence” according to the World Health Organization’s diagnostic manual ICD-11, and must have experienced that gender incongruence for more than two years. For children, the diagnostic criteria include “a strong desire to be a different gender” to their birth sex, a “strong dislike” of their sexual anatomy, and “make-believe or fantasy play, toys, games, or activities and playmates” that are “typical” of their preferred gender, rather than birth sex. "

Stereotypes, in other words.

Fucking hell. I just despair. Why are adults backing up the idea there’s divergence from gender stereotypes?

I’m so annoyed we’re going backwards on this.

If the trial succeeds it’ll be everywhere again.

ETA I thought this was the FWR thread I’m on, but still annoyance still there.

ProfessorIDareSay · 22/11/2025 10:18

"NHS England also intends to force adult gender dysphoria clinics to hand over data which they refused to share with University of York researchers whom Cass had asked to obtain to help draw up best practice guidelines for how the NHS should help such vulnerable young people.
It will outline the health outcomes seen among the 9,000 people who as under-18s were cared for by the gender identity development service at the Tavistock and Portman NHS mental health trust.
Six of the seven trusts did not cooperate, prompting Cass to complain in her report that a potentially world-leading research project had been “thwarted” by NHS secrecy.
Wes Streeting, the shadow health secretary, said he was “pretty angry” to learn about the blocking tactics. “Under a Labour government there will be accountability for that – you’re not going to get away with it,” he said."

Well Wes, it appears they have got away with it. What are you going to do about it?

It is just batshit. All your doing is disincentivising people paying into pensions.
They are actively putting people off from being fiscally prudent.

twistyizzy · 22/11/2025 10:36

Everyone shall rely on the state for everything. Noone shall have what someone else doesn't.

Catatemyhomework · 22/11/2025 10:39

I know right. The problem is, there won't be anyone left to pay for the state. Then what happens? This is seriously worrying. It feels like communism is edging closer.

Yes and yes.
I was obviously torn to shreds for saying the F word on the F thread.
I still am vehemently of that belief though.

Twinkyinthecity · 22/11/2025 10:43

Labour are actively discouraging aspiration. Discouraging a natural desire in many to succeed, achieve, do better. What’s the point in trying if it’ll all be taken away and given to feckless lazy people (as well as those who need it, who no one is saying shouldn’t get). Urgh

That's because it is

Konstantin Kisin posted what was almost a plea about this on X a couple of weeks back. You can probably find it because he included a cute little childhood picture - you can totally see which one is him - with a post about growing up under communism.

my late father warned me about the return of communism when he died in 2018. Some people are very good at the long view of stuff. There are other areas where he was very good as well.

he had a totally different concern, he thought I should be working a lot more to squirrel away more money.

I said to him, if the state are going to take away all my money, I'm not going to feel better that I spent my weekends working. (I did do that when I was trying to raise My first deposit for a flat, and then for awhile afterwards but I probably stopped mid mid 30s.)

People just won't work if there is no benefit to them for doing so. My lovely friend I met yesterday has a property she rents out from her first marriage. She said it's all too stressful now and she's selling. Her and her husband are planning on reducing their hours, with a view to retiring in 5 years. They're in their 50s. I know so many people doing this. My sister has done it. Basically, people are giving up.

there's a number of international organisations that worry me though.

Yes I've mentioned this before
And mostly people say to me "but most people can't afford to do that"

Correct. But if you remove all of those people from the workforce, you've got less tax to collect, less experience within the workplace... young people see no incentive to carry on...

And what a horrible society that would be to live in. Sorry, I'm probably repeating myself - but I attended a seminar that was aimed at getting over 50s back into work (it was sponsored by a big company and they were targeting the people who basically left because they could afford to!) and it was really striking because the people on the panel had no incentive to offer.

The chair was hopeless and practically shouting that people should just work because they should have a moral imperative to do so. I left before the end and so did quite a few others.
