Christ almighty, that's a mean comment.
I'm not a fan at all of shop-bought stuff with bits stuck on. Nor do I like book folds, glitter glasses, or drinks bottle with a Cricut slogan stuck on.
But lots of people do. And some stuff on this thread is quite well-done, if it's to your taste.
I have run an online craft group for about 14-15 years and it's got around 120k members. Every year, stuff similar to what's been posted on this thread flies out.
If you're trying to earn extra cash and it's not possible/you can't find an employed position, handcrafts/handmade stuff can be a really good earner. I'd say that's the very definition of useful?
I wouldn't personally buy most of what's on this thread - but it's just personal taste, isn't it? I think those resin gonks are cool - oh, and the crochet wreath was pretty. I quite like the bike wheels too - I'd hang one on the shed in the garden (but not if the flowers are plastic, I'd prefer dried flowers).
Your definition of "nice" is entirely subjective.
It's bad enough to mock genuine efforts from people who are just trying to earn some money at Christmas - and fuck knows, lots of people are struggling right now - but telling them to "do something useful" to earn money?! Come on now.
I agree with @MincePudding entirely.
