The dismembered elf leg had me howling.

I quite like the Santa sweet cones! My kids would not say no...

lcakethereforeIam · 29/11/2025 16:45

johntorodesfatcheeks · 29/11/2025 10:02

How about some sweet cones that seem to have acquired confectionery related CPTSD.
or a light up giraffe bottle: clearly I missed the bit at school where a fucking giraffe formed a part of the nativity or indeed Santa’s sleigh.
there are always some remarkably phallic knitted toadstools to help convey the sheer magic that is fungi at Yuletide
final offering for now is more completely useless tat serving no purpose fashioned from a cut of Christmas tree and a cheap bauble to festoon your house.

That tree looks like it's about to eat that bauble. Just need the Jaws music played with slay sleigh bells.

None of the photographs on this thread depicts anything that could accurately be described as really nice. And if people want extra money, why don't they do something useful to earn it?

Christ almighty, that's a mean comment.

I'm not a fan at all of shop-bought stuff with bits stuck on. Nor do I like book folds, glitter glasses, or drinks bottle with a Cricut slogan stuck on.

But lots of people do. And some stuff on this thread is quite well-done, if it's to your taste.

I have run an online craft group for about 14-15 years and it's got around 120k members. Every year, stuff similar to what's been posted on this thread flies out.

If you're trying to earn extra cash and it's not possible/you can't find an employed position, handcrafts/handmade stuff can be a really good earner. I'd say that's the very definition of useful?

I wouldn't personally buy most of what's on this thread - but it's just personal taste, isn't it? I think those resin gonks are cool - oh, and the crochet wreath was pretty. I quite like the bike wheels too - I'd hang one on the shed in the garden (but not if the flowers are plastic, I'd prefer dried flowers).

Your definition of "nice" is entirely subjective.

It's bad enough to mock genuine efforts from people who are just trying to earn some money at Christmas - and fuck knows, lots of people are struggling right now - but telling them to "do something useful" to earn money?! Come on now.

I agree with @MincePudding entirely.

LatteLady · 29/11/2025 16:52

I feel I may be winning, just found these on Facebook Marketplace... just because you can, doesn't mean you should. And I am someone who makes her own tree decs!

Mostly the listings are pretty good, decent looking homemade things.
This, however, is in a league of its own.

Is the red a balloon? Can't make out the material.

MincePudding · 29/11/2025 12:26

Wow. Really nasty and bitchy thread.

Some of those stuff is really nice and even the stuff that isn't os clearly made by people trying to earn a few extra quid.

Noone is making you buy it and I think.its really scummy to make and contribute to such a nasty thread.

I'm sure plenty will reply to this telling me to ignore it if i don't like it (as you could have done yourselves about people putting themselves out there) but maybe one or two of you will feel the shame you should about being so nasty just to feel like you're having a cool-girl bitch fest.

Grow the fuck up.

So, which of these hideous concoctions is yours?

MincePudding · 29/11/2025 17:09

johntorodesfatcheeks · 29/11/2025 13:49

What, are you implying that someone who had in fact made some of this shite and then come across it being tittered about on mumsnet might spiral?

perhaps you’d better share your due diligence policy and enlighten us mean girls in that case

I'm suggesting next time someone screengrabs your child's Facebook account and Snapchats their class about what a loser they are, you take it on the chin.

Or better yet, pile on as you and many others have done here.

PInkyStarfish · 29/11/2025 17:16

People have had all year to look up FREE tutorials to make NICE things to sell the following Christmas if they are hard up. A whole year to learn new skills, save items to craft with and to practice.

Then their efforts would be appreciated and people would buy from them.

Just churning out some lame crap without any real thought put into it, or effort or skill, just gathering a load of crap and gluing it on things in the name of Christmas, quite frankly deserves to be ridiculed.

ticktickticktickBOOM · 29/11/2025 17:24

I'm not sure what is happening in this scene.

These ones always amuse me. Stick a load of Cadbury products available literally everywhere in a box and charge £15-20 quid for it in the hope that some muppet will cough up.

Well it’s not like you can get a collection of chocolate packaged together in Christmas packaging…..

I agree. Mumsnetters so often claim there are bullies at the school gates, bitches at work, they're victimised by MIL, someone's been talking about precious little Timmy etc but all this thread is doing is just publicly tearing down other people, it's the same thing, they're just on the other end of it now. You wanna poke fun at others, fine, do it with your mates, on WhatsApp, privately, whatever. But to be bitching on the internet, anonymously, about what real people have done, is still being a bully. People are just alright with it because it's nameless.

i'm not one of those soppy "be kind" people, but come the fuck on. Some of the pictures posted are people trying to flog tat and have the public pay ££ for it but some of it is probably people who are genuinely skint and doing whatever they can. Sometimes think we've lost the sentiment behind "if you have nothing nice to say, just say nothing." There's nothing cool about being an arse on the internet.

My local sales pages are a bit disappointing, nothing truly shite yet... The absolutely useless wool wreath has to be my favourite.

@LatteLady A couple of those figures look unnervingly like poppets. I'm not entirely sure I'd want one of them in my house...

You could be on to something there - crocheted vaginas might be a better money spinner than the utter shite on this thread. Crochet boobs are already a thing so....
