So what due diligence did you do to assure yourself that your screenshots won't be seen by the people who made them? Because I'm sure noone on Facebook is also on mumsnet.

Suggest you think back on this thread next time someone mocks your family and remember that you were quite happy to join in when it was someone else's mum, brother, daughter or other family member.

Well, if people are that sensitive, they shouldn't try and sell their tat on Facebook!
Or label it with my 4yo wants to boost their pocket money!

Or just, you know, use a laugh emoji:

😀😁😆😃

It gets a bit tiresome, though, if somebody makes a really witty comment and then you get 30 people quoting it in the thread just with a laugh emoji.

Much easier if the poster gets the clear message personally that lots of people appreciated their humour. I use the heart emoji too for this now.

@MincePudding

Oh go and have a swig of Sherry or a glass of Eggnog and lighten up!

Due diligence? Are you joking? And if they do, so what? Do you think the veil will be lifted from their eyes and they'll realise that their treasure is in fact 💩? You think they aren't the teeny tiniest bit aware of that? They are flogging crap for cash. You are being very patronising to them - as well as to posters on here. Shot in the dark, but which one is yours?

If a family member put together and tried to flog any of the simply dreadful examples on this thread, believe me I would tell them (and vice versa).

There was a mum at our school who used to sell an absolute ton of her homemade stuff every school fair. Some bits were cute but mostly really basic shit cut out of felt etc. The worst is where she would buy really ordinary toiletries (eg Dove, L'Oreal etc) and wrap them in cellophane with a ribbon and people would buy them for twice the price they cost.

Grow the fuck up

You need to take your own advice and unclench. It's obviously a light-hearted thread about hilariously awful tat that is so bad it's funny. If it's not your thing/sense of humour then scroll off.

If the posts were on the sellers' pages, then your argument might have some traction, but they aren't, they are on a different site and anonymous (although the sellers selling utter rubbish probably would deserve it). I'm sure the sellers are aware they aren't selling creative masterpieces, but basic items that they haven't spent much time on (with the hope of shaking down a few mugs).

I'd suggest you stop being grinchy

Also, different people like different things.

There may well be people on this thread thinking "Ooh, now I actually really like that!" and going to find the seller's page to buy one as a direct result!

I use the❤️one instead.

I'm on another regular thread and that's what we've agreed to use instead of 😂

Those prickly cats would have sold many times over on here!

First time I’ve come across this gem of a thread. Hilarious. I’ve just had a look on our local FB for any howlers but nothing at the moment, which is disappointing. People do love a bit of tat don’t they. Keep ‘em coming x

A fantastic wildlife wreath plus snowmen things, one of which looks like he has ginormous testicles and another has been confined into a globe. Perhaps he is on the naughty list??

I’m cracking up 🤣🤣🤣

To be fair, that's only what a lot of the manufacturers do themselves: add a bit of brightly-coloured cardboard and sell something dull and functional for twice as much as a 'gift idea'.

Same with Easter eggs.

He must rue the day he 'well and truly embedded' the figurines in plaster of Paris. They're probably saleable individually.

Did he use an upturned Quality Street tin as a base? That must be one of the old massive 'vintage' metal ones going on how long he's been hawking it for, and quite valuable by now.

Politicians247UnderwearExtinguishingService · 29/11/2025 14:31

These are 'only' £5.50 - rather special, I think...

And as a result, eBay will auto-generate a message to him saying "People want this!"

Even though the distinct lack of sales might beg to differ!

MincePudding · 29/11/2025 12:26

Wow. Really nasty and bitchy thread.

Some of those stuff is really nice and even the stuff that isn't os clearly made by people trying to earn a few extra quid.

Noone is making you buy it and I think.its really scummy to make and contribute to such a nasty thread.

I'm sure plenty will reply to this telling me to ignore it if i don't like it (as you could have done yourselves about people putting themselves out there) but maybe one or two of you will feel the shame you should about being so nasty just to feel like you're having a cool-girl bitch fest.

Grow the fuck up.

None of the photographs on this thread depicts anything that could accurately be described as really nice. And if people want extra money, why don't they do something useful to earn it?

True, as I really like the bycicle wheels! I love the flowers and repurpose of the wheels rather than them going to landfill.

I don't think it's embarrassing. I like it too. They're quite popular around here to raise money for the local wildlife trust.

There's a farm near me that sells these in the run up to Christmas - they are popular.
