I’m bookmarking this thread. I’m always amazed and the shite people make, think it’s amazing and that people will want to buy it.

Good luck with this thread. At Easter I posted a photo of an “Easter chair” which was a plastic chair with Eggs etc on it. I had my arse handed to me because those items are made by single mums who are trying to make a living and I should be ashamed of myself.

I saw an ad for a home-made Basque cheesecake on FB this morning. I mean, I'm sure it was delicious but who would buy something like that from a complete stranger when you have no idea about how clean their kitchen is, how particular they are about use-by dates, how long it's been sitting in their fridge waiting for somebody to buy it? Just no!

Ta-da! What every teacher wants. An empty wine bottle filled with fairy lights

I’m really hoping for a meat bear this year or a bouquet made of chocolate bars and napkins

That might be OK if it was made by a small child and given to their teacher, but who thinks someone would buy it as a gift?
During lockdown someone in our village made similar things with rainbows/nhs etc badly drawn on and was trying to get a campaign going for every household to buy one (at a price of £12 per bottle) to put in their window. Needless to say I didn't see any on my daily walk!

WelshBookWitch · 20/11/2025 15:01

Oh i love these threads - best part of the run up to christmas. I'm a crafter myself but I'm very very careful about giving homemade gifts.

WelshBookWitch · 20/11/2025 15:07

This is the best offering local to me so far, but its still only November so plenty of time.

And if the legs by the looks of it came off of old dining chairs.

Around where I live, people buy catering packs of various sweets and mini bars, separate them out, package them in various plastic vessels and wrapping and flog the resulting unexciting creation

Whowhatwhere21 · 27/11/2025 21:12

We have someone selling these handmade baubles for £22 for 6. Last years offering from the same person was what looked like handmade baubles out of felt, 6 for £15.

I'm just pondering whether to get this home made festive carrot or the giant Christmas crucifix, tastefully swathed in tinsel and lights.

It did make a guest appearance on a thread on Christmas threads. The vendor must get so excited to see the number of hits....then think " oh bugger it's those MN Vipers having a laugh"

PInkyStarfish · 28/11/2025 15:53

Christmas themed dog who looks like it has Ebola.
