The BBC are screwed, aren't they?

Are we ever going to find out who actually made the monumental fuck up? Rather than just a homogenous apology from the top.

Is this person/people still working for them?

I actually understand why Trump is doing this. You can't just let something so wrong pass by or they'll just keep doing it.

A composite image shows a picture of Trump in a blue suit and yellow tie on the left, and a picture of BBC offices in London on the right

Trump says he will sue BBC for at least $1bn over Panorama edit

The US president confirmed he intends to sue the broadcaster for at least $1bn over the Panorama edit of a 2021 speech.

The bbc have sat on this, showing they don’t give a shit about journalism or truthfulness

but it’s too late for Donald to sue

byt it’s a distraction from those blessed files

Why is it too late?

ohdelay · 15/11/2025 08:29

ChessorBuckaroo · 15/11/2025 08:28

Why lie?

Still waiting..

Not one suggestion yet for a more credible news outlet.

Why lie about what? Why are you defending them lying? Make yourself make sense

If it's such a non threat, why is it the top news story?

To discredit the BBC, a world wide respected media outlet. It's in his interests to control the narrative about him, particularly if he's worried about the Epstein files.

Can you be clear on what you’re saying, how did he make someone edit the programme?

ChessorBuckaroo · 15/11/2025 08:29

kinkytoes · 15/11/2025 08:26

@ChessorBuckaroo so because other outlets may be unbalanced it's ok for the BBC to be too?

No! That's not OK. We should expect far far better.

You said it needs to change. I asked to what?

Name a more credible outlet?

It's a very easy question.

Imdunfer · 15/11/2025 08:29

ChessorBuckaroo · 15/11/2025 08:15

Change to what, GB News?

Someone name an outlet that has more credibility.

I'll be waiting.

I don't know about more but Sky/ITV/etc main news has as much credibility these days, especially after this.

And on some things, the on the hour news summaries on GB news has a lot more credibility. It was the investigative reporting after many months of digging data out of reluctant official fingers of their guy Charlie Peters that exposed the fact that the grooming gangs were interconnected in a web spread right across the country, while the Beeb and our politicians were all saying "little local fracas, nothing to see here and you're a racist if you think there is".

Ditto why have the BBC never balanced their coverage of trans issues with a gender critical viewpoint, but actively prevented that view from being aired?

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 15/11/2025 08:30

LilySad91 · 15/11/2025 08:19

GB News is almost unwatchable because it tries too hard to be balanced.

It comes from a right wing perspective but always tries to balance any opinion with a left wing voice, which is very easy to find, but it's usually tedious or clickbait.

The BBC comes from a left wing perspective but doesn't always bother to balance this with a right wing opinion, and when it does has no idea who to turn to, so it is often ie a left wing Tory who doesn't disagree with the narrative

Is this an attempt at satire or what?

Surely you don't genuinely believe that GB news tries "too hard" to be balanced?Grin

I mean, I agree that it's unwatchable, but excessive balance isn't the issue!!!

And I see you too have been unable to answer the question.

It's a very easy question.

It needs to go back to basics. Facts not opinions.

Double and then triple checking output before it goes out.

Maybe reduce the scope of what they're doing so they can focus on being better at what they should be doing.

Why are you going on about other outlets? You're not making a lot of sense tbh.

When things like this come out it angers me. I'm so disappointed in and embarrassed by the BBC. There's always been media bias, but they've shamed themselves.

The BBC is the highest profile TV channel on planet Earth.

ITV and Sky are decent, but they go under the radar and have nowhere near the same scrutiny as the BBC.

Neither has the same credibility as the BBC though. Unless a story is confirmed by the BBC, as is often stated, then people won't believe it.

ohdelay · 15/11/2025 08:39

ChessorBuckaroo · 15/11/2025 08:31

You lied in your post.

And I see you too have been unable to answer the question.

Obfuscation again, my post said:
"Do you work at the BBC or something, why can't you play the ball? Justify why this particular act, splicing together two parts of a speech to intentionally change the meaning and deceive the public, was okay in your eyes."
Where is the lie in the post above? Also answer my question above, justify why this particular instance that we are talking about, the splicing together of two parts of a speech is okay in your eyes. Try to stick to the point and reduce your whataboutery.
In the spirirt of fairness I will answer your question. I don't watch TV, I read my news online, watch Youtube podcasts and have subscriptions to Netflix, Prime and Crunchyroll. I have no skin in this game and have no alternative outlet to push but hate liars and people who cover for them for unknown agendas.

GB news do not dress up what they believe as impartial reporting. They make it very clear what they believe and they always have someone of an opposing view discussing news items.

The BBC pretend that their interpretation of news and history is impartial, which is far more dangerous if, as is the case, it's not.

Yes, I listen to GB news to hear what the other channels aren't telling me and to hear the left wing point of view, which I sometimes agree with, stated as plain facts instead of an underhand interpretation and selective presentation of the news.

Their reporting of gender critical issues has been unavailable on any other broadcast news channel.

kinkytoes · 15/11/2025 08:40

I think that actually changed a long time ago for many people and this latest episode will accelerate it.

It also shows how dangerous the Beeb is. For people who trust it, the gender critical movement never existed except as a scrap between some actors and an author. Who had ever heard of Sex Matters or For Women Scotland before the Supreme Court judgement forced the Beeb to be more balanced in its gender coverage?

Hopefully our government will step in. We can't let the tiny orange tyrant bring down the bbc just due to an editing mistake. He just wants anyone in media who questions his outrageous behaviour destroyed. Hmm I wonder who else was like that.........🤔

An editing mistake?!?!?

Do you seriously believe that??

Every channel has a bias. The BBC, via opinion polls, has the least in that its viewed as having an even split.

Still laughing at the GB News comment, "tries to be too balanced". Fuck me someone is on the wacky baccy early.

Livelovebehappy · 15/11/2025 08:42

The BBC have behaved with arrogance for decades. Maybe this is whats needed to actually force changes. They deserve all thsts coming to them.

Yes agree entirely. That anyone will only believe if they hear it from the BBC shows how much power they have and cannot be used for bias.

I see the usual Reform and GBNews loving posters are on this Trump supporting thread. Can't begin to imagine why anyone would support a misogynistic, cruel war mongering creep.

You're right, they don't pretend to be impartial.

It's laughable that you think they are actually trying to offer balance by introducing the odd left wing commentator. It's also deeply worrying that you don't seem to realise how skillfully they are manipulating you.

LilySad91 · 15/11/2025 08:47

Did you know a well known BBC Radio presenter and BBC TV guest was jailed for 30 years this summer for kidnapping a child, drugging him and then raping him?

Probably not because the BBC gave it almost zero coverage. Never appeared on the News homepage and was never mentioned on BBC TV.

Check out Stephen Ireland / Pride in Surrey. He used to present on BBC Radio Surrey

They're under more scrutiny because we, the license payers, pay their fat cat salaries. The beeb is run by lots of lefty militants whose arrogance and self importance has increased to such a level that someone actually though cutting and re-editing something to fit their narrative was actually a good idea. A bunch of idiots who have now brought the corporation to its knees.

It's a very easy question.

Don't most people get their news on line? I get more unbiased reportage from X than the BBC and I can read varying opinions, not just the BBC's, then make my mind up.
