Who the hell is “Molly-Mae?” Because I’m sick and tired of seeing her doing her laundry!

AnotherNameChange2025 · 10/11/2025 20:34

I got into watching classic coronation street on ITV X and due to being ill with a kidney infection I’ve been watching tv in bed the last few days.

It seems every ad break Molly Mae is popping up on “laundry day” (seriously? 🤔) and I thought she was a child at first until she talks about “Bambi’s clothes”. I was completely confused by this until I realised she must be old enough to have had a child and named her after a cartoon fawn whose mother was murdered which seems a bit questionable.

I don’t know why it annoys me that much (maybe over exposure) but it’s making me want to smash up my TV 😂.
The way she sniffs her washing before proclaiming “that could do with a wash” why else would it be in your laundry basket?!
The rest of the clothes she puts in look clean and I’m wondering if it’s just because doing laundry is her “current obsession”.

I have no idea who she is but I’m guessing some kind of influencer, is this a way to get kids and teens to hassle parents to buy washing detergent on top of everything else they ask for? Does anyone else have “go-to” washing detergent or do they not just buy what’s on offer like I assumed everyone did?
I know it’s a bit mean to say but she has such an annoying voice and is unconvincing at even doing her washing so I doubt she would have a career in acting. I turned the tv off to get a break from her and had a rare scroll on social media and there she was again doing her washing with a pal this time 🙈.

I wish they would at least show different adverts on catch up tv, am I the only one to get this wound up over irritating ones?
The foxy bingo one is another that’s in constant rotation with another woman with an annoying voice over.

I swear I’m losing all tolerance as I get older and finding I get wound up over the smallest things, is this normal?

I was going to post on AIBU but I suspected some people would take me seriously and start the usual nonsense about trying to diagnose me with mental health issues or the people with genuine anger issues would start laying into me. It was either that or asking if I’m quite alright or on glue.
I suppose I best add a disclaimer that this was a lighthearted rant and I’m not throwing rocks at my tv in a fit of rage about an advert - no matter how annoying it is.

You have to admire people like her, in a perverse way, making a living based on other people's following of them. No real contribution but making themselves 'famous '

SpottyAardvark · 10/11/2025 20:43

She’s a hologram designed & created by AI to make £billions for Unilever by brainwashing the entire population into buying tons of their crappy stinking laundry products.

I’m an agent of the resistance. I buy Lidl own brand. Cheaper, better & no stupid annoying adverts.

Spot on, Spotty.

Those adverts irritate me as well. I did twig that she must be some kind of reality/Instagram person, because her delivery of her lines was too poor for it to be a professional actor. Also because she had to introduce herself by name (it always amuses me when something stars a budget "celebrity" who has to be introduced by name, because otherwise most people won't know who they are).

Amazon Prime keeps trying to show me a trailer for a whole series about her (or maybe just a programme?) where we get to look "Behind the lens! Behind the woman!" (or something or other). Absolutely baffled me when it first happened, because it was talking as though she was famous and I'd literally never heard of her - which doesn't happen often, even though I'm old.

But presumably there's an audience out there who has heard of her, and who wants to buy laundry detergent based on that. Good on her for making her way in the world.

The very adverts really get on my tits at the moment. Covering songs that weren't too annoying and turning them into ear grating ads

the80sweregreat · 10/11/2025 21:11

She was married to a boxer once I think ?
If I’m not sure who these people are I often just think ‘ tik tok ‘! I haven’t got it, so I rarely know who anyone is there days. Especially if they are ‘ influencers’ ( many wouid struggle to influence me to buy anything)

kiwiblue · 10/11/2025 21:12

Your post really made me laugh OP 🤣

What annoys me even more is that she's in a L'Oreal advert with a couple of beautiful models, she gets to say "we're worth it" instead of either of the actual models, and even the way she says it is so bland. I really don't get it. She's from around where I live and people always go on about it 🙄

Moulook31 · 10/11/2025 21:18

Agree with you. It is a very annoying advert.

fivebyfivefaith · 10/11/2025 21:18

I have the scent booster and really like it Blush

I've seen a few articles about her getting parking tickets on her very large car which she parks on double yellow lines outside her office. She seems to treat the parking fine as a charge rather than a punishment - this fact alone is enough for me to know I wouldn't want to be 'influenced' by her!

MissDoubleU · 10/11/2025 21:19

OP I’m not trying to be mean but I think you need to put the corrie reruns down and go outside to touch some grass.

RuncibleSpoons · 10/11/2025 21:21

She’s a homely looking woman with a penchant for laundry. Other than that 🤷‍♀️

ClairDeLaLune · 10/11/2025 21:22

Haha love your writing style OP! The solution to this is to record everything you watch on your BT vision box or whatever the other equivalents are and fast forward the adverts. Hope you get well soon!

Pedallleur · 10/11/2025 21:23

She is a product of social media and has translated that success into a career. How long that career lasts is prob her worry but if she can make enough now she might be set for life. Vogue Williams is equally annoying for me. However if they were my daughter's Id say good luck and make it work.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 10/11/2025 21:27

I do wish the adverts in classic programmes were classic adverts ~misses point of thread~

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 10/11/2025 21:34

Hi, it's me. Silliness.
And it's laundry day. Again.
Bugger.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 10/11/2025 21:36

I only know her because her tone deaf moans a few months ago stuck in my head. Wish I'd had the same minimal amount of fun as she did this summer.

Molly-Mae Hague complained about having a "funless summer" in a July 2025 vlog, which sparked backlash because she had been on multiple luxury holidays and trips to places like Dubai, Paris, and Turkey, and attended events like Wimbledon. She stated she hadn't done "one fun social thing,"

Makemeanonymous · 10/11/2025 21:42

I had heard the name but hadn't a clue who she was.
Tbh when I heard the name at first I thought they were talking about Andy Murray's dog . I think she was actually Maggie Mae though and she had a rather amusing account on Twitter at one time.
Infinitely more interesting than Mollie- Mae.

Sadcafe · 10/11/2025 21:45

Just another one of the no real skills apart from flashing her bum on love island, influencers, who’s now worth more than most of us could ever dream of. Such is modern life

BartonInthebeans · 10/11/2025 21:47

May well be just me, but adverts like that with a coifed-looking young blonde woman and the use of "Laundry Day" make me feel weirdly claustrophobic (for want of a better word). Think it's the idea that the huge corporation behind it believes that women in 2025 aspire to having a laundry day, in the manner of some 1960s SAHM dream home scenario.

Haven't seen the TV advert but there was a picture of her with some text about laundry day in Sainsbury's last week and I sort of involuntarily recoiled and veered off in the opposite direction on seeing it.

Frenchfrychic · 10/11/2025 21:50

I don’t mind her, she doesn’t bother me, I’m not her target demographic, which is young mums, but I do find her quite wooden and stilted in that advert.

deste · 10/11/2025 21:52

Just my thoughts too, who is she?

YourWinter · 10/11/2025 21:52

She sure as hell isn’t influencing me.

Deebee90 · 10/11/2025 21:53

She’s a nobody that became famous for going on love island and dating Tyson fury’s brother.

SirChenjins · 10/11/2025 21:56

Thanks for starting this thread OP, because I had no idea who she was either snd cba googling her. I suspected she'd hailed from some reality show that's scientifically proven to rot your brain, so this has confirmed it. There's another lady who does a similar advert - she has an Irish accent - no idea who she is either but I imagine another reality show?

Oh for the days when you had to actually achieve something through a skill , your brains, or a talent to become famous.

Starthecar · 10/11/2025 21:57

Molly Mae Hague, Persil , Pure Heaven Scent You Tube, what a dumb advert, would avoid product just because.
