Who the hell is “Molly-Mae?” Because I’m sick and tired of seeing her doing her laundry!

I got into watching classic coronation street on ITV X and due to being ill with a kidney infection I’ve been watching tv in bed the last few days.

It seems every ad break Molly Mae is popping up on “laundry day” (seriously? 🤔) and I thought she was a child at first until she talks about “Bambi’s clothes”. I was completely confused by this until I realised she must be old enough to have had a child and named her after a cartoon fawn whose mother was murdered which seems a bit questionable.

I don’t know why it annoys me that much (maybe over exposure) but it’s making me want to smash up my TV 😂.
The way she sniffs her washing before proclaiming “that could do with a wash” why else would it be in your laundry basket?!
The rest of the clothes she puts in look clean and I’m wondering if it’s just because doing laundry is her “current obsession”.

I have no idea who she is but I’m guessing some kind of influencer, is this a way to get kids and teens to hassle parents to buy washing detergent on top of everything else they ask for? Does anyone else have “go-to” washing detergent or do they not just buy what’s on offer like I assumed everyone did?
I know it’s a bit mean to say but she has such an annoying voice and is unconvincing at even doing her washing so I doubt she would have a career in acting. I turned the tv off to get a break from her and had a rare scroll on social media and there she was again doing her washing with a pal this time 🙈.

I wish they would at least show different adverts on catch up tv, am I the only one to get this wound up over irritating ones?
The foxy bingo one is another that’s in constant rotation with another woman with an annoying voice over.

I swear I’m losing all tolerance as I get older and finding I get wound up over the smallest things, is this normal?

I was going to post on AIBU but I suspected some people would take me seriously and start the usual nonsense about trying to diagnose me with mental health issues or the people with genuine anger issues would start laying into me. It was either that or asking if I’m quite alright or on glue.
I suppose I best add a disclaimer that this was a lighthearted rant and I’m not throwing rocks at my tv in a fit of rage about an advert - no matter how annoying it is.

I thought Vogue was annoying pretending to do her washing, but she's got nothing on Molly Mae!

Timeforabitofpeace · 10/11/2025 21:59

I have to say I don’t give a damn about her “go to” washing products. Happily I don’t remember them. But all those ads are awful, whoever does them.

There is no way vogue is going to get all that paint off her kids pristine white top, no matter how much Fairy non bio she puts in.

She’s an influencer who’s sold her soul to the highest bidder… faked a messy split from her baby’s dad (conveniently all filmed by a tv crew) so they can make a docu-series about it and plug loads of stuff on the adverts.

Hotflushesandchilblains · 10/11/2025 22:03

The Balsam Hill Christmas tree ad makes me want to break things. I will never buy from them ever, because even the name of the company now gives me the rage - that is how much the soppy, faux sentimental tone annoys me.

RampantIvy · 10/11/2025 22:07

She’s an influencer and was on Love Island.

Am I the only one who switches off when I see the word shallow and vacuous nobody influencer?

It's her white skirt and either white shirt or pale blue top that looks a target. Plus she comes in to the spotless house. Maybe that is her life tho. Meh, just people employed to sell the dream. What about those car ads where a slim well dressed woman is driving the electric car to her Uber cool tech house?

Classiccar1 · 10/11/2025 22:11

She has now appeared flogging hair straighteners and curlers on one of the shopping channels.
I found it yesterday by accident!
Gawd help me.

She'll get the nanny to use Vanish 😉

CinnamonJellyBeans · 10/11/2025 22:23

OP: You'll be fine, as you only watch TV when you're bed-bound and only scroll through social media on rare occasions. It's very unlikely you will ever see her again.

GAJLY · 10/11/2025 22:28

I cannot stand her! Me and the kids roll our eyes every time we see an advert with her in it! Wish she'd go away! Talentless individual moaning about her rich life! 🙄

MrBlobbyScaresMe · 10/11/2025 22:58

I saw her out a few weeks ago with Tommy & Bambi. Not very exciting but there you go 🙃

SuperFi · 10/11/2025 23:14

she makes my teeth itch, but she ain’t the only one tbf, she is just so meh it’s just like what’s the point?

As well as “it’s me Molly mae” sorry who??? Please please can the endless adverts for the national lottery, lotto, euro millions, bet 365 and gambling opportunities please stop!
Never have I ever joined in with any of them but the temptation to do so must be really strong for some with it all being advertised so often. A tiny little message about gamble aware doesn’t solve anything.

And the hideously cringey domino advert with the couple in the bath. Urgh!

Oh yes the dominos one is probably equally as annoying! That bath must be huge 😆.

You sure spent a lot of time there @AnotherNameChange2025 telling everyone on Mumsnet how much you don't care about Molly-Mae, how much she annoys you, and how you 'don't even know who she is.' 😂

I have had a lot of time on my hands at the moment whilst being ill.

I would say that such unimportant things don’t usually annoy me but unfortunately they do 😂.

I had quite a long rant to a friend last week about someone eating an egg sandwich on the train when I’d have just been mildly annoyed a few years ago, I think and has made me a bit grumpier.

OP I’m not trying to be mean but I think you need to put the corrie reruns down and go outside to touch some grass.

It’s a bit difficult at the moment with being so ill but as soon as I’m well enough I’ll have more important things to do. The strong painkillers I’m on are just making me so sleepy I can’t focus on anything more complex.

I was watching current Corrie but Becky’s hair also made me want to lob things at the tv and she is constantly popping up out of nowhere in her anorak.

It’s nice to know I’m not alone though in my irritation.

We will all soon be wishing for Molly Mae laundry ads to replace the bloody Christmas ads. (Yes, Asda, I am looking at you. Every arsing ad break, it seems.)

DrPrunesqualer · 11/11/2025 00:20

This is so funny OP we say this every time that advert comes on 😆

She introduces herself like we’re all supposed to know 🤣🤣🤣

I have no idea and thankfully I really don’t care either but dh and I do hav a laugh when she’s on

I don’t even know what brand she’s advertising so clearly
shes not doing a great job

I’m OK with Kevin back on the adds though 🥕

She’s earning a fortune… why I have no idea she seems very plain to me

Wow that’s catty, she’s not a model!

wizzbitt · 11/11/2025 06:38

There was a time when my mum used to look after my DD a couplw of days a week when she was about 1.5years and she knew the bingo advert jingles and used to sing them! 😂 My mum is a big channel 5 watcher! 😂

pIum · 11/11/2025 06:53

My husband has a real hatred of this advert too! Not quite sure I get the comments about 'old enough to have a child' and influencing teens though. She's 26 and her influencer content is aimed at adults.

Bluecrystal2 · 11/11/2025 06:55

She was worth over six million before this ad. I don't blame them for milking their vacuous lives for all it's worth but my goodness they're dense.

SparrowFeet · 11/11/2025 06:59

Haven't seen that one. The Fairy laundry adverts I also can't stand. Why does everyone seem to sniff up laundry?!
