Yes, I'm bored.
Waiting in the car for DCs to come out of school so decided to clear out my bag and found my coin purse.
I have exactly £12.75 in cash to my name.

I have about 5 euros in coins in my money cup, 2 or 3 euros in my purse, and a tenner in the glovebox in the car. I have another 30 euros but it is currently in DD's possession because she wanted her pocket money but I only had a 50 euro note so I gave it to her and she'll give me 30 back once she gets change.

gingercat02 · 04/11/2025 16:28

About £27

GreenDogDot · 04/11/2025 16:28

About £40 in my purse and then a selection of £1 coins that are on a constant voyage from the little pot in the car, through a trolley, into my back pocket as I walk back across the car park, out of my pocket and on to my dressing table when I realise it’s still there when I get undressed then back out to the car the next day and repeat.

£36.66
25,500 Hungarian Florints (about £58 should probably cash that in)
1.57 Euro
63 Croatian Kuna (about £6)

I love how everyone has random foreign currency 😂

GreenSmithing · 04/11/2025 16:30

£45 and some euros. I like to have a couple of notes for when I inevitability forget a birthday and need to shove some money in a card.

Chemenger · 04/11/2025 16:31

I found a fiver in my jacket pocket, no idea why it was there. Also two pound coins that I will use in the car wash at some point. There is probably less than a pound in change in my purse. None of that is any use to me because I’m currently in the US. I don’t have any dollars. We haven’t needed any cash here so far.

MyAcornWood · 04/11/2025 16:32

£8.32 in my purse, £20 in the car, about £3100 in the house. A couple of euros and about 40NZD

Kleptronic · 04/11/2025 16:33

£290.45 notes and coins
A trolly 'pound'
A piggy bank with 1s, 2s and 5 pence pieces for the arcade
A big box of assorted coins from everywhere (pre-Euro and euros and dollar bits and shrapnel), I do not know why I keep them.

Yeoldlondoncheese · 04/11/2025 16:33

The most I have had in years, I’m so used to using my card! Until yesterday I had £167.85. I sold something two weeks ago and the buyer gave me 3 50 pound notes. It felt illegal somehow having £50 notes so I wasn't spending it or just forgot it was in my bag. I managed to break one of the 50’s yesterday after ordering a Chinese, the takeaway was cash only, so now have 147.85.

MiddleAgedDread · 04/11/2025 16:33

@Starlight1984 I could have sworn there was a handful of US $ in there too but must have used them up. The daft thing is that I haven't taken hard cash abroad for years most of that dates back to 2017 / 18!!

YouveGotNoBloodyIdea · 04/11/2025 16:34

£1 in the car for trolleys, £20 emergency petrol money in the glove compartment, a pot of random coins in the bathroom that has been there so long that I suspect has coins that are no longer legal tender …..

purpleygrey · 04/11/2025 16:35

I rekon I could pull together £3.30 from the back of the sofa.

Calliopespa · 04/11/2025 16:36

This is an extremely heartening thread.

I hardly use cash but always feel like a total fool when I have to confess I have none. It seems many of us don't these days.

cupfinalchaos · 04/11/2025 16:37

None.. I have all my cards stored on my phone so don’t need cash.. only to pay cleaner.

daffodilandtulip · 04/11/2025 16:38

Actual cash? A tenner for the window cleaner and five thousand Ugandan Shillings (about a quid).

Accessible in the bank, approx £200 until the damn council remember to pay me.

Parker231 · 04/11/2025 16:39

About $40 in my purse and a couple of hundred at home. Rarely use cash.

barskits · 04/11/2025 16:39

£127.22

And now my loose change has marmalade on it because DH spilt some on the kitchen worktop and I tipped out my coins on there before realising.😂

DickDewey · 04/11/2025 16:40

Actual cash? None. Not a bean in the entire house. I know this because a delightful old chap knocked at the weekend, selling poppies. We could not scrape together any cash at all.

How do all these people have cleaners who charge a tenner? Mine would only have time to take her coat off and use the loo for that ...

FastTurtle · 04/11/2025 16:40

5 pound coins I use for tips.

JanuaryBug · 04/11/2025 16:40

I've 70 euro in notes. 20 in my purse because my daughter wanted me to swap it on to her revolut junior card and 50 in my back pocket that my dad gave me to get us all a take away tonight.

Coins wise probably about 50 euro, I have a tin that I throw loose change into when I remember. Sometimes I dip into it to give the kids a couple of euro for the shop/ice cream man.

FridgeJenga · 04/11/2025 16:41

@Sprogonthetyne the DCs are always invariably much more cash rich than us.
Between them, I reckon they've easily got over £500 in their piggy banks. Visiting relatives are always handing them paper money 😳 *
I really should get it all into their bank accounts.

* Just like Johannes in Amandaland 😂

If i raided kids piggy banks, and a few coin jars we have dotted about then I could probably get the best part of £50. Mostly in coins of under 20p probably, so I'm not sure the shops would thank me for spending it with them!

I've had this sort of experience multiple times. Whoever is looking on always makes me feel like the most eccentric old duffer they have ever encountered - but just look at this thread! Its teeming with us!
