Yes, I'm bored.
Waiting in the car for DCs to come out of school so decided to clear out my bag and found my coin purse.
I have exactly £12.75 in cash to my name.

All you get on this type of thread @FridgeJenga are posters saying they have thruppence ha'penny in their wallet, or they have £750,000.

SliceofTosst · 04/11/2025 17:37

£9.20 in my hand bag and £600 in a box we use for random days out.

I'm quite surprised at the handbag cash because I only use cards.

phantomofthepopera · 04/11/2025 17:38

I’ve got £35 in my bag, which DM gave me for something I’d bought her and she doesn’t do internet banking. I forget it’s there because I never use cash. I also keep £1 in the centre console of the car for trollies.

DingDongJingle · 04/11/2025 17:41

My trolley £1

SpottyAardvark · 04/11/2025 17:42

My wallet currently contains £25 & €40, in addition to which I have probably another £/€5 in change. I could access around 6 months salary in cash today if I needed it.

thehugsy · 04/11/2025 17:43

£30 in my work purse, that’s to do me for the month if I need to buy lunches etc

mickandrorty · 04/11/2025 17:48

£235 in notes and coin jars with idk how much in around £50 at a guess

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 04/11/2025 17:50

I know I have a tenner and a fiver in my bag plus some shrapnel I CBA to count. There’s about £100 in DS’s room as he will not pay cash into his account he gets given.

Are we counting other currencies? Got about €40 in my holiday purse. There’s definitely a few Canadian $ in a drawer but not sure how much.

I found some old Luxembourg francs from pre-Euro days a few weeks ago when I was doing a big sort out of old boxes, but not sure that counts as money anymore.

FrodoBiggins · 04/11/2025 15:44

I thought i had a folded up twenty pound note in the back of my phone case and another folded up tenner in the side pocket of my most used bag (smugly about to tell you all that it is so important to have a bit of cash for emergencies) and on further inspection I seem to have neither. Probably spent it all on chips while pissed.

Well, you used it for an emergency!!

im at home so about £700. I took out £500 when theres was worry about the cash machines not working, & if I use it (rare) I top it back up & about £200 in my bag (cba counting it, sorry) that just kind of sits there as I always use a card now, but I like having cash on me 'just in case'.

even if I'm just going out with keys & phone I'll rarely (if ever) not shove a £20 in my pocket or phone case.

just don't 100% trust the technology!

TappyGilmore · 04/11/2025 17:51

None. I just don’t do cash. I don’t know when I last had cash. Maybe in about July when I bought some show tickets for a group, and one person paid me for theirs in cash. But I put it straight in the bank.

Chazbots · 04/11/2025 17:55

I randomly found 2 euro scattered on a pavement yesterday. No idea why as we live in the UK.

AutumnCosy2025 · 04/11/2025 17:55

StrawberryJangle · 04/11/2025 15:48

52p and nothing in the bank until next Monday.

I'm feeling marvellous.

🤗

I wish there was a less smiley hug!

have you got food in?? Electricity??Are you ok??

ReignOfError · 04/11/2025 17:57

£5 in £1 coins in the car, and much the same in my purse. I rarely use cash. My husband will have at least £80 in his wallet. He tops up to £100 every Monday.

AutumnCosy2025 · 04/11/2025 17:58

QueefofSheena · 04/11/2025 15:54

About £100 between notes and pound coins. I have around 300 euros that survived the last trip so I’m saving them for the next one

Yeah I have some Euro & other foreign currency too, cba to go and count that either🥺lazy I know... sorry

MostArdently · 04/11/2025 18:03

I have about £7 in my purse, £25 for a birthday present, £20 for DS football and £30 my haircut! That’s a lot more than I usually have as I’ve withdrawn the cash on payday so I don’t spend it on something else!

Melonmango70 · 04/11/2025 18:24

£1 in my pocket from my locker at work. Maybe £1.70 in the kitchen, if my husband doesn't spot it/remember it's there (it's his!)

Wafflefinder · 04/11/2025 18:44

£1.35 in my purse. €9 and $30 leftover from holidays.

HelloCharming · 04/11/2025 18:55

About $300 (left over from holidays and keeping as we are going back soon) €30 and some change. I used my just in case £20 I keep in my phone case last week, for the office birthday fund, and haven’t replaced it yet. DH usually has £50 or so in his wallet he never takes out the house and there’s some shrapnel in the drawer.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 04/11/2025 19:01

£7 and a mexican coin that looks like a £2. I have not been to Mexico since 1980.

claracluck1978 · 04/11/2025 19:21

I keep about £500 in the safe as an emergency in case my purse gets pinched. Then my purse has about £35 in it, DCs wallets have about £15 each. I also have a £2 jar with over £400 in it and a large whisky bottle of change that must be in the midhundreds. I cannot wait for that to fill so I can count it like the King in his counting house!

HappyHunting101 · 04/11/2025 19:58

£120 in my purse, £150 in my bedside table and about £2.50 in my car for random parking.

Stopthiscrapnow · 04/11/2025 20:11

In my actual purse? About £3 in shrapnel. Although some of it is probably foreign so..about a quid?

Runnersandtoms · 04/11/2025 20:29

I'm actually amazed at people who have thousands in cash in their house. That would feel so wierd to me. Even £100 in my purse would feel strange and I'd want to get it paid in. I had £80 in a money bag to take to the post office (no banks round here), inside my work bag today and I had a flash of panic thst someone would steal it when I put my bag down. I know someone can steal your cards/phone but you can cancel cards and report a phone stolen, and banks will reimburse you for money spent whilst stolen. But if someone steals cash that's it, gone.

That's why it makes me nervous seeing elderly people take out £300 in cash at the post office so everyone in the queue hears them and knows they're walking around with a pile of cash.

pinkspeakers · 04/11/2025 20:32

overstimulatedhermit · 04/11/2025 16:26

Around £4000 in my house and £8000 at my mums who lives round the corner from me. I pay cash for everything and only use my bank for direct debits.

Oh my goodness, why???

Ezzee · 04/11/2025 20:38

In my purse I have £5.02, 17 us dollors, 50 krone and 100 BHT.
In the house a lot, keep cash just in case the banks go down but I also have 5 different bank accounts with money in just in case! Like to cover all bases.
