@pukbolt hope you take it steady! Pacing is so important. Our house never stays tidy, can't even blame the children as they have flown the nest.

@FuzzyPuffling you are very good line drying, it must smell lovely though.

I have bitten the bullet and started the Christmas cards, at least I will get the air mail ones sent this week, then have a break before I write the UK ones. It's the ones that need a note that take the time!

FuzzyPuffling · 30/11/2025 16:23

TeaAndStrumpets I am the Queen of Line Drying. ( Which would make a good username!) I have never used my tumble dryer...not once since it was given to us 6 years ago. Probably ought to get rid of it!

Although yesterday my line broke! 😲
It's one of those with a pulley on a very high pole, so it saw me up a ladder, rethreading a new line. Did it though! Hence need for rest today.

FurForksSake · 30/11/2025 16:45

I’ve booked a wheelchair for our trip to the light trail. DH will have to push me and it’s a bit steep, but I weight 8st and he’s fit and strong so hopefully he will manage. I’m going to take a blanket or my lap as I imagine I’ll get a bit chilly!!

Swanhilde · 30/11/2025 17:24

I am v jealous of your light trail @FurForksSake I have only succumbed to a wheelchair at airports so far, although there is a speedy looking one at our local NT house that you can borrow and I have been v tempted. Will get me further than the tea shop! Enjoy the lights 🎄

So my whizzing through my to do list came to rather a blistering stop after my last post and I had a long nap instead 🤣 Awake now and showered so need to dig out my advent calendar. No idea if the house lights are up or not!

Still I can smell DH's homemade loaf baking so I won't be cross if they're not. Soup followed by Strictly is the plan 💃

Have a restful evening everyone 💕

TeaAndStrumpets · 30/11/2025 18:02

Well done @FuzzyPuffling by any chance do you do gutters? You could have a new career with those skills!

Since taking over laundry duties DH has taken to putting everything in the tumble dryer, and wonders why all his socks have shrunk.

@FurForksSake such a good idea to get a wheelchair, hope you have a nice time.

@Swanhilde sounds like the nap was necessary!

FurForksSake · 30/11/2025 18:06

It was one of the kids that suggested it, it’s about 3km and that’s after the walk from the carpark and the walking around the trail in the palace. I feel a bit self conscious but I’ll cope!

Stressybetty · 30/11/2025 18:12

Evening all, not bothering with a tree this year, didn't last year either. We have a lot of different hue lights set up in the lounge and DH is installing some more on the first floor Juliet balcony's out the front.
They have started launching Christmas light themes now so that'll be fine. With all our dogs and clutter there doesn't seem room for decorations as well. We've agreed to start a proper deep clean and de clutter in December, properly sort out, move stuff into garage or throw out.
We moved here in April and will likely need to move again unless the landlord changes his plans. 3 storey house which has been so much effort to move things upstairs.
We have just so much stuff it's ridiculous and not used the majority of it since we moved. Hopefully final pup will be fallen in love with this week and we can tidy up the playpens and puppy things too.

TeaAndStrumpets · 30/11/2025 21:09

@Stressybetty there's something about December that makes me want everywhere to be neat and tidy. Perhaps because it feels restful.

We have too much stuff but DH is bad at throwing things away.....if something breaks and I replace it he often saves the broken thing for spare parts or useful bits of material. He's got a shed full of bits and pieces.

It will be a pain if you have to move house so soon, but maybe your next place will have fewer stairs! Fingers crossed for you either way.

Realisation14 · 30/11/2025 21:20

Evening all, such a mixture of days today for you all! Absolutely loving the potato wreath 🎄

I went to an outdoor market this morning which also had a car boot at it. I really enjoyed myself with my DH, ds and teenage niece but my goodness it took everything from me. Got home around 12.30, had lunch and fell asleep. Got up at 3.30 but still so tired I have done nothing else the rest of the day except watch TV and read so DH did dinner and the dishes.

FurForksSake · 01/12/2025 08:22

I have again subluxed my shoulder while sleeping. I am annoyed and in pain. I didn’t even do anything! Bloody unfair.

TodayIsatrickyone · 01/12/2025 09:28

Sorry to hear that @FurForksSake absolutely what you don’t need.

Morning all, hope everyone’s Monday mornings are not too stressful. I’m on a slow start today, been up with the dog, tidied the kitchen and then came back to bed once DH & DD left on the school run. I’ve very little inclination to move til my online shop arrives later when I’ll have to.
Had a better weekend but feeling tired this morning. DD helped put our tree up yesterday so we’re looking nice and Christmassy this morning. Cheers up a miserable rainy day!

TeaAndStrumpets · 01/12/2025 09:51

Morning all!

@Realisation14 i hope the market put you in a Christmassy mood!

@FurForksSake oh that sounds miserable, that is unfair! Hope the pain eases off soon.

@TodayIsatrickyone how nice to have a tree up and looking Christmassy!

I have had to rest so much the last few weeks my body is protesting. Too much sitting. I've been getting a few niggly sciatica type pains shooting down my leg so am trying to relax my piriformis muscles. Easier said than done!

I did pilates for about 10 years so know all the exercises, but everything is so tight today I couldn't manage the simplest ones. I stopped going to classes because the journey tired me out but I should maybe find something online. I have some spiky massage balls somewhere so may find those.

Other than that, I have had two good nights sleep in a row so that is good. My IBS is dreadful though so I reckon the stress is just working its way round my body!

TeaAndStrumpets · 01/12/2025 10:22

OK I've just ordered a new exercise mat and a soft ish massage ball. Watch this space!

FuzzyPuffling · 01/12/2025 10:42

Happy Advent to you all.
I might write some Christmas cards. Or I might not...

I'm going to do three today! Quite a lot to go.....

TeaAndStrumpets · 01/12/2025 12:22

Three pounds bloody forty to send a card!!! Air Mail. Luckily only three this year - Canada, Australia, France.

Used to send loads to Canada, Aunt and Uncle, Godmother, old family friend. All gone now so just a cousin.

I suppose I am a dinosaur sending cards.

FuzzyPuffling · 01/12/2025 12:43

Well I love Christmas cards. Mostly.

Last year's travesty was a huge photograph of the Mayor and Mayoress of Tinytown, aka an old school friend and her husband. Nothing to do with the festive season, just self promotion. Never mind "no room at the inn", more "no room.on the mantlepiece".

But I'm a grinch and also dislike photos of other people's children!

TeaAndStrumpets · 01/12/2025 13:04

@FuzzyPuffling maybe it's time to fight fire with fire...send them a massive signed photo of yourself!

I quite enjoy round robins from others, but being technologically illiterate I can't mass produce anything to save my life, so people just get a catching up sentence or two from me if needed.

FuzzyPuffling · 01/12/2025 13:18

We only get one round Robin ( from the aforementioned people) and it is full of exotic holidays, skiing black runs and "amusing" anecdotes from their narrowboat.
Apart from the year when their daughter was accused of a very serious crime!!

I'm quite pleased my life is quiet and boring!

Enough of them!

That sounds wonderful! I would love it if any of my friends had a serious crime to tell me about. (Tho naturally would sympathise with their trauma etc etc)

Orangesandlemons77 · 01/12/2025 13:37

Raining here. Done a few housework jobs (laundry, loading the dishwasher) now back in bed with a coffee

I get some of this sciatica type pains as well, also think it is too much sitting and planning on doing some pilates type exercises. Maybe I will find something online.

There is a really good class at the gym but not making it much.

Ahh yes Its such a balance isn’t it between resting and moving just enough so the pain/ stiffness doesn’t increase. I get lower back pain which I had way before ME struck, started in my first pregnancy. Mostly it’s okay but will strike up again with a spell enforced rest! I try and do stretches when I remember but not often enough!
I used to love swimming and thats great for my back but it’s just too much to get there, get changed and get back again. I need my own heated pool really 😊 that would be wonderful!

Be interested in how you get on with the massage ball, that sounds like a great idea.

TodayIsatrickyone · 01/12/2025 13:42

Raining non stop here too @Orangesandlemons77 I’m actually happy to be cosy under my heated throw today. Our little rescue dog refuses point blank to go out in the rain… I can’t say i blame her today!

TeaAndStrumpets · 01/12/2025 13:58

@Orangesandlemons77 I will let you know if I find something good online. It makes me feel so old! I mean, I AM old but don't like being creaky.

@TodayIsatrickyone I went down all the Amazon reviews and the medium soft wasn't as vicious. It's like a tennis ball but washable. I've got some spiky balls but the skin on my back is very thin so I need something gentle.

Orangesandlemons77 · 01/12/2025 16:35

I have one of those roller things for the back (like a cylinder) which is nice to lie on but more for the upper back I think

Had an irritating call with MIL where she told me 'you can't hibernate forever' I reminded myself it's just that she wants me to come out and keep her company and this is her way of going about it.

Reminded myself I don't need to call her because I feel sorry for her, she has others to hang out with. (she seems to need to get out every day but we aren't all the same, it all sounds exhausting)

She doesn't seem to understand I have limited energy, and I also find it a bit annoying an 82 yr old has more energy than me!
