Well done on the walking!

and hugs, gentle, where needed.

TeaAndStrumpets · 28/11/2025 14:33

@FurForksSake The trouble is he's outgrown everything! They do live very frugally so yes in regard to household goods he'll have to lump it.
Oh sympathies about the lying there expecting death at any moment! I get costochondritis so quite often get sudden twinges in my ribs, then after lying there quietly panicking I finally recall doing a twisting or lifting that must have set it off. It's not nice at all. Sometimes I get myself in such a state I have to get up for a while.

Swanhilde · 28/11/2025 16:58

Allotment was gorgeous this morning, ☀️ was shining and it had some warmth in it. Then I went for my massage and was pleased that she said that my muscles were more relaxed than last week 🤞 The effects last longer this time too. We also tweaked my exercises that the physio gave me, so hopefully that will help too.

As I was leaving, the heavens opened and I got absolutely soaked walking the short distance back to my car! So it was a soggy drive home 😟

When I got back, I had a big bowl of blueberry porridge and a cup of tea for lunch and have been in bed ever since. Might have had a cheeky nap as well 😴

DH is cooking this evening and I will have an early night as I'm at work in the morning. But this is the last of my commitments this weekend and Sunday will be a complete day of rest ☺️

Hope everyone has had a good Friday 💕

TeaAndStrumpets · 28/11/2025 17:13

The massage sounds lovely @Swanhilde . It certainly chucked it down today.

VikingNorthUtsire · 28/11/2025 17:26

TeaAndStrumpets · 28/11/2025 10:33

Thanks @VikingNorthUtsire appreciate the kind thought! On a good day I would be undaunted.

All I am trying to find is some 100% cotton joggers/sweatpants for a skinny tall 16 year old. Fat Face had some, now sold out. Next would be a great fit but have polyester in them. Autistic DGS has gone on an anti-plastic crusade! Very inconvenient. His crocs have gone in the bin and he wants his Mum to buy a new kettle and chopping board. His Mum says buy the Next joggers and snip out the label! (She is fed up living with an eco warrior)

So truthfully I don't HAVE to buy all cotton but I felt I should give it a go.

Tall skinny boys are so hard to find decent trousers for. I had one myself (fortunately he now does his own shopping)

Some 100% cotton options although the leg doesn't look that long but thought I would share just in case. Maybe if you can't find the holy grail joggers, he might like something else from one of these super eco brands?

(also i suspect that joggers with 100% natural fibres are going to hang badly and go baggy, but I don't know)

I've just finished work and am rattling through some Black Friday christmas shopping - bits and bobs I have had on my list.

I am walking on the edge of majorly overdoing it. Trying to rest completely in between commitments and hoping for the best. My last big thing work/social wise is 12th December then hoping for a really slow and chilled couple of weeks as we slide towards Christmas.

TeaAndStrumpets · 28/11/2025 17:58

@VikingNorthUtsire thank you! There are a couple of good ideas there. It was so kind of you to have a look!

I know that feeling of being about to overdo it...I find a bit of extra oomph from somewhere to push through, then I think I am fine to do one more thing, then another. I hope you are careful!

Once I get the joggers that's everyone's presents done. One birthday before Christmas and that is ready too.

Little granddaughter (10 months) has had a few settling in sessions at nursery, then it will be three days a week. The first day she refused to eat, drink or nap but was possibly too distracted. Her Mum is assuming that all will be fine, I'm the one feeling sad! Silly Grandma.

Orangesandlemons77 · 28/11/2025 22:08

I need to get some joggers for my 17 yr old son, actually, he is tall and probably going for the mens M&S ones. I think they might be cotton but not sure.

Been to the CFS / ME course this morning, slept in and nearly missed it then had to get a taxi. Then slept this afternoon after it. I guess some of it is useful but finding it a bit tiring. which is a bit ironic I suppose.

It's quite nice to meet others with the same thing though. Like on here really. hoping for a good weekend for everyone Flowers

chunkyBoo · 28/11/2025 22:13

Saw my rheumatologist today … good news she thinks my psoriatic arthritis / disease is helped a little by my current biologic, but I’m still in pain .. described it as layers of pain … she said completely normal when you have fibromyalgia underlying, and she’s diagnosed with this but also thinks I have chronic fatigue syndrome … it’s actually good as it at least answers questions!!

MewithME · 29/11/2025 07:29

Morning all. I have to work today. I have to do the occasional Saturday or Sunday. I have to give a talk to visitors so it'll be exhausting.

I'm already not great. My body is vibrating. I can't take a day to recover either so I only have Sunday and back in on Monday.

I am getting through it by trying not to worry about it!

Morning @MewithME that absolutely sucks that you have to work today, I hope it's not long winded and you still get a portion of the day to yourself to rest?

Realisation14 · 29/11/2025 08:14

I have zero outside the house plans today which I usually do try to keep Saturdays like that on purpose. So I do not intend to get dressed today at all. Yesterday was tough in certain places so I'm going to have some me-time today for sure.

TeaAndStrumpets · 29/11/2025 08:24

@Orangesandlemons77 it sounds as if your course is quite tiring! Good to meet others in the same boat, so maybe worth it for that alone.

Yes I thinking I am trying too hard looking for the 'right' joggers, it'll have to be something straightforward!

MewithME · 29/11/2025 08:26

Thanks @Realisation14 . Hoping to be home by 3.30. I'll still have DS to look after but we're thinking jacket spuds for tea. Low maintenance at least and I can rest while they cook.

It's the one thing (well not just one) that HR wouldn't consider in my reasonable adjustments..the weekend requirement. I'm slightly dreading it today. Talking to a room full of people and answering questions. I don't feel on my A game at all so hope I'm coherent!

Basically, I can't get others in my team to cover so if I felt that bad I would have to cancel the event and people would be seriously pissed off and it could damage our reputation.

Even worse is that I have no control over it. So we have a drop in all day so if someone comes I have to be "on". I get no official break.

However, I am going to just have to somehow. Last time I felt as crap as this, I ended up sat shaking after and didn't feel safe to drive.

@chunkyBoo I hope your medication works well for you, it sounds as if your rheumatologist is on the ball.

TeaAndStrumpets · 29/11/2025 08:31

@MewithME that sounds like a pain. I hope you get through the day OK. Xx

TeaAndStrumpets · 29/11/2025 08:46

I got to the end of yesterday in a heap. The adrenaline caught up with me and I felt peculiar. Even lying down I felt dizzy and faint. Apart from trying to organise Christmas yesterday I had a long chat on the phone with a friend and I think it was a bit too much.

I am feeling stressed because we haven't had more feedback from our proposed buyer yet. We do know they are keen. They want to send a builder/architect round but we haven't heard anything . It's not a private buyer so there will be layers of delay and bureaucracy involved, but on the other side of the coin they possibly won't mess us about. I am trying to not think about it, hard for me!

TeaAndStrumpets · 29/11/2025 12:28

OK I've got so many Christmas presents hidden around the house it's time to get them sorted and wrapped. DH will do it under supervision although it can be painful watching! Everything will be perfectly aligned, unlike when I do it.

I am hoping if Christmas is sorted I can just rest in the run-up. I have learned never to leave things to the last minute, as panic buying leads to crashing.

We watched a new show last night on Apple TV, Pluribus. The plot has everyone on the planet (bar 11 people) infected with something that makes them very helpful. The heroine is not that way inclined....

I've run out of soothing TV, but have found a lot of Bettany Hughes' programmes on channel 4. She is such a good presenter, we just watched one set in Bulgaria, so she found ancient customs, little churches in the mountains full of amazing art, tremendous archaeological digs. What I like about her is she drinks and dances with the locals, obviously a very cheery character. Sort of the polar opposite of Alice Roberts!

FurForksSake · 29/11/2025 13:41

Ooh I keep forgetting about BH, I must watch some of those.

SIl came to pick up ds2 and stayed to chat and then came back to drop off some bits and stayed again. I was stood up as they came in to our large hallway and I assumed it would be a two minute conversation. I had to say in the end that I couldn’t stand any longer. Ds2 got me to the sofa, fetched me a drink and the old school cake he bought me and settled me. He even bought me a fork.

and then £250 of food shopping came. I’ve got want I can away and now contemplating a weep. Dh wil do the rest when he comes home. It’s mostly Christmas drinks, baking supplies and snacks. We host nye so I’ve got most of the dry bits for that and all the soft drinks. My Christmas Eve eve shop is getting smaller and smaller! I’ve moved a lot of stuff forward as the offers aren’t available Christmas week.

I’ve done far too much. I’m really sore. I didn’t sleep well in the night as I couldn’t get comfy and my mental health was spiralling into very low mood and anxiety.

I was going to do some card painting but i dare not move now.

Swanhilde · 29/11/2025 14:53

I am home from work and back in bed with a cuppa. It wasn't too bad and I have earned some lovely toil - hope your day hasn't been too busy @MewithME ?

Going to watch the football now and take it easy with my knitting. Legs are quite sore and feel like they've been worked on so 🤞 for no PEM.

DH and I are cooking fajitas together this evening and then it's Strictly and Christmas planning 💃🎄 We need to coordinate the random things we've bought for the kids 🤣

MewithME · 29/11/2025 15:52

Hello. Thanks @Swanhilde .. it was busy and not busy. They over estimated numbers but then people came early so swings and roundabouts. I was coherent and pulled it off and had thanks for visitors so all was well.

Back in bed with a naughty beer and some crisps now. What a slob 😂

What are you up to today if you have chronic illness? Thread 3
TodayIsatrickyone · 29/11/2025 16:19

Beer and crisps well earned @MewithME

@FurForksSake its so hard when you’re standing if someone pops in, I have a neighbour who is a chatter box and lost count of the times I’ve had to go and lie down after he’s spotted me in the garden. Stay resting and hope things settle soon.

Im the same re Xmas @TeaAndStrumpets I know I have to be organised early. I’ve had DH help me wrap some bits this week even tbough he keeps grumbling it’s still only Nov! DD has a big birthday to celebrate the week before Xmas so more things to think about/ wrap. I just want to know I’m organised then I can try to rest/ relax before that week. I always feel like I need extra time in case of a sudden crash or virus in the house!

We had an indian takeaway last night, DH was telling me they have a xmas menu and are open xmas day! I cant imagine not having a traditionzl xmas dinner but im a bit tempted! Imagine not having all that shopping, cooking, , clearing up etc…
