@Swanhilde woohoo!!

I have quarantined myself in my bedroom (dh has been in the spare room for months due to my pain and crap sleep). Dh went and bought me the first defense spray and I’ve used that and taken vitamin d, c and zinc. I had a shower with my dettol soap and then a super hot bath with Epsom salts and some bubbles.

I am hopeful I can get through the next 36 hours without succumbing

MewithME · 12/11/2025 17:37

Aw well done @Swanhilde

Tomorrow will feel like it SHOULD be the end of my working week but it isn't. I will be finally WFH Friday though. I've been in every day this week and it's not great. I get into that buzzy adrenaline thing to get me through. I know part of me likes it but it's dangerous.

In again tomorrow 🙈

I have at least got home at bit early and I'm on the sofa with a naughty takeaway on its way because I don't have to cook for DS tonight. He'll have had tea at his Dad's.

Well done @Swanhilde great news!

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/11/2025 20:20

Looking at Warhammer hoodies for a 12 year old, totally baffled! There's a nasty polyester one for a tenner, but the cosy cotton ones cost a fortune! May have to rethink that idea...
I thought looking for Christmas things would be gentle and relaxing!! More fool me.

FurForksSake · 12/11/2025 20:22

Oh I get you. We do want/need/wear/read and the need we have narrowed down to a hot chocolate maker for one and a super bright torch for the other. But I’ve had to give up as I’ve read so many reviews and got annoyed and confused.

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/11/2025 20:40

@FurForksSake yes it's too much to think of! He turns 12 before Christmas so that is sorted with a watch and a book token. It was my stupid idea to get a warhammer related present, so he isn't expecting it...maybe a plain hoodie and joggers and a Warhammer t shirt. Yes torches are always handy! Those beany hats with a torch on are good.

Teens can be tricky. Last year I bought DGS2 (then 15) a comic book about the history of ramen, with recipes, plus a box of spices etc and packs of ramen so he could make his own. At the time he was obsessed so it gave him some ideas.

FurForksSake · 12/11/2025 20:55

The ramen book sounds great! Can you te me the name?

my ds12 also likes war hammer and it can be so expensive!

FuzzyPuffling · 12/11/2025 20:56

No idea what to get DH. As in actually no idea.

FurForksSake · 12/11/2025 21:01

I’m buying my dh a circular saw and a pillar drill apparently 😆😱

Stressybetty · 12/11/2025 21:02

All the Christmas talk 😩. We only have each other, MIL, BIL, DN and DN to get for. Few cards elsewhere and that's it! Just don't have the mental energy for Christmas anymore. Big mistake getting DH to take in the Sainsbury's delivery as he's bending the poor delivery bloke's ear. He did order 95 cans of heinz soup on a nectar deal (5 for £5) though so kind of his problem to unload/load and find somewhere to store!

It's called "Let's Make Ramen!" (Amazon.)

Gosh the cost of the warhammer stuff. Last year I bought loads of scenery and suchlike.

Mine wants a horribly expensive book about Alfa Romeos, so that's his lot!

He will love you forever for these thoughtful gifts!

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/11/2025 21:14

@Stressybetty be careful, we recently found some soup left over from Covid!

Stressybetty · 12/11/2025 22:11

@TeaAndStrumpets 😮 blimey will check them

TeaAndStrumpets · 13/11/2025 09:23

Apparently overdone it and back on the sofa today. All I did was stand for 10 minutes trimming hair and walk round the house a bit yesterday. Adrenaline going crazy, heartrate gone up, oxygen gone down. Expletives deleted.

FurForksSake · 13/11/2025 09:35

😢 sorry to hear you are struggling. I hope some rest gets things back in check.

I am hiding in my bedroom for the rest of the day. Less than 24 hours to go of avoiding the cold ridden children.

I’ve gathered most of my things for hospital, just need a charger / charging bank / iPad / book / good housekeeping and snacks. I’ll also be taking my own drinks in for after, they’ll make me drink water and I find that very, very hard. I don’t mind Evian so I’ve bought four sports cap bottles to take in with me. If I can get home same day, I intend to!

Swanhilde · 13/11/2025 09:39

Restful day here and the sun is out for the first time in ages ☀️

Waiting for the GP to call but it won't stop DH and I nipping out for celebratory coffee and cake ☕🍰

Good luck avoiding the germs @FurForksSake

TeaAndStrumpets · 13/11/2025 10:00

@FurForksSake good luck with your op! You will be back home in no time xx

danglethedingle · 13/11/2025 12:48

Have had a couple of tired and painful days, so obviously when i wake up this morning feeling OKish, I immediately make the bed, wash my hair, put a load of laundry on and hoover all through. This is what they mean by pacing yourself isn't it? 😂but I have to do what I can when I can do it, for me its part of the not bloody giving in, I know I will probably pay tomorrow.

TodayIsatrickyone · 13/11/2025 13:54

Lots of luck with the op tomorrow and hope all goes smoothly @FurForksSake

@TeaAndStrumpets So frustrating that you’re dipping today 😕 I think swearing ( loudly) could just be in order. A few choice words been uttered here today too!

Pacing is so hard @danglethedingle! I find it so hard to pace if I feel a bit better and the temptation to catch up on stuff is always there.

TeaAndStrumpets · 13/11/2025 14:32

@danglethedingle take it easy! Easier said than done, I know....

@TodayIsatrickyone I think dipping is a more hopeful expression than crashing! I am so annoyed with myself for not being diligent enough about pacing, it is so hard when I start to feel a bit more chipper. Strict resting now, granddaughter here on Saturday for a flying visit. We had some other visitors coming but have postponed.

Finally having our delayed house viewing on Wednesday. The agent has been keen to set it up, I think he can smell a sale! I should be able to crawl out to the car for a trip out. Thank goodness we don't do our own viewings.

I tried the chants on youtube, not so effective at relaxing me today, think it's me not them.

Swanhilde · 13/11/2025 14:38

Have been pummeled, prodded and poked by the GP and he's happy it's not nerve related just muscular, down to my being deconditioned. We agreed physio was not an option as it causes me PEM. So I'm to keep doing what I'm doing and use ibuprofen gel not tablets ...

Oh well, the ☕🍰 afterwards was lovely and I'm home now, resting in bed with my heat pad on.

TodayIsatrickyone · 13/11/2025 14:49

@TeaAndStrumpets Be kind to yourself as its so incredibly hard to pace when you start to feel a tad brighter, there’s no choice when totally crashed as you literally can’t do a thing but I find the tricky bit is always when you start to come round just a tad. I’m in a similar boat this week of thinking I’m a bit better, trying to do one small thing and then boom! I sometimes feel like I’m in a human game of snakes and ladders where I keep landing on a snake and sliding right back to the start again!!
Good you’ve got the house viewing booked and rest, rest, rest til Saturday so you can see that gorgeous granddaughter.

TodayIsatrickyone · 13/11/2025 14:52

I’ve just glanced at the calendar and realised we have a parents Eve tonight, online thankfully and only 5 min appointments but I can’t believe I nearly forgot! Alarm set now so I actually remember!
