@Violinist64sorry to hear that your journey with your son has been disrupted. Please get a receipt for your taxi journey. I travel with LNER regularly and they are excellent in dealing with compensation due to travel delays.

Yes, LNER have confirmed they will reimburse hotels and taxis.

I am sick of these atrocities, it’s becoming far too common. Seriously considering moving out of the UK. Those poor people, my thoughts are with them all

The police need to come out and say it was a white British man even if it wasn’t? Are you for real?

Maintaining culture cohesion is just too important. We’ve seen what happened with regards to other cases. Nobody likes being lied to I understand that, but do you want potential protests and riots? Do you want a Reform government?

I would prefer a Reform government to a government that condones the police force lying to promote “cultural cohesion”. And I haven’t, and wouldn’t, vote Reform.

I actually just want accurate information when it’s available. That is the most important thing.

I hope!

Most people want a government that makes our streets safe. It's very unsafe at the moment. And what's more pensioners froze last winter when this government took away their heat allowance.

cottonwoolie · 02/11/2025 00:00

@Julen7 well that is shocking

I am in a taxi on my way home with my disabled son. We should have been at Peterborough Station over two hours ago. We were on a train behind the one where the incident occurred. We were stuck in a place called Arlesey, which I believe is in Bedfordshire, for a long time until the decision was made for us to cross the platform and take the southbound train to Hitchin, whereupon we would have taxis and coaches to take us home. I have to say that the train driver, police and railway personnel were all very professional friendly and efficient. We were very inconvenienced and the thought of how much money this will have cost is horrendous but, of course this all pales into insignificance in comparison with the victims of the stabbings and those poor people who will be traumatised by witnessing such a dreadful thing, including the train driver and railway staff. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

You’re travelling in the opposite direction.

Ignore the bot everyone

Mistyglade · 02/11/2025 00:00

I used that train line twice last week with DS. I can’t imagine the terror of those poor passengers.

Lying makes these things more likely, we need more transparency not cover ups.

You genuinely think 'cultural cohesion' is more important than the police force and government telling the public the truth??

If you are for real, I utterly despair.

ThatOneStupidPheasant · 01/11/2025 23:28

It doesn't matter which race, skin colour or culture did this, crime is crime, and we are witnessing a huge drop down of care in general. The shit seems to be floating to the top generally, thanks to a combination of low policing and a lighter hand against aggressive men in broader culture.

I get that the rags always want a race story to agitate the plebs, but the real issue is country wide.

You are exposed to increasing insanity whether you drive or take transport.

I was threatened with a knife by a group of boys in the north west a few months ago. It wasn't serious (I didn't feel they were likely to harm me thank god) but it did illustrate the casual apathy, the almost mundane acceptance of violence prevalent now amongst males, as opposed to the UK I grew up in (I am 50).

The plebs?

They really are not, read the full thread, they want to blame any white man and his dog, and they expect the police to gaslight the victims and the public.

There will be too many witnesses on the train for a lie to be sustained and it would only make civil unrest more likely when the lie was exposed. We'll just have to deal with the truth whatever it may be.

Doobedobe · 02/11/2025 00:06

This comment about saying it was a white man if it wasnt is madness. We don't need more lies from the establishment. We just need the facts and for them to do something about the increase in violent attacks.
People will rise up if this keeps happening with no solutions coming forward.
It just seems so odd that there were two of them.
These things seem to be either gang related, in which case it usually is someone known to the gang that is attacked. Mental health, which is usually a lone person who has snapped, or it's because there was an altercation or argument, which is usually one person again. Or terror related.
None of these seem to fit.
The police need to be totally honest about what they know.

You're the living embodiment of that norm mcdonald joke. I really don't understand this mentality at all. It's like you've been brainwashed.

Pretty sure that it's the people murdering and terrorising people on trains and other public places who are terrible for social/cultural cohesion, and not the fact that people are aware of who is doing this. But yes, let's bring 1984 to life and have the government gaslight people and lie about what they can see with their own eyes, that will be great and definitely not result in any social unrest.

OonaStubbs · 02/11/2025 00:07

The police need to release what they know to stop all the speculation. Leaving people in the dark just helps the conspiracy theorists.

Netcurtainnelly · 02/11/2025 00:07

Starmer should resign.
Let's see if its the usual suspects.
Britain is broken.
