No, they're not - they've spent the last couple of days trolling threads about girls who were raped.

I doubt such a law would have stopped this. I am reading this as a planned attack against randoms on a train? As opposed to just a fight that kicked off.

Though that said I would support mandatory sentences for anybody caught with a knife on their actual person.

It's already illegal to carry a knife in public without good reason. Chefs and butchers will have good reason to carry their own knives if they work in more than one place.
You can carry a folding knife as long as the blade is no more than 3 inches long and doesn't lock.

Everyone on here who’s screaming cover up and why haven’t the police described the perps yet - that was normal practice until Southport at which point all the dreadful stuff posted online changed things a bit. Police have a job to do finding evidence at this point. Journalists will tell you that information routinely wasn’t released until later and not for any sinister reason.
And for everyone saying something has to happen - well, what? Armed police on all trains? No funds or enough police (thanks austerity). Deport all asylum seekers? Not that simple especially since we Brexited. There aren’t any simple solutions, no matter what people like to tell you.

Don't lie, murderers, rapists and other men convicted of violent crimes go to jail after sentencing they are not immediately deported.
If you've escaped a war-torn hell-hole and fought your way across Europe to get here then serving a prison term in the UK is infinitely preferable to being repatriated.
Some people like to think that only victims flee from the horror of war but quite often it's the perpetrators who end up in a better situation.

@Swiftasthewind Look. I'm brown (not Muslim). I absolutely worry about the increase in racist attacks and breakdown in cultural cohesion on the back of things like this. But we have to accept the facts about attacks of this nature. We cannot blame people for resorting to stereotypes and we cannot undermine or minimise people's concerns. We cannot sweep acts of terrorism under the carpet and accept that it's part and parcel of living on this Earth - No, it's not, and it absolutely cannot be accepted as the norm for the UK. This needs to stop.
