Why? Why are they not afraid of what is happening and will continue to get worse if something isn’t done?
Why aren’t they concerned about poor British people (of all races) carrying the burden of the negative implications of uncontrolled immigration?

Why aren’t they more concerned about the bad thing rather than the reaction to the bad thing?

I agree with you entirely. It's hobsons choice. Civil disorder vs unchecked immigration of violent men.

What an absolute shitshow it will be if, in the lead up to the budget, Starmer has to get rid of Reeves. It’s getting to look like a very unfunny black comedy. The Government are full of champagne socialists with their snouts in the trough.

It's ridiculous isn't it. Yes of course she wasn't purposefully trying to get out of paying the licence but if she's too stupid to check the details in domestic finances then what on earth is she missing with the nations finances.

It's a snapshot of her incompetence, much like Rayner.

Listening to LBC and they said there will be a British Transport Police press conference some time after 9am leading up to 10am. I hope they are open and honest with the British Public.

Well, if they are not - it will doubtless be leaked anyway.

Better that the (government) are up front.

Strange how people went straight to the geography of the attack when it was on a train moving from the north of England to the south- well London. I know the route well it has few stops. This one apparently started in Doncaster then it would stop at Wakefield then Peterborough, where it was thought the attackers boarded. The attack happened soon after leaving Peterborough and the train made emergency stop at nearby Huntington close to a hospital. It’s a very regular service sometimes starting from Edinburgh most often Leeds and in this case further down at Doncaster.

Football hooligans fight each other, if at all. These were in black. The train was short. Terrifying. It seemed planned maybe two but possibly one mentally ill person. Or a fanatic with a vengeance. Bad news massively sympathy for all those involved.
I heard a child, girl was about to be attacked and an oldish man put himself in the way and was stabbed in the head. Luckily it seems there are no deaths but at least one seriously injured. The psychological damage will be massive. Very bad news.

It is being treated as a terrorist incident and 9 of the 10 victims are described as ‘fighting for their lives’. There is no guarantee that they all make it.

We don’t need to listen to the EU. We’re actually defending our country. And France would do exactly the same was it the other way round. We’re doing nothing wrong. Just returning the people to where they came from. France have been getting an easy ride - people turning up there, and then just offloaded to us. Maybe they need to start to be pro-active their end….

44% of our trade is with the EU, plus huge amounts of travel.

Our FTA with them would go and there would possibly be a military clash.

btw i'm not saying Don't do this, i'm pointing out the cost to our economy, France threatened to close channel trade during Covid, it changed Govt policy at the time.

SpaceRaccoon · 02/11/2025 09:03

And if people really were interested, they’d seek to understand the experience of the parents, grandparents and 2nd and 3rd generation kids. To understand what happened to make some of them so disenfranchised and angry that they do these things.

But we do understand. They're radicalised by Islamists, and apparently being born to Muslim parents in a Western society makes them vulnerable to that. Same pattern in France.

I just can’t stomach the posters on here gleefully speculating that it was football supporters . And then trying the “nothing to see here, don’t speculate” line - even though they were speculating away that it was a couple of Newcastle fans (!) and then moving on to we must all keep quiet.

Never mind the victims, very sad and all that, but best brushed under the carpet.

Speculation is rife. The police need to make a statement sharpish.
We dont want another Southport situation

No doubt there is a slew of lawyers rushing to represent the perpetrators of this crime. For a start the evil policeman who tasered the poor alleged knifeman will be hauled over the coals.

Because there are millions of Muslims who live in peace and harmony in the UK.

We need to focus on the bad apples, not start demanding all Muslims are deported.

This. But it shouldn't need to be said, it should be bloody obvious.

But they'll be posters pretzeling themselves to tell you that your wrong.

@LeafyMcLeafFace but the same argument can be used for the rise of far right extremism, they are angry and disenfranchised.

Other countries in the EU are talking of leaving or the need for amendment. However, many are better able to prioritise their own sovereignty because, although they are members, they haven’t incorporated it into domestic law, such they international law takes precedent. They can ignore ECHR rulings because they are advisory. We can’t.

I am not saying that this makes terrorism acceptable and lets people off the hook by any stretch of the imagination, but anyone who genuinely wants to address this issue will make an effort to think critically, explore the intersectionality of people’s experiences to try and stop this happening again. Not have a rant on social media, throw some bricks at a hotel housing asylum seekers and put up some flags.

We don't owe violent, hate filled men, endless tea and sympathy FFS. I'd rather focus my empathy on the victims and what they need to recover their lives.

This. I was caught up (but fortunately not injured) in the 7/7 attacks. There is nothing different about tube travel today than there was then in terms of visible, physical security. (If anything there are less staff at stations). There is little that can be done to stop random terror attacks or those perpetrated by people with mental illness. So blaming the government or whoever else for these attacks isn’t the right thing. It’s part of a bigger world picture and societal issue that has been building for decades surely? Calling for changes to how public transport operates is also pointless. The cost would be exorbitant and it’s undoable as much as everyone would like that to be different.
My DH takes that train three days a week. He will pause for thought now but still use it as I and millions of Londoners did the tube after 7/7. We got back on the tube as anything else was letting the terrorists win.

Well said. I was caught up in 7/7 too, it strikes me that the biggest difference between then and now is the presence now of social media and the fear / tribalism / division that it has stoked.

7/7 provoked an outpouring of unity and pride in London and the UK, but judging by many of the comments on this thread this morning we have fallen a long, long way since then.

AInightingale · 02/11/2025 09:09

For God's sake. If this was football fans, or any white perpetrator, every state-approved mouthpiece would have been trumpeting the fact within hours.
The fact that there's been a ten-hour silence on the identity of the perpetrators makes such theories highly unlikely.
It feels very reminiscent of the immediate aftermath of Southport when the govt were desperate to delay announcing that the killer was on a terror watch list and of Rwandan origin.

Yes it’s awful. The rush of posters downplaying the reality for victims because it might be problematic. It happens every time. It happened with Rhiannon Whyte too. Priority given to the perpetrators and lowering direction at them.

They aren't entering illegally if they are refugees. The fact that you want British citizens to stand around and watch children drown means, frankly, that your opinion is worth less than nothing.

And your opinion is peddling the myth that the people coming here are families/children. They’re not. They’re 99% made up of males. You’re just predictably using ‘children drowning’ in an emotive way, when you know that this isn’t the reality.

Children do drown with this system. It’s not good to defend it.
