If that's the first thing you want, I have great news for you!

Noone is trying to silence you and your legitimate concerns. Woohoo. Here you are, not being silenced.

Hear yourself talking to people and not being arrested for it. Go on X, or other sm platforms, post, and don't get arrested. It's incredible.

You must be ecstatic.

(With the obvious exception that if your "legitimate concerns" are just a veiled attempt to stoke more racism and violence in the country, then yes, you would rightfully face consequences. But you don't mean that, of course, you mean legitimate concerns, so that's OK.)

I conclude many here are being paid to make the general public doubt their instincts.

Don't fall for it.

Trust your instincts.

British born to immigrant parents or grandparents.

grandparents so we are going back a few generations … I think most of us could be tracked back to immigration and I’m white.

Strange how people went straight to the geography of the attack when it was on a train moving from the north of England to the south- well London. I know the route well it has few stops. This one apparently started in Doncaster then it would stop at Wakefield then Peterborough, where it was thought the attackers boarded. The attack happened soon after leaving Peterborough and the train made emergency stop at nearby Huntington close to a hospital. It’s a very regular service sometimes starting from Edinburgh most often Leeds and in this case further down at Doncaster.

Football hooligans fight each other, if at all. These were in black. The train was short. Terrifying. It seemed planned maybe two but possibly one mentally ill person. Or a fanatic with a vengeance. Bad news massively sympathy for all those involved.
I heard a child, girl was about to be attacked and an oldish man put himself in the way and was stabbed in the head. Luckily it seems there are no deaths but at least one seriously injured. The psychological damage will be massive. Very bad news.

What an absolute shitshow it will be if, in the lead up to the budget, Starmer has to get rid of Reeves. It’s getting to look like a very unfunny black comedy. The Government are full of champagne socialists with their snouts in the trough.

Reeves has form, of course.

If you are planning on pulling Britain out of the ECHR then I hope you aren’t fussed about the right to a fair trial for your children. I hope you aren’t bothered about continuing to have freedom of speech to say what you like, or freedom from discrimination for being female. They are all important ECHR rights.

what a stupid response to the situation!!

Do you think the UK had no human rights before the ECHR existed?

Our values were used to create the damned monster it has grown into.

WishinAndHopin · 02/11/2025 02:16

Like the Southport stabbings, you can also bet on the colour of the victims.

Yes, like so many “random” attacks.

It’s horrifying that so many racial attacks against white people are labelled as “random” and not identified as what they are.

Myeviltwin · 02/11/2025 08:56

I lived in a volatile country for 3 years where riots, martial law and targeted killings were the norm and I came out of it with chronic PTSD so no - I would not recommend riots.

MaturingCheeseball · 02/11/2025 08:57

I just can’t stomach the posters on here gleefully speculating that it was football supporters . And then trying the “nothing to see here, don’t speculate” line - even though they were speculating away that it was a couple of Newcastle fans (!) and then moving on to we must all keep quiet.

Never mind the victims, very sad and all that, but best brushed under the carpet.

NetZeroZealot · 02/11/2025 08:57

Gettingbysomehow · 02/11/2025 08:54

Becsuse they said it was a terrorist incident. Just not what kind of terrorism. But we can guess.

They didn’t actually. They retracted that statement. They have said Terrorist police are investigating it. That is not the same thing.

Gloriia · 02/11/2025 08:57

Passthebiscuit12 · 02/11/2025 08:51

Shh don’t remind them of that !
they don’t want to hear it

So you think the fact that the 7/7 murderers were born here means that their idealogy to commit such heinous crimes was based in British culture?

Edited

Yep. I am 45, born in Britain, my Mum is American, my Dad is Welsh. Most of my family is Irish / American. But I guess that’s okay because I’m the “good” kind of immigrant type background (white). 🙄

LeafyMcLeafFace · 02/11/2025 08:50

Wow! That’s some mental gymnastics for you!

Bottom line is there is an issue, anyone denying that is part of the problem. But it is very difficult to have a balanced conversation with people who get their information from social media, believe in Farage, think rioting is an appropriate response, think Yaxley Lennon is a man of the people, paint flags on roundabouts rather than volunteer, do litter picks etc to show they’re proud of being British / English.

Nothing is being done. People are angry.

It’s that simple. It’s not “right wingers stupidly believing social media fake news”

It’s pure frustration and desperation of people not being listened to and seeing their community being murdered, raped, and having less and less recourse to things the rest of the country take for granted. For example, health care, education, playgrounds safe to play in…

If you keep ignoring them, they will keep getting angry.

cottonwoolie · 02/11/2025 08:58

@Negroany you replied to my post about my fears. Like I said visiting NI during the 80s & 90s put my life in London is perspective. That was my experience, you are entitled to yours of course.

& what would be France's response? and/or the EU's response?

There would be at the very least, economic consequences & possibly military ones when we try your suggestion.

We don’t need to listen to the EU. We’re actually defending our country. And France would do exactly the same was it the other way round. We’re doing nothing wrong. Just returning the people to where they came from. France have been getting an easy ride - people turning up there, and then just offloaded to us. Maybe they need to start to be pro-active their end….

jasflowers · 02/11/2025 08:58

RoseHipNovember · 02/11/2025 08:54

What on earth are you taking about?! Even Germany, of all places, have recently discussed leaving the EHRC. And it was treated as a completely normal and rational idea, not the hysteria you’re demonstrating.

Membership is entirely optional. No country is forced to join the Council of Europe or accept the European Court of Human Rights; they choose to do so, and can withdraw at any time.

Err you ve totally mis understood me, i was referring to towing boats back to France, that would carry economic consequence.

Leaving the ECHR wont solve anything, we belong to plenty of other treaties and have embedded domestic law plus it does nothing to solve the issue when a country refuses to take back a migrant.

Germany has no intention of leaving the ECHR and the 2 countries currently deporting the most migrants is Sweden and Denmark, neither are going to leave the ECHR.

They're illegally entering a country, some with the intention of murdering its people

They should be treated like any invading army.

And if you actually cared about them you'd want this. Many of them die in accidental drownings every year. The Hiroshima bomb killed thousands but saved millions of lives.

They aren't entering illegally if they are refugees. The fact that you want British citizens to stand around and watch children drown means, frankly, that your opinion is worth less than nothing.

Because there are millions of Muslims who live in peace and harmony in the UK.

We need to focus on the bad apples, not start demanding all Muslims are deported.

Screwdrivers will do the same damage.

My relative is an A&E doctor and she told me that many of the gangs in Liverpool are using knives and screwdrivers to stab their victims in an upwards motion in their groin area. The idea is to cause catastrophic harm (testicle/ penis removal, colostomy bag etc) but only be able to be charged with GBH.

It's awful the lengths that some people will go to hurt others.

I do think that the current design of kitchen knives allows for maximum damage with minimum effort. Of course there's a black market for everything, and every house in the country already has a collection of sharp pointed knives, but changing the design of new knives would be a step in the right direction.

Passthebiscuit12 · 02/11/2025 09:00

What I’m shocked about in reading a thread on a social media site and the post was someone wondering about travelling to the uk etc

loads of comments were “ in 60, 50 22 years I’ve never known anything like to this to happen on the trains etc it’s always been very safe “

have they all got very short memories ?

TwistyTurnip · 02/11/2025 09:00

Listening to LBC and they said there will be a British Transport Police press conference some time after 9am leading up to 10am. I hope they are open and honest with the British Public.

British born to immigrant parents or grandparents.

And if people really were interested, they’d seek to understand the experience of the parents, grandparents and 2nd and 3rd generation kids. To understand what happened to make some of them so disenfranchised and angry that they do these things. Most people in this situation do not go on to commit these acts.

I am not saying that this makes terrorism acceptable and lets people off the hook by any stretch of the imagination, but anyone who genuinely wants to address this issue will make an effort to think critically, explore the intersectionality of people’s experiences to try and stop this happening again. Not have a rant on social media, throw some bricks at a hotel housing asylum seekers and put up some flags.
