Yes but if the only knives that can cause major injury are illegal or homemade then that's less knives easily available to cause harm and then crack down on the illegal suppliers. Guns are easily available in America and looks how much gun crime they have. Knives are easily available in the UK....go figure. You've focused on one of my 10 possible solutions, do you agree with any of the rest?

I am running on several threads ATM - please bear with, thanks.

Speculation could be stopped easily if the police released a statement about the people responsible for the attack. The silence is deafening.

Perhaps that is because they are still trying to verify the facts?

It’s blowing my mind how many posters are terrified of riots to the point they’re ok with knife attacks on trains and kids’ dance classes…

Yep for Labour presumably. Madness.

Namechangey23 · 02/11/2025 08:35

I've just posted 10 possible solutions to aid the problems! Sure there are more! No solution is easy though. All will be ££££££

No i was referring to cross channel boats, which is what the pp was talking about.

Here is one, sanction France and the EU, 100% tariffs aka Trump...until the boats stop.

Yes there will be huge economic and travel costs but if it matters so much to the UK and it needs tackling, then we will bear this with a grim smile wont we?

Imdunfer · 02/11/2025 08:41

Nolletimiere · 02/11/2025 08:39

And, btw, let’s hope that this mendacious government does not try to bury the ongoing Reeves scandal this week.

Disrespectful? No. Plausible, yes.

I trust that the DM will continue to chase it down.

I'm not a fan of Reeves but if your letting agent told your husband he'd sort the licence, wouldn't you leave it at that? Is a non issue, politically, or should be.

Ineke · 02/11/2025 08:41

Does anyone know anything really about the attackers yet or is this all speculation?

Gloriia · 02/11/2025 08:42

Pepperedpickles · 02/11/2025 08:32

Why on earth have you assumed the perpetrators are anything to do with illegal immigration? Nothing has been said about that anywhere.

Well because sadly we are seeing it more and more. If this ends up being 2 local men who were both off their heads on weed, both had a simultaneous psychotic episode and both coincidentally had weapons then fine but we all know which way this is likely to be heading.

I loathe the silly messages from MPs 'do not speculate' as if we're a bunch of naughty school kids and haven't in fact seen an increase in horrific attacks.

LeafyMcLeafFace · 02/11/2025 08:43

Nolletimiere · 02/11/2025 08:29

If Starmer was handed a ‘sinking ship’ then why did he take on the job?

Why did he promise to ‘smash the gangs’ ad nauseum?

Was he ‘mistaken’ or did he lie? Which is it?

I’m no expert but I can imagine it’s not a quick win.

Someone has to try and sort this absolute nightmare out and the fact that it’s a sinking ship and someone is willing to give it an actual try and do it is not really a cause for complaint.

And I mean a proper go, not like the sort of thing a 7 year old would say about ‘turn them round’, army and sinking ships etc.

Given that the licence needs to be co-signed by the house owner, and the £900 fee paid, then yes, Reeves and her husband should have chased it up.

Guns aren't a necessary item in every kitchen where someone cooks. Knives are.

You aren't being silenced, you ve posted freely on here, Robinson held a huge rally in London, people can vote Reform and their 4 MPs can speak in Parliament.
FB etc is full of people who express their views on immigration, we even got a poster on here saying we should murder asylum seekers, that post wasn't deleted.

But the police shouldn't be releasing info on the attackers until they know, chances are these pair will be "no comment" all the police will know is their appearance.

As far as i'm aware Labour recognise the problem, but despite trying too, they, like the Tories before them, cannot stop the boats

Now for the n th time, how would you stop the boats and remove the 100k plus already here via boats?

Not so easy is it.

Edited

Come out of the ECHR for a start. Take back control. France are the source of incoming asylum seekers, so we patrol our shores and return them. This would be a huge job initially, but once asylum seekers see this happening, they won’t be paying money to people traffickers, and the attempts should slow down.

And they’re also widely available in countries with low knife crime, for example Japan.

The knives aren’t the issue. The issue is cultural.

Front page article in Mail on Sunday today. Apparently Reeves was advised by two estate agents that she'd need licence to rent out home, but told PM she was unaware.

Negroany · 02/11/2025 08:45

Nolletimiere · 02/11/2025 08:17

I will tell you a first step - let’s have your response to it.

To stop trying to silence people, and their legitimate concerns about what is happening in this country.

Many of us want to know that our sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, husbands and wives are able to live without fear of being stabbed to death by someone who evidently hates us. We want the information, so that we can make an informed decision - not so it can be retrained by a government, incapable or unwilling to act, for the purposes of ‘social cohesion’ - more likely because it offends a section of their core voter base.

How about they stop taking us for fools?

That’s what I want as a first step - an admission that we have a problem.

And this is said, irrespective of the outcome of last night’s terrible attack - just to be clear.

If that's the first thing you want, I have great news for you!

Noone is trying to silence you and your legitimate concerns. Woohoo. Here you are, not being silenced.

Hear yourself talking to people and not being arrested for it. Go on X, or other sm platforms, post, and don't get arrested. It's incredible.

You must be ecstatic.

(With the obvious exception that if your "legitimate concerns" are just a veiled attempt to stoke more racism and violence in the country, then yes, you would rightfully face consequences. But you don't mean that, of course, you mean legitimate concerns, so that's OK.)

What’s a ‘proper go’?

Look to countries who have resolved it, they are not 7 years old and citizens will never vote the policies out.

Thanks - I realise these things are not linear, but what progress has been made over the past 15 months, please?

cottonwoolie · 02/11/2025 08:46

@Negroany well obviously not the 70s & like I said my experience in London was nothing compared to family in NI. My dad worked in the city so sometimes I worried about him. Personally my risk as a young person was pretty low, I never thought a stranger would run up and deliberately target me for example. I think about 20-30 civilians died here which is obviously one too many but 7/7 resulted in over 50 deaths alone.

It’s backwards thinking because young black men are also the most likely to be victims of knife crime so the “racist” policy of stopping and searching more young black men in areas where knife crime is prevalent actually saves the lives of young black men.

These people saying first thought was football fans !!! Oh yes football fans usually run through a train stabbing random people, happens every weekend doesn’t it . Also the person who said they’re hoping it’s a white British person , disgusting remarks on here

People are not terrified of riots per se. They're scared of unrest, disorder, violence, the crumbling of structure, escalation, an undercurrent of hate.

cant believe you are trying to conflate that with this terrible incident which we know very little about at the moment.
