2 arrested. I can't imagine how awful this was for the victims

They have been around for a good ten years by us.

I have no thoughts on the identity or motive of the attackers, we've seen attacks from many sections of society but the most frightening thing about last night is how hard this sort of thing is to detect and stop and how easy it is to perpetrate.

They didn't have to learn how to build bombs and actually obtain the supplies and make it. They just picked up knives, possibly from their own kitchens and got on a train hidden in plain sight of the millions of others who use trains across the country every day.

Thank you, many of us live/have lived in these areas of high immmigration and have been saying for the past few years about this issue. There’s so many people in their nice MC area unaffected who have no idea about the actual problem people are warning about ,calling us racist and thick from their John Lewis sofas. They literally have no idea about the reality of the situation

Don't disagree but what happens when a dinghy refuses to stop or deliberately sinks itself? or a migrant cannot be deported because the country of origin refuses to accept them? or we have no means of travel there?

1000s of died trying to cross the med, some boats sunk deliberately, still they keep coming.

Plus of course we have no idea if the 2 arrested are asylum seekers or 3rd gen british, we know v little

I’m struggling with concept of white vs black here tbh even if they were black doesn’t mean they were not British and were Muslim. If they were white doesn’t meant they were British or not muslim.

I thought exactly the same. I remember how quickly they named and shared photos of the man who drove into the crowd at the Liverpool parade when they won the league last season because he was white.

Again. This. I want to be able to travel, visit places within my OWN country without being afraid that I or my family may get caught up in the next terror attack. I’m absolutely sick of seeing these attacks carried out in my country, we pray for the victims, lessons will be learned and yet here comes another boat, full of MEN - hardly any women or children. Nothing is being done to stop them. They should be immediately sent back!!

He was no acting in the name of any ideology, which is why he wasn't classed as a terrorist.

However, the definition of terrorism is now being changed, so an ideology isn't a deciding factor.

Not sure why so many are keen to try to pretend it isn't terror related. More than likely it is.

Not sure what to make of the thread really.
It’s sad that we’re at a time now in life and politics where every crime awaits a baited breath response of ‘What colour we’re the criminals’ so that we can either fuel more hatred or proof against immigrants (we can’t be sure yet that they were!) or be vindicated that white people commit crimes too (which we know they do!)

Yes, the Labour apologists are running out of valid arguments, of strawmen, and they are running out of time (not to mention other people’s money).

The white v black is that if they said they were white then the right wing thugs who will start riots today won't start riots.

When this government instructs us not to do something, the best course of action is inevitably to do the polar opposite.

I think both of those posts were by the same person. Their writing disturbed me enough to AS them. They have a number of unusual opinions which led me to decide to ignore them rather to engage in any discussion.

This is what confuses me about the whole we want to know if they were black. My DP is black and British and my best friend is Muslim and whiter than me !

The message will immediately spread to the potential illegal immigrants that trying to cross the channel will definitely be unsuccessful and could result in death.

Result: The boats will stop and countless lives will be saved. No more accidental drownings via the crossings and fewer murders in this country by Islamists

These trains don't usually stop at Huntingdon, they go from Peterborough to Stevenage and barrel through Huntingdon on the fast track. This was an emergency stop. (Unscheduled on the news reports, well obviously.) Slight bit of good news is it's not very far from the hospital, I can walk from the train station to the hospital in ten minutes. So the injured who needed hospital treatment would have got there quickly.

Just feels very scary and surreal. I used to live in Huntingdon (very close to the train station) and that probably sounds ridiculous. I was in Huntington visiting my friend on Friday.

Britain is facing a major racism problem. And I’m not talking about white people. The young men who come in on the boats…hate us. Period.

It's not bizarre at all, it's a question of what will and what won't trigger riots by right wing thugs tonight.

Where I live multiculturalism is alive and working well generally. Or has been for decades up until very recently.

However, going by the press, with all the biases that it brings, it feels the recent spate of illegal immigrants include too many young, violent, likely severe ptsd men coming. I wish that families were treated more favourably and that the UK would initiate a system of claiming asylum from outside the country. Deport anyone coming via boats and only consider cases from processing centres elsewhere.

More than immigration, IMO, the issue is male violence. Male violence being the norm, being applauded by online influencers, by swaggering Presidents, being encouraged by radicalists of all religions and stripes, and being amplified by algorithms. No idea what to do about that. And Reform would be a catastrophe for this country economically and socially. They have not a clue.

This is v true. It feels like we’ve been conditioned now to expect to hear that it was a terrorist incident and/or two men who lost their asylum claims and that is the focus rather than 10 people fighting for their lives. An older man apparently blocked a younger girl from being stabbed and was stabbed himself in the face and neck.
