That’s it’s catastrophic and they’re going to come up with ways to actually stop this from happening?

Yes this. Tweeting trite phrases every time won’t wash.

Angela59 · 02/11/2025 07:31

Let’s be honest it’ll be,

  1. Public outcry
  2. Headless cobra meeting
  3. Candle lit vigils
  4. Repeat

Until the decent people in the country wake up and realise their priorities.

Increasing numbers of BAME britons feel this way and would tell you so but would be called coconuts, crabs, uncle toms, brainwashed fools etc by the determinedly "anti-racist" types.

Absolutely.

My elderly mother is increasingly worried about the state of the UK. For years I dismissed her, we are immigrants too, how could we be against immigration?

I now completely agree with her. All immigration, immigrants and cultures are not equal.

I'm not sure what the public can do. We've been increasing our house security (not that it would make much difference if an organised and violent group of men kicked down the door really, but it makes me feel a little better).

Things others worried about used to seem so far fetched. But that horror we all watched happen from a safe distance is here now, and coming to a child's bedroom near you soon.

Oh you know, every halloween when the traditional and historical stabbings from Newcastle football fans are legendary. Happens repeatedly every year.

Oh sorry, no, it's actually terrorism that's far more likely.

Terrorist attacks, specifically Islamist ones are happening all the time in the UK now. Not football fans stabbing random people while dressed in black and carrying knives.

But then what do you expect, when Jews are banned from Birmingham and Islamic preachers have nothing done to them as they instruct men and young boys on the proper way to stone a woman to death.

The UK will soon face its own October the 7th up and down the country. It's becoming inevitable.

Don't be ridiculous.

October 7th....

One cannot compare even the Paris attacks to the massacre carried out by Hamas, what an insult to the victims.

Everyone on here who’s screaming cover up and why haven’t the police described the perps yet - that was normal practice until Southport at which point all the dreadful stuff posted online changed things a bit. Police have a job to do finding evidence at this point. Journalists will tell you that information routinely wasn’t released until later and not for any sinister reason.
And for everyone saying something has to happen - well, what? Armed police on all trains? No funds or enough police (thanks austerity). Deport all asylum seekers? Not that simple especially since we Brexited. There aren’t any simple solutions, no matter what people like to tell you.

This. I was caught up (but fortunately not injured) in the 7/7 attacks. There is nothing different about tube travel today than there was then in terms of visible, physical security. (If anything there are less staff at stations). There is little that can be done to stop random terror attacks or those perpetrated by people with mental illness. So blaming the government or whoever else for these attacks isn’t the right thing. It’s part of a bigger world picture and societal issue that has been building for decades surely? Calling for changes to how public transport operates is also pointless. The cost would be exorbitant and it’s undoable as much as everyone would like that to be different.
My DH takes that train three days a week. He will pause for thought now but still use it as I and millions of Londoners did the tube after 7/7. We got back on the tube as anything else was letting the terrorists win.

This poster wasn’t being racist or misogynistic. Statistically it was far more likely to be a male perpetrator. And it is reasonable to assume a different response to a white British man and a non British/man of colour… given current tensions in this country the latter is likely to spark retaliation against minority communities

I believe they weren’t just talking about this post but posts from several weeks recently that this person has written.

The Labour government have done a lot of decent stuff for ordinary people. The media is very right wing and under reports it. Starmer isn’t ideal for me as a PM but he’s vastly better than Bojo, Truss etc.
I’m pretty sure the train attack was terrorism. We had terrorists under previous governments too. I’m not sure what it’s Starmer’s fault. It just suits the Reform supporters to claim that.

Genuinely, what “decent stuff” have they done for “ordinary people”?

Too many excusing it because they still like Starmer, oddly. It’s a shrinking group.

Question, as an aside.

Starmer has repeatedly said he will ‘smash the gangs’.

Has he done so? We are 15 months in, so what progress has he made, please?

Imdunfer · 02/11/2025 07:36

I think the fact that eye witness accounts are available by the dozen yet no mention is being made of the attackers being white in any report from anywhere on the world tells us exactly what colour these attackers aren't. If they were white, we'd know, in order to prevent riots from sparking. I don't know what, now, is going to save us from serious civil unrest in this country. Successive authorities have made a complete ballsup of multiculturalism in this country.

I am not convinced they ‘like’ Starmer (who would).

More a case of they dislike Farage.

Either way, it’s a negative.

This in spades. Stop the boats. The immigrants that come to our country through the correct channels and with the right intentions are welcome. The ones that come to deal drugs, steal, hurt people and don’t contribute anything meaningful are not welcome.

SulkySeagull · 02/11/2025 07:37

@Cluborange666 what has he done exactly for ordinary people? He’s taxed the shit out of small businesses which is crippling them meaning there’s going to be mass unemployment soon - I know that much from experience.

Jesus... now we have a poster calling for cross channel dinghies to be bombed..

Why stop there? round up the 100k plus x channel migrants here and kill all those who cannot be deported?

Namechangey23 · 02/11/2025 07:37

I hate to say it but when I saw the attack happened after Peterborough, I did instantly think it will be asylum seekers.
I'm left wing, live in a nice middle class area where we don't have those problems...Yet. But coming from the area near Peterborough, I can say I was shocked when I went back but so long ago and did not feel safe due to the gangs hanging around and blatant stealing. It did change my opinions somewhat. The truth is the people that are coming in are not all nice but hard done by people just grateful to be here. Some are desperate individuals leading to criminal behaviour. Many have vastly different cultures and values than our own and come from countries where women are basically second class citizens. These people are all being dumped in poorer areas creating ghettos and ill feeling. There is no programme to integrate these people or educate them and give them a sense of belonging. History tells us where this all leads. I have often feared an attack on the trains as I am forced to get then daily for work and now it has happened. I think they need to start screening for knives and weapons now in all public places as there will be more attacks. Museums, events, trains, schools, buses, supermarkets, ferries etc all should screen. There needs to be a massive crack down on knife crime to stamp it out. Where are they getting knives from and especially the extreme 'zombee' hunting knives. You should need a license for hunting weapons. Tougher sentencing on possession of a knife. Stop and search needs to be beefed up again (remember Teresa May messing with it and reducing its effectiveness?) and I'm sorry to say if you fit the profile for the typical knife crime assailant, yes you will be searched, for everyone's safety. Yes it's irritating but if you haven't got a weapon you have nothing to fear.

I get where she is coming from in a weird way. The issue is that hate breeds hate and everything is on the edge at the moment - something will cause it to peak new levels eventually and this may be it.

Or alternatively, we need facts. facts which aren’t obscured by useful idiot types desperately clinging on to the matra uncontrolled immigration is not an issue.

We are letting in violent people from violent countries. We are letting in people who think their culture and religion should replace the one of the country they’re fleeing to.

We need action and we need it now. We need to pause immigration hearings, we need to withdraw from treaties, Over night we need to surround immigration centres with the army, we need to start removing people who have arrived here undocumented. The only way to “smash the gangs” is to remove their customers by making Britain unappealing to them.

Any immigrant committing a crime here should be fast tracked through the judicial system and deported immediately. Our navy should patrol the edge of international waters. And refuse to allow boats through

OwnGravityField · 02/11/2025 07:41

May or may not be related. I have seen an increased police presence (BTP) in the area (like, at train stations) in the last few weeks.

EsmaCannonball · 02/11/2025 07:41

Sadly, I think we are going to see more of these attacks. Maybe it's my pessimistic cast of mind but I travel a lot on buses and trains and I've sometimes thought about what I would do if suddenly someone launched a stabbing or shooting attack, and the answer is: not much. You are boxed in, trapped inside and often miles from any possible response. Welcome to the new normal.

In the last couple of months or so a lot more of those 'If You See Something Suspicious, Report It' posters have appeared on and around public transport where I live.

Jews are not banned from Birmingham. Football fans with a track record of violent disorder (and singing songs in the streets about raping Muslim women and glorifying the deaths children who were killed in Gaza) who support an Israeli team were banned. They even got banned in Israel for their violence. Lets get the facts straight.

Doesn't the UK have any small isolated island territories in the middle of the ocean somewhere?

All illegal immigrants should be immediately removed and sent there. They can leave any time they want to, a one way flight to their country of origin. If they don't want to go back or be honest about where they are from then they can live on the lovely island.

Frivolity aside, the rising anger in this country will ofcourse lead to a rise in extremism on both sides. People are people and history is the biggest predictor of the future. Perhaps resulting in what you are saying.

I just wish the moderates on both side would pull their heads from out of their asses and realise that something has to change. And very quickly too.
