No kool aid here. I usually vote Lib Dem because they stand the biggest chance of beating the Tories where I live.

But I do see the constant right-wing propaganda and how the drip drip of the same phrases and ideas are influencing people. There is a huge amount of money going into right-wing social media at the moment, designed to cause division and hate. That's where all the flag shit came from, and it's why the UK suddenly feels racist when we all got along quite well until a few years so.

I don't know why people can't see it.

Just because you live in a Tory enclave cushioned from the worst effects of uncontrolled immigration, it doesn’t make you a superior person.

The train was from Doncaster. Nowhere near Newcastle.

Why would there be Newcastle fans on a train that's not coming or going to Newcastle. Its got nothing at all to do with a football match.

It carried passengers from York. It was the 1Y90 18:02 York to Kings Cross. Rail replacement services were running but Doncaster wasn’t the origin of all passengers. We don’t know enough yet.

I think it is living rent free in your head.

Oh FGS, every time someone tries to play the R card without merit, it simply reduces its power, to almost become meaningless.

It’s also hugely disrespectful and disempowering to those who are genuinely suffering from racism.

Why the obsession with Reform? Please tell?

My focus is on Starmer and this abomination of a government. Here’s a reminder as to the polls - I prefer to accept their veracity versus your comments…

Reform 27%
Cons 17%
Labour 17%

Starmer's personal ratings are worst of any PM from the past four decades after 300 days.

Oh dear.

Starmer's personal ratings are worst of any PM from the past four decades after 300 days.

I’ve seen that statement tossed around repeatedly. But I’m not sure whether the metric of the polls quoted are actually comparable.

I suppose he can’t be worse than Truss. Seeing as she didn’t even last 300 days…

The report on Sky said it was from Newcastle to London.

Newcastle fans are known to be a bjt shitty, in sorry to say. Like I said. It was just my first thought. I’m not going to bend myself backwards into some sort of racism rage when we don’t know anything about the identity of the suspects.

You're pushing this hard. I fear you will end up with egg on your face. I'll leave it to others to speculate about your motives, although your attack on the fans of Newcastle is unnecessary, inaccurate and crude.

It's been reported the attacker was seen to have boarded the train in Peterborough. If true, that theory would be quite a stretch.

What on earth has Halloween weekend got to do with anything?

Oh you know, every halloween when the traditional and historical stabbings from Newcastle football fans are legendary. Happens repeatedly every year.

Oh sorry, no, it's actually terrorism that's far more likely.

Terrorist attacks, specifically Islamist ones are happening all the time in the UK now. Not football fans stabbing random people while dressed in black and carrying knives.

But then what do you expect, when Jews are banned from Birmingham and Islamic preachers have nothing done to them as they instruct men and young boys on the proper way to stone a woman to death.

The UK will soon face its own October the 7th up and down the country. It's becoming inevitable.

If anything the level of violence from recent immigrants is being underreported by the media. Last week, in the wake of all the stories in the news, I was talking with a friend who is herself a Sri Lankan immigrant and who works as a nurse in a big city. She was, obviously, pro-immigration and fairly progressive on these issues but the last couple of years have changed her thinking. The main problems she mentioned were: Somali/Ethiopian/Eritrean gang violence which is off-the-scale, unbelievable in its brutality and ruthlessness, spills over into hospitals but which doesn't even make the local news; domestic violence within Muslim families where the victims won't talk to the police because they will be ostracized by their 'community'; dealing every day with an increasing amount of men who are actually angry and seething with contempt at being treated by a female; the hospital employing a number of people in roles like cleaners and HCAs which those people are only doing to help their immigration status while they are fairly openly making their actual money from organised crime, mainly drug-dealing and money-laundering. She's an immigrant who now is thinking of migrating from the UK because of immigration, and none of the problems she has to deal with on a daily basis makes a newspaper or a television station.

Yes, I agree here. Im a child of immigrants myself, yet we as a family have ploughed back hundreds of thousands in taxes, similar for all my friends, all medics, nurses, dentists, opticians, high finance. Immigration was a good thing and we have a drive to succeed and better ourselves. However this country is struggling anyway and the 'new' immigrants are making even us feel uncomfortable purely because its these low level gangster types who just don't add to society. With no job prospects in the current climate, anyone would fall by the wayside, but these types in particular become so radicalised.

You clearly know bugger all about football.

Newcastle fans are known up and down the country to be among the best there are. The polar opposite of 'a bit shitty'

Added to the fact that the train was nowhere near going to or from Newcastle and it would be hard to hide carriages of people wearing black and white stripes.

The mental gymnastics required to pull such a ludicrous stretch is insane.

Increasing numbers of BAME britons feel this way and would tell you so but would be called coconuts, crabs, uncle toms, brainwashed fools etc by the determinedly "anti-racist" types.

I get where she is coming from in a weird way. The issue is that hate breeds hate and everything is on the edge at the moment - something will cause it to peak new levels eventually and this may be it.

a decent intelligent man?
Literally no one is buying that line anymore…they’ve run out of road and he will be remembered as possibly the worst PM in history.
But nice try.

I don't think anyone could genuinely believe Keir Starmer is a 'decent' man. 'Weak', 'coward' and 'liar' are reasonable descriptors that most intelligent people I know would use.

Hm? No obsession here, and I’m not disputing anything you’ve just written.

That said, when someone claims a PM has “the worst ratings after 300 days” in the past four decades, it’s worth noting that not all prime ministers even managed to serve that long. I’m also not sure the polling metrics are directly comparable.

It just feels like one of those catchphrases that could end up being a bit misleading.

This poster wasn’t being racist or misogynistic. Statistically it was far more likely to be a male perpetrator. And it is reasonable to assume a different response to a white British man and a non British/man of colour… given current tensions in this country the latter is likely to spark retaliation against minority communities

Fair enough, but I hope that you accept that Starmer is clearly deeply unpopular - we can all draw our own conclusions as to why that might be.

For me, it’s predominantly because he is a liar. Yes, he is also weak, cowardly, vindictive etc. He lied to obtain power, and will seemingly do anything to retain it.

Many of us will now watch his words/deeds closely, as the facts surrounding this terrible incident, become clear.
