First it is oh we are only against illegal immigrants.

Then it’s we are against Muslim, brown and black immigrants… then the full scope of their agenda is rolled out and before you knew it they’re now pointing at those who have immigrant parents or grandparents and so on.

Dont forget the football away fans…

It doesn’t mean anything is confirmed but it also isn’t a go to for all stabbings on public transport

There are hardly any stabbings on public transport, how would you know? Stop speculating and spreading fear and misinformation.

JHound · 02/11/2025 00:56

BIossomtoes · 02/11/2025 00:50

That’s because it hasn’t. Nor has any description of the arrested men been released.

Ok. I will just ignore all the speculation on this thread then. Likely coming from posts on X. I will wait till we learn more tomorrow.

It's a bit of a thing with a certain demographic to look to America as a 'way forward' at the moment.

As if it's not an absolute fucking shitshow over there!

I know. I was being rhetorical.

BIossomtoes · 02/11/2025 00:57

cottonwoolie · 02/11/2025 00:56

I think the fact they have released the info that counter terrorism are supporting means it's likely tbh.

It means it’s possible.

The category gets wider and wider and wider….

Just seen this on Sky News, related to the Code Plato someone mentioned earlier

Police responding to a mass stabbing on a train near Huntingdon at one point declared "Plato" - the national code word used by police and emergency services when responding to a "marauding terror attack".
However, this declaration was later rescinded, British Transport Police said.

There are lots of vile unfounded posts on X, if you try to find the source, you won't.

They just hope they end up being right and then look like soothsayers. They are often wrong, but they just move on from those ones!

cottonwoolie · 02/11/2025 00:59

It means it’s possible.

I don't think they would have realised that info without any indication but you can disagree.

awakeandasleep · 02/11/2025 00:59

Negroany · 02/11/2025 00:53

Why would you use terminology like "right to bear arms"?

Obviously I totally disagree that we need to arm the public, or even routinely arm the police, but even if I did think that, I'd probably say "we should be allowed to carry guns".

Very odd phrasing for a Brit.

Because I can - thanks.
We should be allowed to protect ourselves or armed security on trains etc

CatsLikeBoxes · 02/11/2025 00:59

awakeandasleep · 02/11/2025 00:54

OK well I think I might buy a GSD then as I don't feel safe in the UK. I need a guard dog to travel by train now.

There are approximately 1.6 billion passenger rail journeys a year in the UK, most of which suffer nothing beyond delays and this (obviously appalling) incident has left you feeling that to travel by train is immensely dangerous?

Something definitely needs to be done or Reform are definitely going to win the next election. Why can't Labour see that? Why do they continually try and minimise what is happening? Why don't they actually do something about it?

https://www.btp.police.uk/news/btp/news/england/statement-following-incident-at-huntingdon---cambridgeshire/

Published:00:4702/11/2025
We can confirm that at 7.42pm today (1 November) British Transport Police were called to reports of a multiple stabbing on board the 6.25pm train service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross.
Officers immediately attended Huntingdon station alongside paramedics.
Armed police from Cambridgeshire Police boarded the train and arrested two people in connection to the incident who have been taken to police custody.

Ten people have been taken to hospital with nine believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries. One is being treated for non life-threatening injuries. There have been no fatalities.
This has been declared a major incident and Counter Terrorism Policing are supporting our investigation whilst we work to establish the full circumstances and motivation for this incident.
Chief Superintendent Chris Casey said: “This is a shocking incident and first and foremost my thoughts are with those who have been injured this evening and their families.
“We’re conducting urgent enquiries to establish what has happened, and it could take some time before we are in a position to confirm anything further. At this early stage it would not be appropriate to speculate on the causes of the incident.
“Our response is ongoing at the station and will be for some time. Cordons are in place and trains are not currently running through the area, and there are also some road closures.
“I thank the public for their patience and their cooperation this evening which has already greatly assisted our policing response. We will update you again as soon as we have more information.”
Anyone with information who hasn’t already spoken to police is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 quoting reference 663 of 01/11/25.

This means criminals are more likely to have guns

FOJN · 02/11/2025 01:01

LaserPumpkin · 02/11/2025 00:52

Has it even been confirmed it’s two men? I thought I saw men referred to earlier, but now it just says “people”.

Two have been arrested but I can only see eyewitness reports (so far) of one man with a knife. I've not seen anything about the nature of the second man's involvement.

The attack started shortly after the train left Peterborough, Google maps says the train journey from there to Huntingdon takes 40 minutes. I can't even imagine what that was like for the people on the train.

What is “Labour minimising”? The investigation in still underway - the incident was only a few hours ago?!

To be fair there was a lot of anxiety about travel on public transport after the London bombings. This is obviously much smaller but it’s understandable. I catch trains to and from Huntingdon station frequently and it’s rattled me.

StewkeyBlue · 02/11/2025 01:02

9 with life threatening injuries
10 in hospital
No fatalities

Yes, when they said it was the Newcastle to London train it was what I thought.

later on on a Saturday, pissed up, coked up football fans will do a lot. I’ve witnessed fights on trains before because football fans thought that someone was looking at them funny.

Football fans on a train are terrifying

cottonwoolie · 02/11/2025 01:03

Are they trying to minimise it? Stopping the boats is complex & expensive with no easy solutions. I assume that's what you mean.

I wouldn't tend to phrase it like that, but a lot of people do use American phrasing like "gotten", "snuck" etc.
I don't feel it would be helpful for more people to be armed, but I would like to see more conductors/security staff on trains, and public places in general. I'm not saying this would stop all attacks, obviously, but it might make things safer and reduce the number of people harmed, or harassed.

It was actually the Doncaster to London train so no Newcastle fans involvement

It means it’s possible.

Oh, give it up, it means it's probable.

If it is terrorism, we still don't know the motive behind it. Assuming the perpetrators were black men as the witness accounts PP have quoted are true, they could be black far right extremists for all you know. Would that make peole feel better?

It’s absolutely brilliant that nobody dies but I hope those who were attacked receive adequate health care both physically and mentally.
