I feel like we should have the right to bear arms now as our Government is not protecting us.

Thoughts and prayers with all those affected today.

Yeah bevause that works so well in the US where there is a mass shooting a week and a much higher murder rate.

Yes. Filling society with guns would definitely help.

JHound · 02/11/2025 00:49

Where has it been confirmed as a terror incident? I have not seen any news outlets confirming this yet?

That’s because it hasn’t. Nor has any description of the arrested men been released.

Netcurtainnelly · 02/11/2025 00:50

PandoraSocks · 02/11/2025 00:47

Was about to ask the same.

What the hell does it matter its bloody true.

Frannieisnthappy · 02/11/2025 00:44

Why?!

Because she watches GB News ad that's what she's being told.

Utter bollox but it seems like many believe it.

ForestBath · 02/11/2025 00:46

Sky news have just confirmed counter terrorism police involved.

But has it been confirmed it was a terror incident though?

19:30 on a train heading out from London on a Sat will probably have a lot of football fans on it. However I think now many footy grounds have metal detectors so a footy gan carrying a large knife is unlikely.

If you were going to target a train as a terrorism act surely a commuter train early in the morning would be more of a soft target? A footy train with loads of younger men wouldn't be a soft target.

It wasn't heading out of London. It was going from Doncaster to London, left there 6.25pm, and had just left Peterborough where it seems the perpetrators got on, and it stopped at the next station after P'boro which is Huntingdon about ten minutes on.

So, while we don't know any identity of perps or reasons, we do pretty much know it wasn't "football hooligans".

cottonwoolie · 02/11/2025 00:51

Absolutely not

In short, critics argue Starmer is falling short because:
He lacks a strong defining purpose or message, making it hard for voters to connect or rally behind him.
His public popularity is weak, undermining legitimacy and momentum.
He is facing internal cracks within his party, meaning leadership may be perceived as weak.
On policy he is under pressure: both delivering on big promises and avoiding backlash.
His balancing act between left and centre (and business interests) may leave everyone somewhat dissatisfied: the core base feels let down, new voters are unconvinced.

Thanks ChatGBT.

Or maybe she doesn’t live in your lovely leafy area and she can see the rot for herself?

Has it even been confirmed it’s two men? I thought I saw men referred to earlier, but now it just says “people”.

Netcurtainnelly · 02/11/2025 00:49

You shouldn't even have to ask the question.
Innocent dogwalker stabbed by looney afghan from an hmo.

Do you expect him to comment on every murder that happens in the country? There were reports that the other man who was stabbed was the guy's landlord so not some random rampage.

cottonwoolie · 02/11/2025 00:52

GB politics twitter account is claiming "code plato" was activated, denoting a marauding terror attack

that just means it was treated as such, it doesn't mean terrorism was the motive.

JHound · 02/11/2025 00:53

Netcurtainnelly · 02/11/2025 00:50

Nah it’s just you having an issue Starmer. (Weird you cannot form your own words on the subject.

Plenty do have an issue with him and plenty here never voted for Labour but still no reason for him to stand down.

BambooBambou · 02/11/2025 00:53

DrudgeJedd · 02/11/2025 00:15

Don't lie, murderers, rapists and other men convicted of violent crimes go to jail after sentencing they are not immediately deported.
If you've escaped a war-torn hell-hole and fought your way across Europe to get here then serving a prison term in the UK is infinitely preferable to being repatriated.
Some people like to think that only victims flee from the horror of war but quite often it's the perpetrators who end up in a better situation.

I am not lying - go read the immigration rules and statute. Committing a violent crime does not increase the chances of staying in the UK. Also obviously there are people who commit crimes among all populations, but the journey here, often exploitation along the way and trauma that causes refugees to leave in the first place just breaks people. It is horrendous, but it doesn't turn them into criminals.

Did I say it had been?! Just relaying the updates from sky news. We will find out in due course I'm sure.

Why would you use terminology like "right to bear arms"?

Obviously I totally disagree that we need to arm the public, or even routinely arm the police, but even if I did think that, I'd probably say "we should be allowed to carry guns".

Very odd phrasing for a Brit.

cottonwoolie · 02/11/2025 00:53

@LaserPumpkin still saying two men on BBC

OK well I think I might buy a GSD then as I don't feel safe in the UK. I need a guard dog to travel by train now.

“Lovely leafy area”.

Such a tired and lazy trope.

Well they would be. It doesn't mean anything is confirmed.

It doesn’t mean anything is confirmed but it also isn’t a go to for all stabbings on public transport

It's a bit of a thing with a certain demographic to look to America as a 'way forward' at the moment.

As if it's not an absolute fucking shitshow over there!

YetAnotherNewUserMoniker · 02/11/2025 00:55

Cannot quite believe the knee jerk reactions on this.

Not least blaming football fans and Newcastle
fans in particular. Can’t recall any Newcastle related incidents of late, particularly en route to London!

my thoughts are with all those affected.

cottonwoolie · 02/11/2025 00:56

I think the fact they have released the info that counter terrorism are supporting means it's likely tbh.
