Oh it’s just dogwhistling over a case with little info. And given the rarity of mass stabbings on a train I don’t know how there could be any “usual suspects” for a rare crime.

There have been mass stabbings in countries like Germany that have been terrorist attacks. It isn't surprising that is what people jump to.

rainbowunicorn · 02/11/2025 00:24

LittleBowSheep · 01/11/2025 23:56

FFS! Why does every thread on MN have to end up with posters trying to outdo each other with what they think has happened and then resort to insulting other people with differing views.

It's clearly a serious incident for the PM to have made a statement so early on.

Show some respect for those involved.

Some of you seriously need to get a grip.

I agree. It is pathetic the way some posters just keep arguing and squabbling with each other.

AutumnTimePolice · 02/11/2025 00:24

JHound · 02/11/2025 00:22

I genuinely have no idea who it is. I doubt very much it is football hooligans or women but a mass stabbing of this nature on a cross country train is sufficiently rare enough for me to have zero idea.

Potentially terror related if there were multiple assailants.

Your faux naivety doesn’t wash with me I’m afraid.

You need to go to night school to gain a grasp of statistics hen!

She said “majority”. Her comments are factual.

Firealarm1414 · 01/11/2025 23:21

In what world would anyone's first thought that this was football related with everything thats been going on? I've never heard anything so ridiculous in my life. This kind of faux naive virtue signaling is nauseating and bordering on gaslighting. Yes we know you're so kind and nice and would never suspect any minority of committing a crime so it must be those dastardly British "ultras" 🙄 until proven otherwise, which of course, it will be.

Man dressed all in black with a "large knife". Its terrorism.

Exactly!

What is “naive” about anything I wrote?

Exactly. Starmer needs to go.

I don’t remember any calls for the PM to go in 2005 when London was bombed. Get a fucking grip.

Incidents specifically like these are so rare, period. I was talking about the stats for violence in general.

Most people affected by violence are harmed by the everyday violent acts that go on in every other street in the UK.

Yes and if it was Germany then I would have an entirely different response (as it’s an established pattern there).

Your first thought?

In Cambridgeshire? What's that got to do with football,a team from Newcastle or East London?

Maintaining culture cohesion is just too important. We’ve seen what happened with regards to other cases. Nobody likes being lied to I understand that, but do you want potential protests and riots? Do you want a Reform government?

Hold my pint..

Rotherham
Rochdale
Telford
Derby
Peterborough

For the sake of ‘Social Cohesion’

Shame on you woman.

Exactly, PM stepping down due to terror attacks has never been a thing here at least not in recent years. Was it 2017 when that horrible London Bridge thing happened?

Who was in power then? Don’t recall the PM being asked to step down then.

ForestBath · 02/11/2025 00:28

My first thought was a terrorist attack too, but listening to sky news I think it unlikely. There have been eyewitness accounts of 1 suspect being arrestsd, but no one saw the second being detained. would they both not be wielding weapons if terrorism was the cause? No religious chants have been reported. Sadly, I think it may be mental health related and there was actually only one attacker; the other may have been arrested " on suspicion".

This is about more than just a stabbing on a train tonight.

I’d be looking at Farage as the reason for that, not Starmer.

Firealarm1414 · 02/11/2025 00:29

I've seen online that apparently these men were rampaging through the train for 15 mins before someone pulled the emergency stop. If that's true the numbers injured must be quite high. Absolutely horrific. My heart goes out to everyone involved.

cottonwoolie · 02/11/2025 00:29

I don't disagree but surely this counts as squabbling....

“Immigrant background” = Briton”. Bringing in anybody of any potential immigrant background becomes meaningless as that is millions of Britons.

But how many mass stabbings like this have there even been in the UK and how many by immigrants?

BIossomtoes · 02/11/2025 00:29

Exactly. Not even a fan of starmer but blaming any of this on him especially after the shit show we had from 2010-2024 is a joke.

LittleBowSheep · 02/11/2025 00:30

Netcurtainnelly · 02/11/2025 00:15

The pm.is part of the problem.
He dosent give a toss about British people.
He still hasn't said anything about the man in Uxbridge stabbed to death by an afghan last week.

The only reason I mentioned the PM is because of the significance of an early statement showing the severity of the incident.

My thoughts are with those involved, I'm not interested in anyone trying to score political points.

JHound · 02/11/2025 00:31

Netcurtainnelly · 02/11/2025 00:28

So then even less reason to call for Starmer to go.
