You need to go to night school to gain a grasp of statistics hen!

Aye.

I didn't read it properly, feck.

spoonbillstretford · 02/11/2025 00:31

Horrible but in the US it would be a mass shooting and they average one a week.

Just to put things in perspective.

BIossomtoes · 02/11/2025 00:29

I’d be looking at Farage as the reason for that, not Starmer.

Starmers the one that's got no back back one and lets loads of unchecked men into.the country.
As said, he still hasn't mentioned the stabbing of an innocent man by an Afgan in Uxbridge last week.

Ha ha are you actually blaming Farage for all the fucking crimes immigrants are committing? Gotta love mumsnet.

JHound · 02/11/2025 00:33

You have no idea about who could do such a thing 🙄

What’s “naive” about what I wrote?

dapsnotplimsolls · 02/11/2025 00:33

BTP update - no fatalities, 10 taken to hospital.

“Immigrant background” = Briton”. Bringing in anybody of any potential immigrant background becomes meaningless as that is millions of Britons.

But how many mass stabbings like this have there even been in the UK and how many by immigrants?

First it is oh we are only against illegal immigrants.

Then it’s we are against Muslim, brown and black immigrants… then the full scope of their agenda is rolled out and before you knew it they’re now pointing at those who have immigrant parents or grandparents and so on.

DrudgeJedd · 02/11/2025 00:33

JHound · 02/11/2025 00:18

It increases their risk of deportation. It increases the risk far more than launching and winning an appeal would. Also where is this flood of asylum seekers (and we have ZERO idea if this was asylum seekers) committing crime to get a prison sentence to delay their deportation?

It increases their risk of deportation after they've served their sentence.
I doubt these violent men have given much thought to their long-term life goals.
Career, building up a pension, setting their kids up with a trade??
Aye definitely their top priority

Were there no “unchecked men entering the country” before Starmer?

Do we even know the perpetrator(s) were “unchecked men” who entered the country?

cottonwoolie · 02/11/2025 00:34

There have been a few terror attacks involving knives. I couldn't say if the perpetrators were born here or not.

dottiehens · 02/11/2025 00:35

Lifesd · 01/11/2025 23:35

Why an earth would we want to hope it is a white British man?! So it fits a perceived narrative and doesn’t lead to questions about the type of people who are coming here unchecked/vetted from violent third world countries with histories of religious terrorism?

What a bizarre thing to say.

I would said what a fuck up thing to say.

So then even less reason to call for Starmer to go.

Have people on the thread just arrived in the country or something? What about all the major terrorist incidents we had in the 2010s? A dangerous place to live my absolute arse.

Try how dangerous it will be when your violent fascist thug mates get in.

Not on the scale it is now. There are hundreds of men from God knows where coming in every fucking day. Boris was useless but Starmer takes the biscuit.

Yes. Increases their risk. Launching and winning an appeal is a far better option. But where is the evidence of loads of asylum seekers committing crimes to be sent to jail to delay deportation?

I can understand that people might commit low level crime to stay, but i highly doubt anyone would risk a life sentence for multiple murders for this end.
If it is terror or asylum related, i would doubt the end game is to stay in britain for 20 plus years in a maximum security prison. There would be another motive surely.

marigoldsareblooming · 02/11/2025 00:38

JHound · 02/11/2025 00:21

No they’re not. It is absolutely correct to state “Statistically the majority of crime is not committed by asylum seekers and immigrants” as the data supports that.

Somebody skipped maths class!

There were a number of other PMs aside from BJ and Starmer. How would Starmer stepping down do anything?

In short, critics argue Starmer is falling short because:
He lacks a strong defining purpose or message, making it hard for voters to connect or rally behind him.
His public popularity is weak, undermining legitimacy and momentum.
He is facing internal cracks within his party, meaning leadership may be perceived as weak.
On policy he is under pressure: both delivering on big promises and avoiding backlash.
His balancing act between left and centre (and business interests) may leave everyone somewhat dissatisfied: the core base feels let down, new voters are unconvinced.

Nah - I am pretty clear on the data - using prison and population stats as a basis. That PP was correct.

Why is the media referring to the “Boris wave” then? It’s fallen.

Net migration was 431,000 in 2024, a sharp decline from the unusually high levels in 2022 and 2023. However, it remained higher than levels seen during the 2010s, when the figure typically fluctuated between 200,000 and 300,000. Post-Brexit, net migration has been driven by non-EU immigration. In 2024, 69% of non-EU immigration was for work and study purposes.
