A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I can barely ever even find the other thread. It's rarely in active threads. 🤷‍♀️

Forgot to say, I had a conversation with my formerly-Labour voting friend today about potential income tax rises. She's bloody furious and can't wait for the chance to vote them out! They're doing so well. 😬

Rarely in active threads! True.

Buy jars of mincemeat, brandy, pastry and let the man alone in the kitchen 🤩

You've reminded me that I need to make sausage rolls at some point. Must get on with that soon as time is rattling past.

This was funny - the line about innocuous baddies…

’Rachel Reeves’s TV address wasn’t a trailer, it was a trigger warning

Gosh. Is it be a goady twat time? Maybe I should go elsewhere and try similar tactics!

Don’t be so horrible. I like to encounter an unexpected visitor on here from the tedious Labour threads. (To lurkers, they are Labour threads: all that “I don’t vote Labour/I’ve put my cross against everyone in the past but not Labour etc”, is obvious poo).

We should encourage a bit of trespass and nosiness on here. It’s like the neighbours peering over the fence because our party is better than their dismal gathering where they earnestly debate the relative merits of Attlee, Gaitskell and Wilson, over warm Co-op white wine.

So long as @Nolletimiere and @Rexinasaurus continue to post on the other thread you have me.

Brandy snaps with whiskey/whisky cream of choice.

Christmas comes via Waitrose and M&S.

Yay. Brandy snaps now on my wishlist, thanks

@justasking111 nearly 50 and feeling the same about treats. We can't even have cheese around xmas dinner now we get too full..

Have to watch and moderate I guess we are heading towards those older parents who live on a sparrows diet and start to admonish older children for wanting several pizzas to feed us all when a cold half will do.

I've just noted the Xmas food chat. I brought four packets of Lidl lebkucen the other day to "get ahead" and we are currently three packets down thanks to DH.

I have an iron rule for Christmas - mince pies are only allowed after Christmas Day until the 6th of Jan.

Edited

Thats nice, keeps them special. We used to have our first mince pie when putting up the tree. That was before my husband turned into mince pie pac man.

Trust me this is a place of MISERY. People who stockpile booze in a garage would not be my neighbour of choice.

Ok but why read it? It’s not compulsory

Rivalled · 04/11/2025 20:07

Same here @RoyalImpatience nearing 50 and an endless struggle to keep the middle aged spread at bay here! I have to remember there are only 4 of us - hardly worth a Christmas delivery slot!

I love a good sausage roll. Tesco do a sort of game pie with cranberry sauce on the top. It's very pretty with lattice on the top.

Thank fuck! 🤣🤣🤣

Rexinasaurus · 04/11/2025 20:09

There’s no way we could get any Xmas treats early. They’d all eaten almost immediately by all of us. We have to go for delivery mid dec and then nearer Xmas day. I do envy people who can have treats in the house, and not eat them!!

Though I’m a grazer who could eat treats all day after mid day and no proper food.. not great but it’s fun.. less washing up. Husband makes proper meals and eats treats.. 🙃

Upstartled · 04/11/2025 20:09

Gosh, yes Reeves really does look quite ill. Isn't it usually the PM who ages quickly during office? Starmer seems to be doing just fine.

Righty ho. So how is the chat going about Rachel Reeves and Sir Keir over there? Everybody happy? Or are you all back to Thatcher, Reagan and the monsters under the bed?

Surely Tony Barber is to blame for the current parlous state of the economy under our present shiny political leaders?

I'm not a fan of sweet mixed with savoury, so cranberries on game pie isn't really my cup of tea. Love game pie, unadulterated, though!

Clearly.

Too big of a temptation for you, knowing it's there....

Honestly I’d prefer if the neighbour does want to slam the door and leave at this point.

We have a laugh about how bad Labour are and chat it’s all good.

Tbh she’s got an awful job. Made worse, by herself. She knows it.. I’m starting to feel a bit sorry for her.. knowing she also knows Starmer would stab her in the back at any time..

I think he's a comfort eater, the rather porcine look he's sporting.

My mum used to make mince pies with a puff pastry hat on top. I'd lift the hat and put some of her brandy butter on the hot mincemeat, pop the lid back on and let it melt. Lush.

I can't make trifle unfortunately it's always a disaster.

I make a great trifle.

Too bad I never follow a recipe and cannot replicate.
