Brands you (unreasonably) dislike?

I was thinking about this tonight as I parked next to a Renault SUV. It’s completely unreasonable but I’ve never liked the brand since someone I know once said ‘it’s like driving a bin on wheels’. Even though I’m sure the brand is perfectly fine (and very popular) it’s stuck in my head. Apologies to all Renault drivers!

I’ve got other brands I unreasonably dislike too but do you have any?

Dr Oetker! I have no idea why but since I was a teen I've found it utterly repulsive to think of a doctor making my pizza 😅😅

New Balance from working in a deprived area, where they were the trainer of choice of most claimants, unemployed and those generally reliant on the state

Ferro · 30/10/2025 22:40

Pot Noodle told me it wasn't for the likes of me.

Well OK, fuck you then.

Nogooddeed1 · 30/10/2025 22:43

Gails - overpriced bread
Holland and Barrett - stuff no one needs
WH Smith - daylight robbery
Joe the Juice - as above plus the venues always look like the need a good clean

Dontfencemein · 30/10/2025 22:44

Soap and Glory

McDonalds, simply because my dad had a strong dislike of it which he admitted was irrational. He explained that at one point he was working three jobs, and he used to grab a McDonalds burger on the way from one job to another and wolf it down. So he associated it with stress and indigestion.

So when I was a child my family would eat just about any other brand of fast food, but not McDonalds. And I still won't eat it myself. I mean obviously it's rubbish food, but I do eat other fast food like KFC and Domino's which is probably just as unhealthy.

Brewdog. Years ago they were looking for 'punk investors' which just irritated the life out of me. Terrible company.

These have made me laugh but I agree with a lot of them. In particular Michael Kors (trying so hard to be a top end designer but in reality is just high street crap with a naff logo).

Also, not a brand but I actually cannot stand Morrisons as a supermarket. I can shop at literally any other supermarket but I actually panic when I have to set foot in a Morrisons. The layout, the price labels and signs... I don't know why but the whole experience sets me on edge and I just need to get out of there as quick as possible 😂

I'm with you there!!

A clothes designer I know recently travelled for research to a factory in Asia where loads of well known underwear brands are made. The owner was giving him a tour and he was shocked to find out that the high-end brands are no better made than than the high-street versions - you’re simply just paying for the name.

Yes - it's so annoying when people believe a designer label means better quality/longer lasting/ betterctreatment of workers etc

Pandora bracelets, esp the charm ones. Overpriced and horrible. Jo Malone (or any brand really) scented candles. Do people really have time to burn candles? And they are so bad for you.

Are they bad for you?

I don't like the cheap ones, but one with decent scent is a lovely way to unwind.

I had no idea they were bad for you...

Roseshoe · 30/10/2025 23:06

Burning paraffin wax candles indoors with no ventilation is not good for you. Soya or beeswax candles are fine.

Cantheowneroftheredcorsapleasemovetheircar · 30/10/2025 23:11

I didn't know what Lucy and Yak were until this thread. Just googled and had a look at their website.

Oh my. That is truly hideous.

Matriarchofmenopausemansion · 30/10/2025 23:11

Totally irrational....can't help it.....Fiat 500s....every time I see one I just feel irritated!!!

cafenoirbiscuit · 30/10/2025 23:12

Ritter Sport. I saw an ad a thousand years ago when they begged us to buy it. Because they needed the money. Have never tried it. On principle 😂

The sanctuary stuff smells weird i can't describe it really.

Fly spray

Vaguelyclassical · 30/10/2025 23:16

Uggs. For making people think that ugly, expensive things are desirable. (Actually I've just indicted 3/4 of all fashion brands!)

idontknowhowtodreamyourdreams · 30/10/2025 23:20

Rapha cycling gear

CorvusNoir · 30/10/2025 23:23

These have all come up already I know but ......
Bayliss & Harding - just seems like cheap imitation Molton Brown to me
Soap & Glory. Hideous packaging. Puts me right off.
Pandora charm brackets. Little girl jewellery for grown up women?
Louis Vuitton - I don't get the colour of that brown . Looks a bit --....

It is so awful and depressing in there, I cannot explain why.

I worked at morrisons for quite a long time. Everything is out of place there, when you walk in to the fruit and veg bit it's all at a weird angle and laid out like a "market" but there's odd tables at the end of the rows that sell weird things like biscuits and a cake at the end of a row of apples. A fish counter next to the bananas etc. Then there's some strawberries over here but wait there's more over there too. These ones are on offer but the rest of the offer is at the other side of the aisle. Then there's the harsh lighting and flooring changes with every department, most shops do this but my god do morrisons DO this.
Theres the extra bay things with meat one week then cream cakes the next. Its so unpredictable and it makes no sense. They pride themselves on customer manipulation but in reality it all makes for an awkward shopping experience.

KTMeetsTheRsUptown · 30/10/2025 23:29

TEMU! (are they a brand🤔) I'm sick of seeing their adverts everywhere online, and how are their products so cheap (some free) they must be involved in slave trade 🤬

Letsgocamping67 · 30/10/2025 23:32

pAnything advertised by Stacy Solomon or Mrs hinch #cashtomeplease totally fake.

Thankyouitwasdelicious · 30/10/2025 23:33

Karen Millen.

Because when I was 21 they didn't make dresses beyond a size 12 and I had t*ts and this was pre-elastane. I left the shop after a flatty told me smugly they didn't make size 14s. I know they do now but they can phuq off.

Can't stand it. They dominate every set of search results and I spend my life explaining to my dc why we aren't going to buy from them.

mayGodhelpusall · 30/10/2025 23:38

Balenciaga are doing it all wrong imo. They sound like a luxury fashion brand and with their holey t-shirts they are anything but. They try to be edgy but it's not working. Boss are similar in their very basic designs but not as "edgy".
