What’s your favourite album of all time

DH and I embraced the shuffle generation very early on from our very first iPod and before that mixed tapes. It seems like decades since we last actually listened to an album.

today we had a long drive so we’ve done
Bat out of Hell (I’d forgotten how good that was)
brothers in arms
a Joni Mitchell one was a bit dreary
Ella Fitzgerald gold (absolutely brilliant)
Invisible touch (it seems the fuck up your life lyric has been cleansed on Spotify)

give me your recommendations we are very open minded with music tastes and genres the only thing that brings the shutters slamming down is rap

I love Paul Simon's Graceland, and also Chris Isaak Baja Sessions. Cant decide which is my favourite

I can’t choose one

Graceland
Rumours

Sweet Love (Anita Baker)
Rumours

I'm not sure I have a favourite album, it very much depends on my mood at the time, and I have quite a random taste in music.
Recently I have listened to :
Fatboy Slim You've Come a Long Way Baby.
Beck Odelay.
Radio head OK Computer.
Blue Ballard of Darren.

Billybagpuss · 24/10/2025 19:10

Oh thank you there’s some brilliant suggestions so far and some I’m not familiar with. I loved Graceland haven’t heard it for years

George Michael Listen without Prejudice

The Beatles Sgt Pepper (I don’t like much of the Beatles stuff otherwise)

Savage Garden Affirmation

JDM625 · 24/10/2025 19:12

Prince- no idea what the album is called but the one with Doves cry, Raspberry beret etc in the 80's.

Larrylobstersrollerskate · 24/10/2025 19:12

Disintegration by The Cure. I’m a sad old goth still at heart. That album almost has to be listened to as a whole album.

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 24/10/2025 19:13

Thriller

Barton10 · 24/10/2025 19:15

Deacon Blue When the World Knows Your Name

Bat out of Hell is great.
Also love What's the Story Morning Glory by Oasis.
Both came out at times in my life that were very significant in a good way and represent more than just the music, lots of great memories.

Nothing sad about the cure. Another album we haven’t heard for years and is now on the list but that’s the thing with shuffling everything you forget how amazing a full album is.

Thank you. It was Purple Rain, but I thought Raspberry beret was on the album too- clearly my brain can't recall! To me it was a few years ago, not decades ago 😬

BloodyHellBob · 24/10/2025 19:19

I absolutely love Rumours by Fleetwood Mac but also Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt is one I return to fairly often. True Colours by Cyndi Lauper is another one that always reminds me of being a young teenager. Nevermind by Nirvana and Gran Turismo by The Cardigans are excellent for car listening 😁

Mamalasira · 24/10/2025 19:19

I'd come on to say -
Graceland
Rumours
Tapestry (Carole King)

Uricon2 · 24/10/2025 19:20

Siren, Roxy Music.

I'm with you. It was definitely 4 years ago and not 40. 😳
