Daughter in hospital - full thickness burns

Title says it all really. I took dd to have her hair coloured today - and she's ended up in burns ward, with full thickness chemical burn on her forehead and a 50/50 chance of needing a skin graft. WTF??? Can't believe it.

Am in bits.

(have namechanged)

That looks so much better.

grumpygrape · 27/06/2026 11:28

I can't believe it's been 9 months.

It's looking much better but they aren't going to say it was a minor thing are they?

spiderlight · 27/06/2026 11:34

That's healed incredibly well. It will be barely noticeable soon - my son had a scar on his forehead that looked like that for a while (head vs metal park bench) but it's ended up white and so faint that I can't see it unless I'm looking for it.

@Nightmarehairinjury

@Salonburn posted their Instagram account name, they seem to have suffered the same injury as your DD and have an account based on that. Think they need to PM you the name rather than posting it publicly though

ItWillBeDone · 27/06/2026 12:00

Wow OP, I didn't see your thread before but what a horrible thing to go through. It's incredible to see how well it's healing though

Nightmarehairinjury · 27/06/2026 12:33

@Salonburn feel free to message me x

This

she asked for the name of the salon

I would ask her to tell you the name of hers via message

CoolPlayer · 27/06/2026 12:53

Intrigued to know what Salonburn posted.....

Not much to update, still waiting. This is how it's looking now, about 9 months post incident

The insurance company’s 90 days must be almost up… Good luck.

As I said my claim is still ongoing and been over 3yrs

Insurers denying liability.

OP posts:
TakeMeDancing · 08/07/2026 12:59

So who is liable here then?

JustMyView13 · 08/07/2026 13:03

@Nightmarehairinjury I think that’s the standard initial position. If it wasn’t the hairdressers, then who do they suppose it was? Have they expanded?

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/07/2026 13:07

Nightmarehairinjury · 08/07/2026 12:56

Insurers denying liability.

Course they will

carry on with the claim

think you went via your household insurance legal claim like I am

notapizzaeater · 08/07/2026 13:17

Claims take forever, I’m 6 years in !

Ineffable23 · 08/07/2026 14:09

Oh that's crap @Nightmarehairinjury though probably not a surprise. What are your next steps?

TiggyTomCat · 08/07/2026 14:17

On what grounds - did your daughter pick up the wrong bottle and apply it herself? It's a hard one to deny liability - guess you will see them in court....the salon won't want that publicity.

NotInvolved · 08/07/2026 14:41

Unfortunately in my experience insurance companies will do whatever they can to avoid or at least minimise payments. Actual justice doesn't really seem to come into it.
I was involved in personal injury claim after an accident and it took nearly 5 years to resolve even though the other party had been found guilty of a criminal offence. My solicitor told me that dragging things out for a long time is a well known tactic to try to get the plaintiff to give up or accept a low offer. Stand your ground!

Nightmarehairinjury · 08/07/2026 14:42

Call with solicitor next week to discuss.

Insurance companies are, without exception, robbing cunts who will do anything they can to wriggle out of paying out.
