Daughter in hospital - full thickness burns

Title says it all really. I took dd to have her hair coloured today - and she's ended up in burns ward, with full thickness chemical burn on her forehead and a 50/50 chance of needing a skin graft. WTF??? Can't believe it.

Am in bits.

(have namechanged)

Aww, well you know how nosy kids are 😊
Glad she's back ok. Best wishes to you both...

Lol - think it was mostly the teachers. At least they all know which hairdresser to avoid....

Was it the salon owner who did your daughter’s colouring?

No, one of the senior stylists

Senior? 🤦‍♀️ I wonder how long until she gets fired. The owner’s insurance premiums are going to skyrocket after they have to pay out for this. Plus loss of business due to reputational damage.

XWKD · 03/11/2025 22:04

That's wonderful news. She's clearly a very strong lady like her Mum.

Nightmarehairinjury · 04/11/2025 16:10

School photo tomorrow 🙁

But on positive note - case assigned to solicitor via our insurance, so another journey begins.

Yes and it's likely to be a long road, sending you strength.
Hope DD is ok with her school photo tomorrow and that it's not too stressy for her.

Hairdresser has just posted another Facebook post adveetising on scalp bleach by stylist who burned dd. I'm so so angry again. It's like they are fucking doing it on purpose!

That's concerning

Nightmarehairinjury · 05/11/2025 20:38

It's fucking unbelievable.

Wow I would be fuming too! And tempted to post a link to this thread

LaserPumpkin · 05/11/2025 21:01

I’d be tempted to take screenshots every time they post advertising for that - proof they haven’t really taken your DD’s injury seriously if they’re still advertising this

Nightmarehairinjury · 05/11/2025 21:05

I've taken Screenshots - and have posted on my own v private Facebook page. Today was first day I haven't cried over what's happened - and this just sets me right back. I feel like I'm falling apart.

OP
I have asked for my last post to be deleted because I think it was too personal and identifying, and not really helpful for you.

But basically I was explaining why I think I know how you feel.
When someone hurts your DC, it cuts deep.

Stay strong and I hope you'll be alright (as much as you can be)

The last paragraph of that post might have been helpful:
"Keep your chin up and swear aloud to yourself about the fuckers.
That's what I do and it's actually recommended by therapist"

Nightmarehairinjury · 07/11/2025 12:38

Hope folk don't mind me keeping this thread going, it's a bit like therapy for me just now. Had wound clinic appointment this morning, all good. Graft looking better already, and donor site healing well. Photos for those who don't mind a bit of gore!

I cant believe they are still offering this service after this and it being an ongoing thing

I feel for you and your daughter, sending love

Loreimvo · 07/11/2025 12:52

they have done such a good job with that graft, I know it won’t feel like it for her right now but 6 months down the line that’s going to look totally different in a good way. She’s a trooper!

We're excited to see how the wee tuft of hair at the front looks! No chemical colouring of hair until after follow up with consultant in just under 3 months.

They’ve done such a good job of the skin graft! I was honestly unsure what to expect opening the images. Once everything is healed, you’ll only see the bit on the forehead. I think it’ll cover well with make up if desired, but probably blend over time naturally anyway.
It’s amazing what can be done.

(None of that is to minimise the other stuff with the salon which is frankly disgusting. I hope the solicitors take them to the cleaners on this one. I’m surprised their insurers are allowing them to continue to offer the service).

PinkKimono · 07/11/2025 13:15

Gosh, they seem to have done an excellent job OP. Scandalous that the hairdresser is still offering the service, though. I hope your DD isn't in any pain.

Petitchat · 07/11/2025 13:19

Yes, keep the thread going and updating us all.
The graft is a brilliant job.
Such a shame that your DD has had to go through this though.
How is she feeling?

TakeMeDancing · 07/11/2025 13:56

I’m raging on your behalf. I do hope your lawyer is shithot.

XWKD · 07/11/2025 14:01

That looks great! I hope that other scumbag gets her comeuppance.

QuickPeachPoet · 07/11/2025 14:38

Wow that is one talented surgeon. Only the best for your daughter - poor thing has been through enough.
FWIW OP, her original hair colour is lovely (although try convincing a teenager that!). She doesn't need to dye it!
