A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I watched throughout and it was appalling. Kemi was reading the question and she was being barracked by the opposition. It shows them as a bunch of stupid, vacuousand venomous lot who just don't care about the people they are there to serve.

They really are. Ffs

Yep, the Labour lot behind Starmer showed their true colours yesterday didn't they.

Vote day today let’s hope this works and gives Labour the final death of never darkening our country again, one can only hope.

Absolutely. I made my feelings clear on the subject yesterday. So looking forward to a bloody nose for Starmer.

We’ve got to hang on really haven’t we? I see Blair saying we should abandon green targets pushing up energy bills - this is more sensible than giving yet another subsidy we’ll never get rid of only to people Labour deem worthy.

but what do we think this Labour Party will do…

if any party is running with any policies supportive of expanding the private sector and rewarding hard work, that’d get my vote. Getting rid of stamp duty is a start…

EmpressoftheMundane · 23/10/2025 09:54

Human rights lawyers find all sorts of inventive ways to secure advantage for their clients. I wonder if those pushed above a marginal rate of 50% could ban together and sue the government on human rights grounds. Something about being modern slaves, and alienated from their labour, blah, blah, blah.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 23/10/2025 09:54

TBH, I think the behaviour of Labour at the last PMQs had more to do with the self-regard and nauseating false virtue of the left that’s been commented on by posters on this thread.

Labour MPs cannot imagine that they’re in the wrong, are unprincipled, are hurting people. If Labour does something it must be more humane and decent than anyone else. The Tories must be horrible and worthy of booing.

Labour MPs simply can’t countenance that the inquiry was shamefully pushed away for fear of scandal among Labour councils, was rubbished as far-right, a dog whistle, and that now it has happened it’s being sabotaged.

After all, if the left doesn’t delude itself into thinking it’s saintly, there’s nothing else for its politicians and supporters.

One thing Starmer said I wonder about. He said that judge-led inquiries pause while there are criminal cases on foot. Surely that must apply to all inquiries? Any inquiry could prejudice a prosecution. They just have to be careful about what they do and what they say publicly in the meantime. I find it hard to think that’s an argument against having a judge in charge.

I may be wrong. But if Starmer did mislead the commons about that I think it’s truly disgraceful and a resigning matter.

I think the recommendation was made by Casey not to have a judge because it would disrupt ongoing cases.

A way to square the circle, which I've heard floated, is to get in a foreign judge - one with a similar judiciary - who could preside over the inquiry without posing a risk to pragmatic consideration like this.

On the first part they are deluded. Everyone can see how nasty they are.

And the four grooming gang survivors - actually I'm sick of playing the game here - the industrial rape and torture of girls gang survivors issued a joint statement to the Home Secretary overnight calling for Phillips to step down as a pre-requisite to re-joining the inquiry. Along with other painfully obvious conditions.

Rivalled · 23/10/2025 10:11

Yes, it must really hurt that they feel they’re moral crusaders, and yet nobody else is buying it. Put down your capes…please!

Interesting idea, but I think my instinct is that the enquiry has to be run by UK peopl in order to be trusted.. Being over-ruled by an international political class - who are even further from understanding/caring about us than our own political class - has become too much of a perceived problem for that to be an option.

I wonder what nationality of judge Labour would suggest... one who 'understood the cultural issues' I would bet! 🤐

🤣 Fair point, well made. I'd dread to think.

Dozens of new-build projects in London have been abandoned as the Government faces claims it is set to miss its housebuilding targets.

In an echo of the financial crisis, construction sites across the capital are being boarded up.

According to a report by Molior Consultancy, work has stopped at one in six housing construction projects, including developments with more than 20 private homes.

Those projects would have provided up to 5,400 homes, the research suggested.

Weakening buyer demand combined with the long-term effects of inflation and rising costs have created a perfect storm in the housebuilding sector.

It’s simply unworkable.

Impacts the medical and legal professions, too.

Looking at the LLP threat from another (possibly extreme) angle: If GPs decide enough is enough and take their skills elsewhere there will be a knock-on effect on NHS waiting lists. GPs are the gatekeepers to NHS services; so fewer GPs = fewer appointments and subsequent referrals = lower NHS waiting lists.

And, totally ignoring the misery such a situation would incur, Streeting would be claiming Labour has reduced NHS waiting lists.

Absolutely - that’s one of the points.

Labour’s actions have consequences - many of which are negative. They just can’t (or wont) see it.

Its unfolding before our eyes - and we will curse their names for a long time after they’ve gone.

The Times is reporting that Reeves is now planning to make GPs exempt. Somebody must have had a word. Idiots.

Idyllic isn't the word I would use! Cult maybe, idyllic no.
Can you imagine living in a world where everyone supports Labour and Starmer 🤮🤮

In short, no - but you should be enjoying your Greek idyll away from this madness, @twistyizzy.

Forget the insanity, it'll still be here when you return - just enjoy!

I call them what they are. Pakistani rape gangs and it's about time those in authority (Labour) did the same. I think only Robert Jenrick has been the only one to have the balls to call them what they are thus far.
