Do you eat in bed?

Or allow your DCs to?

We're a no family now, but I've got to be honest and say one of my guilty pleasures as a teenager was to curl up in bed with some snacks and a book 😳

OP posts:
Arlanymor · 20/10/2025 16:03

Only if I am unwell.

Rockfordpeach · 20/10/2025 16:03

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 20/10/2025 16:05

Never. I don't even have cups of tea in bed.

I used to eat in bed when I was younger but not any more.
Unless like @Arlanymor I'm ill and need to stay in bed.

xxxwd · 20/10/2025 16:07

Yes, and I enjoy it!

ComfortFoodCafe · 20/10/2025 16:08

Yes & i couldn’t care less. Grin i change the sheets twice a week so its not so bad.

Glitterballofdreams · 20/10/2025 16:08

My older children do sometimes. In poor health I have taken a meal in bed too. Sometimes I will have my evening meal in bed just to have some peace after a busy day, but it is a rare treat.
I know some people eat all the time in bed, and others who only eat at the dining table. Whatever suits 🙂

Meadowfinch · 20/10/2025 16:10

No, early morning coffee only.

And ds isn't allowed to take food upstairs at all. I refuse to spend my weekends pulling cups and plates encrusted with green fur, from under his bed. 🤑

jay55 · 20/10/2025 16:23

Yes but I live alone and am the only one who has to deal with it.

pinkspeakers · 20/10/2025 16:27

DH and I never do.

DD and DS (early 20s) will sometimes take food to their bedrooms and I assume often eat in on their bed, if not in their bed.

They need their own private space in their bedroom more than we do.

Skiffster · 20/10/2025 16:32

Personally no. My teens will eat sweets and other snacks they've bought themselves, and during revision we supply them with tea, coffee, the odd biscuit. No one ever takes up a full meal.

Teen bedrooms are living spaces as well as sleeping spaces.

Cantseetreesforthewood · 20/10/2025 16:33

Hell no.

No food upstairs - tho DS (16) is starting to snack while doing homework. I suspect some of that is consumed in bed, but I don't need to sleep in those crunchy sheets!!

thisishowloween · 20/10/2025 16:34

No, but DH does all the time. I just prefer to eat on the sofa.

murasaki · 20/10/2025 16:36

As a kid, yes, on a tray, but now, no. The crumbs.....

TheChosenTwo · 20/10/2025 16:41

No. Dh used to bring me a breakfast in bed on a Sunday but it’s sheets changing day so crumbs weren’t an issue as I always stripped the bed immediately after.
But I’m up and out earlier than him these days on a Sunday. I always found it a bit grim though eating in bed, and not a good example to set to the kids as we’ve always been against food in bed.
The dc might take up some biscuits or crisps but no meals/plates go upstairs, dinners are eaten as a family in the kitchen together.

Luddite26 · 20/10/2025 16:41

As a kid in my sanctuary alone every meal. Not ever now. 2 coffees every other Saturday the only day I'm still in bed at 6 am. Very, very occasionally take a coffee to bed.

AnimalStyleFries · 20/10/2025 16:42

Only if I'm incredibly unwell.

inthedarkyoudontlooksobad · 20/10/2025 16:43

I do Fairly regularly, never had a spill until this weekend, I have balsamic vinegar stain on the white sheets 😅

youalright · 20/10/2025 16:43

No, no food upstairs at all. Only drinks.

BertieBotts · 20/10/2025 16:44

No, never. I can't stand crumbs in bed.

I used to when I first moved out of home for some reason - I remember a takeaway curry container leaking and leaving a turmeric yellow stain on some white sheets - what was I thinking Grin

Loulo6098 · 20/10/2025 16:45

Yes, because I love life and I'm not untidy.

I'm strict with DC because they'd turn their room into a second kitchen.

MardyAnn · 20/10/2025 16:45

DH loves tea and toast in bed and when the kids were small they used to live bringing me a bacon sandwich on Mother’s Day which of course I was always grateful for but honestly I prefer a hot bacon sandwich downstairs and a crumb free bed.

MNLurker1345 · 20/10/2025 16:46

No, never have, never will!

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 20/10/2025 16:48

Yes, cereal in the morning. Chocolate sometimes. Dinner only if I am poorly or overtired by work

HoobleDooble · 20/10/2025 16:49

Ooh Saturday morning bacon sandwich in bed is my favourite meal of the week! I will occasionally take a chocolate biscuit or something up with me when DH is on the late shift as I prefer to go up early and watch tv in bed or read rather than sitting downstairs alone.
