Do you eat in bed?

Or allow your DCs to?

We're a no family now, but I've got to be honest and say one of my guilty pleasures as a teenager was to curl up in bed with some snacks and a book 😳

No it’s grim.

NoKnickerElastic · 20/10/2025 16:49

Ugh no

MinnieMountain · 20/10/2025 16:49

Coffee only. If I’m ill enough to not make it to the sofa, I don’t feel like eating at all.

Yes and I love it.

SummerInSun · 20/10/2025 16:50

One of life’s great pleasures is if we’ve been out late eg to a concert is to come home and have tea and toast in bed before going to sleep.

MoominMai · 20/10/2025 16:55

I don’t know why but the thought of eating in bed makes me feel ill. Even if I was in a hotel I never do it. But as a kid I’d regularly smuggle cake into my bed and hunker down with a good book - and would quite happily eat a 3 course meal under the duvet if I could! 😅

OptiMumm · 20/10/2025 16:56

No

Even on Mother's Day when the kids were little and would make me breakfast with DH, I'd always tell him to call me down for it.

There's no real reason other than I just couldn't enjoy food while I'm still in bed.

DaisyChain505 · 20/10/2025 16:58

I love being in bed so yes I do!

Id choose the bed over my sofa all day long if I lived alone however DH thinks its shocking to watch tv/lounge in bed any other time that isnt bedtime.

Irritatedandsad · 20/10/2025 16:58

Occassionally. Not as a regular thing.

Caspianberg · 20/10/2025 17:01

No.
Except Morning tea on weekends

I might have toast or plain biscuit if ill in bed.

NotMyRealAccount · 20/10/2025 17:05

Yes, occasionally I'll read in bed with a cup of coffee and some chocolate or biscuits.

MirrorMirror1247 · 20/10/2025 17:07

Sometimes. I had a bowl of Cheerios in bed last night while catching up on Grey's Anatomy!

ImSoJulia · 20/10/2025 17:08

Yes. Cup of tea in the morning, sometimes porridge. Once a week a bowl of pasta in pj's after a run watching university challenge.
I don't make a mess. In fact I'm more careful in bed than at the table 🤔. It's just me which makes it easier.

Teens have snacks in their rooms.

applegingermint · 20/10/2025 17:08

Cups of tea most days. Very occasionally a chocolate biscuit or handful of Malteasers as well.

DappledThings · 20/10/2025 17:09

God no, far too uncomfortable.

EleanorReally · 20/10/2025 17:09

only on mother's day, when my dc was a child and would make me breakfast in bed

SeashellDREAMS · 20/10/2025 17:18

Only when I'm not feeling well, DH (might) bring me a cuppa and a plate of toast, if I'm lucky.
I've never found eating in bed ( when not sick, and then I'm propped up by pillows) comfortable enough to enjoy.
Besides, can't be bothered clearing the inevitable crumbs!
I do have a bed-tray somewhere, it was handy and last used a year ago when DH had covid.
None of my DCs eat in bed either, not since little anyway.

PlaydohClub · 20/10/2025 17:22

No. The crumbs feel hideous. You end up with them stuck on your back & on your legs.

A cup of tea in bed is acceptable though.

FancyCatSlave · 20/10/2025 17:24

Yes. DD and I like nothing better than a weekend bacon sandwich in bed.

Deadringer · 20/10/2025 17:27

No, aside from breakfast in bed on mother's day. I can't get comfortable sitting up in bed and I hate the idea of crumbs sticking to me when I am trying to sleep!

TeaRoseTallulah · 20/10/2025 17:29

Dh always brings me a cuppa first thing but other than that only when I am ill and can't get up.

BotterMon · 20/10/2025 17:33

No food, drink or animals upstairs. It's just not something we've ever done.

RandomUsernameHere · 20/10/2025 17:35

No and no, it doesn’t appeal to me and DCs have never asked to.

longtompot · 20/10/2025 17:36

My DDs do, but they have chronic pain conditions so I want them to be as comfortable as possible. Personally I hate eating in bed. I can never get comfortable and there's always crumbs left in the bed to find when trying to sleep later.

I do like a nice cup of tea in bed in the morning though ☕️

mamagogo1 · 20/10/2025 17:37

No, tea only
