Do you eat in bed?

Or allow your DCs to?

We're a no family now, but I've got to be honest and say one of my guilty pleasures as a teenager was to curl up in bed with some snacks and a book 😳

I'd really like to enjoy this - I've tried - but I just don't!

DH will have a cup of tea in bed but that's it.

poshcrisps · 20/10/2025 17:38

No. I can't see the attraction. My friend's husband takes her a cup of coffee and he takes ones and they sit in bed drinking it (first thing in morning)

I don't see the point.

tapdancingmum · 20/10/2025 17:38

Every morning I have my breakfast in bed. I go down, make my tea and toast and go back to bed to eat it. I sometimes have a late night snack of hot buttered crumpets and a cup of tea in bed.

The children aren’t allowed food or drink upstairs. I have cups of tea, but that’s it.

It's cosy 😊

Bowling4soup · 20/10/2025 17:41

We do… takeaway pizza in bed is the best

Growlybear83 · 20/10/2025 17:47

My husband brings me breakfast in bed most mornings. ☺️

aintnospringchicken · 20/10/2025 17:49

No. The one and only time I ate something in bed was on the morning of my wedding when my lovely DF brought me tea and toast, and that was over 35 years ago.
These days I don’t even have a cup of tea in bed.
Some PPs have mentioned eating in bed when they’re ill.If I am ill enough to be confined to bed and unable to get up ,then I’m too ill to eat.

henlake7 · 20/10/2025 17:52

Nope, just a hot drink maybe.
I'm way too messy an eater to trust myself with food in bed!

PurpleChrayn · 20/10/2025 17:55

No.

Once a year in my religion/culture we have to clean the house of all bread/wheat products and it’s just not worth the hassle to spread it upstairs.

Allthings · 20/10/2025 17:58

Never.

StanfreyPock · 20/10/2025 17:59

Breakfast in bed quite often, one of the best things about being retired 😁 Never anything else unless prostrate with flu or suchlike.

JohnTheRevelator · 20/10/2025 17:59

Of course. It's one of the joys of living alone! Must admit though that the crumbs can be a right bastard. 😂

Romeiswheretheheartis · 20/10/2025 18:32

Breakfast, yes, but only cereal and tea, nothing that creates crumbs

JabbaDaButt · 20/10/2025 18:55

Not unanimous either way!

Interesting because we are on holiday currently, sharing a villa with family, and my DCs are very invested in their older cousins eating in bed habits!

No way. I just don’t like it. Kids aren’t allowed food upstairs.

ruethewhirl · 20/10/2025 19:40

It’s one of my favourite places to eat. But I suffer from chronic fatigue and sometimes it’s a case of having to tbh.

DeanStockwelll · 20/10/2025 19:42

Generally only if I wake up in the middle of the night and I am hungry, then it's cheese and small crackers / pitta and hummus or crumpets. All of which are low / non crumb making .
Although me and @sweetpea1532 have discussed on may occasions how to invent a mini vav so we can cleannup without getting out of bed 😃

WhereAreWeNow · 20/10/2025 19:43

No.

Didntask · 20/10/2025 19:44

No. Tea or coffee, yes, but all food is eaten at the table in my house.

Itsnaptime · 20/10/2025 19:45

I'm single so yeah I do. Im currently scrolling through MN and watching hollyoaks eating crisps in bed 🤣

TempestToo · 20/10/2025 19:45

It is one of my favourite things to do. I also have dogs in the bed and I couldn’t care less 🤣

pavementangel · 20/10/2025 19:52

I don't now but yes as a teen I used to love getting cosy in bed with a bag of snacks and a movie.

GameOfJones · 20/10/2025 20:07

I am pretty sure I must have when I was a teenager/student but I would never eat in bed now. It just feels uncomfortable and wrong. Even after giving birth to DDs I got out of bed and sat in a chair to eat the tea and toast they brought me 🤣.

Occasionally I like the thought of having my coffee in bed in the morning but when I do it feels weird and I remember why I don't bother usually! Once I'm awake and out of bed I'd rather have my coffee and breakfast sat on the sofa.

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 20/10/2025 20:08

Yep! Bedtime snacks, or weekend family breakfast in bed which can get a bit messy but is followed by weekly bed change!
