Do you eat in bed?

Or allow your DCs to?

We're a no family now, but I've got to be honest and say one of my guilty pleasures as a teenager was to curl up in bed with some snacks and a book 😳

Yep! Get up, make tea and breakfast ( porridge or a bagel most days) and then I go back to bed to eat it.
I used to get up with the children but was so happy once they no longer needed that and I could take my breakfast back to bed!
It's my quiet start to the day before work, and no, I don't get crumbs in the bed.
I'm amazed how many (presumably adults) here can't manage to eat without scattering crumbs over the duvet 😁
I sometimes have an evening snack as well...

I like the thought of it, but not the practicality.
Every time I do eat in bed I wish I hadn’t bothered. The crumbs get in cracks I didn’t even know I had!

No, unless I’ll.
Now I’m thinking about it, I’m surprised how strongly I feel against it - probably something to do with the potential for mess & the smell of food in my bedroom.

This! I actually can’t sleep with the smell of food in my bedroom.

Sometimes DH brings me breakfast in bed but otherwise no!

Sassylovesbooks · 22/10/2025 19:49

Only a mug of tea in bed in the morning. I don't eat in bed and neither does my son. I dread to think what his bed would look like, if he was allowed to eat, sat in it!! 😬😱

This thread brought back a dreadful memory of the time when I was a teen and walking home one evening. A creepy man driving by in a big truck yelled out the window at me...
, "Hey, Blondie! You can eat crackers in my bed anytime!" Id forgotten that males catcalling women was ever a thing back in the 70s. Another thing they'd say was, " I wouldn't throw her outta my bed for eating crackers" when talking to each other about an attractive female. 🤢🤮

DeanStockwelll · 25/10/2025 08:57

@Sweetpea1532 , I have heard very similar phrases but saying toast rather than crackers .
Men have some terrible chat up lines don't they.

Occasional slice of toast, a bit of secret chocolate!
I don’t stay in bed, prefer an early night to a lie-in.

SliceofTosst · 25/10/2025 09:17

Occasionally snacks. Last night we had a bowl of crisps while watching tv.

I agree with you. I don’t understand why so many people are so worried about crumbs - I use a plate or bowl when I eat in bed and I don’t make a mess any more than I do when I eat at my dining table
