Taxes optional but greatly appreciated.

Impressively lazy thinking that murder/maiming within prisons is somehow a good thing.
I wonder how far that can stretched. Maybe we can dispense with police/courts etc. Vigilante style. Who gets to decide that? Offenders?

It comes from the idea that everyone who is in prison is the scum of the earth, no distinctions made, and that they deserve everything they get. It also comes from a belief that rehabilitation is generally not possible, which is manifestly not the case.

And it's only a small step from thinking of prisoners as less than human to thinking of the poor, the ill and the disabled as less than human.

Joined up thinking is not a prerequisite for the Faragist tendency...

TheKeeperofBooks · 25/10/2025 22:17

And there. The circle closes.....around again.

DuncinToffee · 25/10/2025 22:21

Pochin has apologised for her comments, well sort of

The adverts are generic and play throughout the networks with advertising all across the English speaking world. Most people with a brain understand that.

Spoiler alert!

It's like those who still believe that Strictly is live on a Sunday for the results. It's pre recorded on the Saturday - complaints to the BBC.

placemats · 25/10/2025 22:45

Enjoy the extra hour in bed tonight - I'm staying up to watch Manchester United on MOTD.

DuncinToffee · 25/10/2025 22:48

I am not going to say enjoy MOTD but do enjoy the extra hour!

We might not have misgivings about the paedophile recently murdered in prison but there was outrage (and quite rightly) about the prison officer who had boiling oil thrown over him by a terrorist. The same conditions allow both things to happen.

That’s an excellent point that they go hand in hand and to stop one we have to stop the other.

Kebatu is still at large and last seen in Hackney. I don't know if any of us are in that neck of the woods?

"He was still wearing his prison-issue grey tracksuit top and bottoms, but is now carrying his belongings in a distinctive white bag with pictures of avocados on it,” the Met said"

As well as being a horrible pervert, he is obviously not too clever about being inconspicuous. Hopefully that means he will be caught soon.

Efacsen · 26/10/2025 08:07

It was pretty cold last night and it's difficult to see how he can continue ?aimlessly criss-crossing London with so little cash in his pocket - seems like he has no contacts to hide with

Hopefully will give himself up today or someone will spot his unusual bag

PandoraSocks · 26/10/2025 08:18

Yes, if he had any contacts or help he would have changed his clothes by now.

DuncinToffee · 26/10/2025 09:26

Good to see Sunak warning Reeves against putting up taxes, the former Prime Minister who raised taxes to their highest level in more than 70 years Confused

And the DM are going for Polanski's dress sense, very grown up.

Edited

He has been found and taken into custody.

The message is loud and clear - avoid the online trolls and bots who seek to shut down discussion, imtimidate and deride with snarky remarks and laughing emojis.

But bots can’t vote.

That's rather up for debate ....

We all need to be more Yulia.

He spent £10 bn on 2x NI cuts - totally unaffordable and pointless as an attempt to keep the Tories in power.
All whilst keeping a high tax burden.

PandoraSocks · 26/10/2025 09:58

That is a good article and very true, Yuliia said the same. We see it here on MN too. Those new three-name posters who pop up when certain issues hit the news, then vanish.

I would love to know how much Reform spent overall on Caerphilly, bots included. And maybe even bets to skew the odds as the bookies got it wrong too? But I may be veering into tin foil hat territory there.

SerendipityJane · 26/10/2025 10:16

Amusingly written in English which rather makes a point.

Nawr gallwch chi ffwc i ffwrdd adref

Fans of fucking about on a post-clock-change Sunday will be amused to know that the original Google translation was "Nawr gallwch chi fynd adref" - which rather coyly means "Now you can go home".

However a vague memory of being exposed to a touch of Welsh (and Gaelic) in previous lives made my spidey senses tingle, and further digging (where you shouldn't be digging) provided a more robust translation.

(Long term posters will of course know that discussion of foreign languages in these threads is a little like an antiseptic cleanse which washes the plopper bots off. 😀)

Media is very quiet on Pochin's racist remarks 🤔

Philps answered with 'no comment' on LK this morning.
