This poor woman. - why won't the NHS help her?

I have to say, she is partly to blame for getting her implants from Turkey, but to be left in absolutely awful pain for months, and with no treatment in sight, it's a travesty in this modern world that this poor woman has to suffer as she is clearly in the worst pain and her physical and mental health must be at rock bottom.

Her TikTok account shows her story.

TikTok profile name: djabeyance

Basically, she's got a dreadful infection in her sinuses from the botched implants, which have led to necrosis and her nose is literally rotting away with a huge hole which is where her nostrils were (are?!)

Sorry to post such a sensitive topic, please be aware that it's quite distressing to see her nose.

I understand that the NHS and surgeons will not treat patients who've had any cosmetic surgery from abroad, due to litigation and the risk of any further complications, but it's madness to think this woman is left to suffer.

Hal most like she had some personal responsibility that’s she’s trying to foist on others. As pps have said, don’t click on the link - views =£s which is clearly what op is aiming for.

I grew up in Ireland, which didn't have an NHS. Funnily enough, Ireland has now recognised the value of nationalised healthcare and is in the process of putting it in place.

It amazes me that people in the UK are so willing to give up something that has made such an enormous difference in terms of population and personal benefits. The NHS is a genuine good, not a 'gravy train.'

I agree!!!!!!! So perhaps People in the UK should be more appreciative of it and accept we have responsibilities to lose weight, control diabetes, stop smoking and not get all huffy and angry when the NHS thinks it's a caveat to treatment access.

I'm lardy. If I was told to lose weight before a free operation, I'd have to do it! It's not the NHS fault I'm too lazy to go on a diet or exercise more. It's mine. I could make all kinds of excuses, but the truth is I'm lardy because I'm lazy and demotivated and love food !

All the people getting veneers are storing up a heap of trouble. I had no idea they filed down the teeth to little spikes,,,it must result in all sorts of issues over time. Shudders.

that's why even top cosmetic dentists are really against them. Veneers do wreck your natural teeth, however well made they are.

So going for a cheap version abroad, with no aftercare and just because it's cheaper. People are nuts, toothache are hell, why would you put yourself through that.

Save and buy a safer treatment, instead of expecting everything for free.

That is awful. How can you get necrosis of the nose from anything in your breasts?! People will obviously think she's a massive coke head.

I'm reading the story as being that the implants couldn't be removed while they were infected - but now the infection is under control, it's no longer an emergency situation. So removing them now would be purely cosmetic?

My brother who had an abscess on a molar tooth (the left side of his face was badly swollen and looked like a halloween cake) and was pleading with the dentist to pull it. Dentist explained the couldn’t do that until the infection was cleared. Sent him home with a prescription for 10 days of antibiotics, painkillers and advice to rinse hourly with saline and three times daily with corsodyl mouthwash. The tooth was saved. So, you are correct, a responsible dentist would treat the infection first to avoid the spread of infection.

I sympathise to certain extent with people who have naively gone down this route but this woman had already been given professional advice and decided to go ahead regardless. She stills needs to be treated but I don’t think she should be a first priority to the NHS.

Lunde · 11/10/2025 16:31

Is the problem that she is demanding something not routinely available on the NHS? According to the NHS website

Dental implants
Implants are usually only available privately and are expensive. They're sometimes available on the NHS for patients who cannot wear dentures or whose face and teeth have been damaged, such as people who have had mouth cancer or an accident that's knocked a tooth out.

I'll be honest, it took me a while to work out that it was teeth implants that were being discussed...

Stop guessing you’re over invested and You’re catastrophising with each post
She will get treatment for the immediate presentation eg treat infection and a maxillo facial assessment
Stop getting aerated, stop berating the nhs. Go do your real life instead of vicariously getting over involved in a stranger drama. You’ve descended down a rabbit hole of indignation and you would think…. with a side order of why!why!

Ahhh...ok. why did I think breasts?! I'm glad I'm not the only one. 🤔😂

Yeah, teeth implants for any reason are never available on the NHS so that's why she can't have it. Which is fair enough. Loads of people need dental implants but have to just accept dentures as NHS don't fund it.

Seagullstopitnow · 11/10/2025 16:36

Once the infection is under control she can take out a loan or sell her property to get it fixed.
She was told not to do it
As much as I hate the phrase FAFO.

And I'm not beating the NHS per se, but i have been let down by it and given a medication which harmed me permanently with a movement disorder. But equally, I know they have saved my life on various occasions too, so I don't have all bad feelings for it.

Dh is on an ENT NHS wait list for 18 months due to polyps needing to be removed. Every time he has a cold he is in huge amounts of pain. Why should she skip the queue (especially as it’s self inflicted). I assume the antibiotics have been on the NHS?

I hope he gets it done soon, @TeenLifeMum . I had mine sorted a decade or so ago, and the relief was incredible. One was infected and never responded to antibiotics, so the pain was constant.

Yes they do wreck natural teeth and have a limited lifespan.
I had some staining on front teeth that can't be whitened by normal bleaching techniques. My dentist wouldn't do veneers because she won't touch "healthy tooth" and so we settled on composite bonding which is much less invasive though they do chip more easily than veneers and need to be repaired.
My dentist said that really a root canal needs to be done before putting veneers on to stop the tooth failing as easily.

These Turkey teeth veneers involving having all teeth shaved down to little stumps. They are preying on people's vulnerability because most people absolutely do not need veneers on all of their teeth, even if there is some staining or slight imperfections etc. Don't understand why people have any teeth treated like that which are hidden when you smile anyway.

As for the woman in question. Yes, it's awful but she got herself into this mess and in this article on yahoo news (ok, not the most reliable source)
uk.news.yahoo.com/turkey-teeth-turmoil-livid-leanne-142641453.html
"since then, she has been admitted to hospital over eight times, attending "350 doctors appointments" and had had so many course of antibiotics that she has now become "immune". Finally, at a private dentist, an X-ray showed the implants were piercing her nose. The temporary teeth were removed and dentures put over the top.
However, it was also confirmed that she has an infection and flesh-eating virus called necrotizing fasciitis, which can be a severe and rare complication of tooth-related issues."

So she hasn't been abandoned by the NHS or whatever it is she wants to claim and she doesn't really seem to understand what has happened and what treatment is needed or what actually can be done. She wants a miracle cure it seems and the implants removed and possibly replaced.

To be clear, I'm not saying that this particular woman should get all the treatment she wants - I'm sure the NHS is doing what it can. What bothers me is the attitude of posters on this thread that some people 'deserve' treatment and others don't. I don't think that people who express that attitude really understand what they're saying - although that may be too generous, maybe they do understand and they really believe some people should die because others have judged them unworthy?

But I don’t think people are saying that she should have no treatment (eg no antibiotics to fight the infection and be left to die of sepsis), rather than the NHS shouldn’t be having to provide extensive cosmetic surgery to fix cosmetic procedures gone wrong overseas (especially when the NHS had warned against getting it done in the first place!).

This is actually not true but because it’s posted on TikTok you believe it to be true! I’m a senior sister in the NHS and we see and treat many people who have botched cosmetic surgery abroad! Clearly if she posted that the nhs were helping her no one would follow her!

That is why I have no sympathy for her, that price differential should have sounded deafening alarm bells. Ridiculous to think that level of surgery, even taking into account the higher prices in the UK, could be done properly, safely and professionally for £8k.

It is also the kind of treatment that takes months to complete properly and if she had done a modicum of research on it she would have known that.

I agree with another poster that anyone who goes abroad for cosmetic treatement, whatever that treatment is, should have to take out insurance cover should anything go wrong and require intervention back in the UK.

Minnie798 · 11/10/2025 16:52

What do you mean by the nhs helping her?
At the moment, millions of people ( including children) can't even get an nhs dentist.
It will cost 45k to fix her problems, which were caused by a cosmetic procedure ( so completely unnecessary). The dental work she had done in turkey is not available on the NHS. Neither is the extensive work needed to repair the damage. She was well aware of this or wouldn't have gone to turkey for the work done in the first place.
The nhs have been helping her. They are providing numerous A and E consultations, there have been hospital admissions for IV antibiotics, blood transfusions etc.
Hopefully she will find a private dentist willing to try and rectify the mess allegedly caused by a dentist in another country.
Does anyone know if the private clinic in Turkey has issued a response. Perhaps not due to confidentiality issues. So theres probably more to this story.

Well wherever she got the money from for the Turkey operation, she can no doubt now find the money to pay privately to sort this out. Stupid is as stupid does.

Exactly. She has a gofundme running so she needs to make it sound like she's been abandoned to her fate when that isn't true.
What she actually means is that the NHS won't do the work needed to restore her teeth and face to the condition they were in before the botched work, ie. remove and replace the implants and provide a new set of teeth and do whatever reconstructive surgery is needed on her nose.
